That is nowhere near an elf in my opinion. I will replace that one totally.

I finished my replacement for number 8, and moved them all inside the game. This has taken a loooong time of tweaking.
And I almost started crying when I saw them in game. I don't think I can release these. I just can't decide if it's my fault that they're ugly or BioWares

mmh.. I understand what you mean. But all the lore and tales about elves telling another story as this preset.
Well the way I see it is that if this preset was in-game, it must have been one vision for what an Elf in dragon age might look like.
Then you have some art here: dragonage.bioware.com/gallery/wallpapers/
The roundness of the face, the small, almost stubby nose, the eyebrows bordering on bushy... even the bulky build of the character... is that one of DA's elves?
Also, DA's elves are shorter than humans unlike Tolkien's elves who are akin to the Nordic vanir, tall, beautiful, ethereal. Or unlike shakespeare's elves who are miniature beings.
Anyways, I really don't feel like arguing or defending myself. I respect and give you the right to decide whatever looks "right"; it would be nice to have that same privilege

I'm just thinking of skipping the elf presets all together, can't make something I like from the bases BioWare gave me.

@eucatastrophe Beauty may be the eye of the beholder but there are certain things that most people find attractive (facial symmetry, proportionality of facial features, etc.). For a game like Dragon Age, the source material it draws upon does limit things a bit in terms of preconceptions so very few people would go into this expecting something akin to a freakishly-tall Athasian elf (nor anything resembling a Keebler elf, for that matter). Nonetheless, there's certainly plenty of room for interpretation and the more interpretations that are out there, the better it is for the players (more variety).

@ Petehog's "universality":
Naw, nobody is universal. The only reason I use anyone's massive-redesign mods is because I can mix and match. I mix and match Petehog's redesigns with the redesigns I found in Improved Atmosphere. For example, I use IA's morphs for Herren (of Wade's Emporium)... it fits the voice so well.
*Pinches nose.* "Oh.. it's yeeeou."
I tried out Petehog's Flemeth, and now I've gone back to Bioware's, because Bioware's looks the most like Kate Mulgrew.
My Sten, Morrigan and Leliana are from the Trailer Edition mod. It cannot be surpassed AFAIC.
For Zevran I use Ymladdych's Zev redesign, and I don't think I'll ever change it again (I've gone thru a few Zev appearance mods, looking for the best one). It's a shame her Zevran has few downloads because no one knows about it; they're missing out.
I can't wait until I have Alistair face off against Petehog's Loghain, though.
Aha! See that?! That's what I meant, right there! You see, look at Petehog's toolset-to-CC morph's eyes... her right eye is higher than her left eye! It's hideous! Is this a toolset-to-CC bug? It sure bugs the heck out of me, when I move a toolset morph to the CC! (It seems to disappear once you move the chara to in-game?)
@Mlai
There is something you must understand. The problem you have mentioned have no correlation to my mod, but is a problem with ALL presets, including Viruscat's presets.
The in-game character creator makes distortions to all characteristics and they never quite look the same way.
Take a look this character. It is the same character. One is through the toolset. The other is a preset.

Presets always have inaccuracies. Presets never look exactly like the real deal. It messes up the nose, the eyes, etc. It's one of the reasons I have avoided them.
The difference between a character made through the toolset (the pure version) and a preset or an in-game creator is substantial.
I find your comment unfair as you are associating my skills with something that is beyond my control. You must understand that the flaws you have mentioned will inevitably apply to Viruscat's presets as well. If you read the descriptions for the mods for "Malcolm Grey Warden" from FallenAngel and Mitchunter they mention the same thing in their description.
Here is a distortion of a redesigned Alistair. The nose isn't at the correct setting. Even if I change the nose, it doesn't look like the one I made in the toolset.

Distorted eyes and nose on male elf

Here is a distortion of a preset for Morrigan. The one from the toolset is on the right.

Everyone is entitled to thier opinion. But if you will criticize my work, please do so on equal terms.

maim your pretty features, but should I become sober I will be in a mood to show you a new realm of pain and violence.

This is Meri. She thinks it would be wise of you to make a donation to the poor of the Dust Town, or nasty things might happen.

@Presence
You did it! A meanie dwarf girl!
Anyway. Starting to upload the elf male presets now. I hate all of them, seriously!

Okay, I don't hate this one. This is a non-mod-version of what I was thinking of using as my own Zevran. He's pretty handsome... but I hate all the others!

Yes, Petehog is a very talented designer.
So are you! But, your designs VirusCat, are quite frankly, of a completely different style than Petehog's. It's not a matter of popularity, and it never was. If people like your style of design, they will most likely use your presets. If they don't, it's not going to happen. Regardless of weather Pete releases presets for them to use or not.
No one " stole your thunder ". Take your elves for example. Every pic I've seen you release of them has a very specific style to the design. A style I haven't seen anywhere else. They certainly are of a style I've never seen Petehog use.
So how in the world would his release of elven presets hurt your own??? Some will prefer your elven design, some will prefer his. It's just a matter of taste. My point being, that those who evision their elves in more of a style of Petehog's, wouldn't be using your mod anyway.

@bandy1 you are a bit late - aren't you ? the whole thing is nearly forgotten and you come up like a cow and mow the grass again ? tz tz
Am I late? Really?
Considering Pete's defending himself about 4 posts up from someone else slinging mud ( at least as he precieve's it. Wonder where he ever got the idea to be a little defensive in this thread, humm??? ), doesn't really seem so.
@ VirusCat; Then don't bother reading my replies. I simply pointed out why I think your behavior was irrational. There was no call for you to call out Pete like you did. Saying he should " do what he wants of course " is a little late after the fact, when he's already pulled the plug.
