@Forlorn--She is a pretty model. Is she the only character you use?

These are the three DAO characters I've made for full runs through the game. Each has some tints and textures that are of my own design.
Posted Image
Deirdre is a human noble, warrior, and master of dual-weapon wielding. She is polite, supportive, and a paragon of good will.

Posted Image
Mordukai, another human, is my borderline-diabolic mage, specializing in elemental and spirit magic. He is self-serving and ruthless.

Posted Image
Hailing from the Dalish lands, Feyawen the elf rogue is highly skilled at archery and traps use. Though not evil by nature, she is impulsive, opportunistic, and does whatever it takes to accomplish her goals.

@Mulch00, love those hairstyles! I don't think I have the mod that includes those, where did you get them?

This is Dairus, he's sort of a combination of warrior/mage/rogue rolled into one.

It's hard to describe the concept I came up for him. He is a battle/combat mage, but not the sort you'd normally think of (not clad in heavy armor). Basically, he's a dual-wield warrior who wears very little armor (like a monk), who has protective magical capabilities and can infuse his weapons with magical properties - lightning, fire, ice, etc. So I think of him as having a little bit of each class - mage-like buffs, warrior-like strength, and rogue-like speed (plus the lack of much armor). Armor hinders his movement in combat, so he relies on magic buffs to protect him from attacks.

I should add that such a class is only possible with a lot of mods. :wizard:

Tried to make a character based on the mage concept art (This one ), but couldn't really get the eyebrows right or find a hairstyle that matched the artwork properly, plus some other things. Ah well. Here's the result:

@ Mulch: I really like Nisha. The choice of elements and the color palette are really quite striking.

@ okamimiyazaki: I like Dairus. One of the few characters who looks good in a robe and in... well, *some* armor. B) Striking eyes and tattoo combo

@ Ekas: Hmmm, I think it's pretty close. I once tried to reproduce the CIty Elf concept art and couldn't get it quite right, but this character is beautiful in her own right

@ Klidi: Taranis looks like he'd get on well with Taliesin. That smirk!

So, with the new Hairstyle Day release, I decided to try to make a female kossith (i.e., Qunari) in the toolset. Since the Dragon Age Wikia specifies that kossith have metallic tones to their skin, I chose to do a copper-based kossith with the following results:

Rinn - full side view with horns:

Rinn - Front view

Again, a character from an RP rather than intended for use in-game for DA:O/DA:A. She's Tal-vashoth warrior, in this case.

And, a new elf, for my Arlathan-era fic. The final design for a character I've been struggling with.

 I have one question: is anyone here using Poser 9 or higher for these renders? They are too refined to be Dragon Age Origins graphics. The details is more akin to Dragon Age 2 and I know that Bioware have not released a Builder kit for editing Dragon Age 2. I cant help but think that Poser and Photoshop are being used together to create these cool renders. and they are really cool by the way :)

So far as I know, everyone is just using mods, the DA:O toolset and screenshots. Skin and eye textures, tattoos, new colors for every aspect of the morph - these are all available through mods. In a way, it's like Bioware went to about 60% of the potential of their own graphics in DA:O, and modders went the rest of the way. Heck I don't even own Photoshop, and only recently learned how to modify a tattoo file using GIMP, much less anything more sophisticated.

Mods, tools and screenshots. For example, Diana needs 8 mods... and that's without a tattoo.

For this thread, all I do with the screenshots is cropping. I only edit (usually in Photoscape, sometimes in Gimp) if I want to it for something else. Diana was a birthday present for my friend, a sort of fanart for her story, and there the post edit took me almost two hours, till I was happy with it.

@ tklivory - who would say Qunari ladies were so good looking! :)

@Ekas

I think that's as close as you can get, good job. She looks awesome even if she doesn't look exactly like the concept art. Is it just me, or does she kind of look like Melissa Joan Hart? (with white hair of course)

@tklivory

Ohhhh, I really like Tallathian. She has this sort of ethereal, anime-esque feel to her. Love the eye color and the way it matches her tattoos.

@okamimiyazaki:
Darius is quite handsome. Good work.

@Klidi:
Wow, nice work. Diana is very pretty. Her eyes are stunning.
Taranis looks good. I think he'd be the perfect mage.

@tklivory:
Rinn is cool. Making a female qunari is an amazing idea.
Tallathian looks so sweet and innocent. I really love her striking, purple eyes and the tattoo.

@LordMonarch09:
I use appearance mods (hair styles, tattoos, tints, face and eye textures etc.) the DAO toolset, screenshots. That's all one needs to make morphs.
I agree with tklivory, it really is like Bioware didn't use the full potential of their graphics.
The textures some very talented people created and picking the right light ingame really can make a difference.

@BevH:
Sarima is stunning. I love her blue eyes. She reminds me of a friend of mine.

@Huntress:
Amazing action shot of Crystal. She looks really fierce and quite beautiful in the screenshot without the helmet. In all, she very much looks like the queen of Ferelden.

@LordMonarch09:  Yup, just texture mods, toolset to implement those texture mods that is about it.  I do crop my screenshots, and I use fraps to capture them, but that is it.  It is a lot of walking up to walls and moving the mouse around to get your warden to move their head the direction you want, then hitting the pause(spacebar) and then moving the camera around and getting the screenshot.  Some people on here are really good at finding unique places for screenshots.

I finally reinstalled the toolset, so here is my first new morph from scratch in months.  I will try and come back and comment later on some of the morphs posted up, they look so good.

@Klidi--I'm sorry, what I meant was that I could provide links to resource pages according to a list of resources that you're using; "dl_har_rav" for example. I like your Diana morph btw, she looks very defiant.

@tklivory--Nice horns!

@LordMonarch--A good vid card and high def graphic mods do wonders for screenies. I take most of my shots during conversations, though sometimes just good positioning in the regular world view; timing is the trick.

@mulch00--I really like that Dryad character; she'd be a good replacer for the Lady of the Forest. Joseph reminds me of a Native American brave, staunch and fearless.

@Saerwen--The morph is pretty, but none of your trademark tats?

I will try and comment on a few designs!
@Dev-I see what you did there.:)  I did try to put a tattoo on Lillian, but I just couldn't find one that fit her.  Maybe as her story progresses one will speak to me...  I really like some of your reworked NPC's.  Howe and Anora are really standouts.

@Mulch- Your work is always so original, and cool.  Do you ever get to sit down and play?  Or are you playing any other games right now?

@Huntress- I like your Cousland, it is also nice to see someone stick with a character thru both Origins and Awakening.  Dual Weapon is my favorite!

@tklivory- A female Qunari?  Nice concept, she looks properly surly. Tallathian is an interesting design.  Is she completed or are you still working on her?  I really like the color scheme you have going. My favorite design recently of yours is Kalindra, lots of detail and thought put into her.

@Klidi- My favorite of your recent designs is Diana.  She looks very realistic to me.

@Ekas- Your concept art elf is very well done.  I think that you got very close to the design, and she is quite beautiful.  Bidelle has a skin texture, that has a nice arched eyebrow, and More Hairstyles has a messy ponytail, that may be close to they hairstyle(you may have already seen it).

@okamimiyazaki- Nice looking monk/mage/warrior.  Looks like he is quite the ladies man.
@Zeleen-OMG, nice to see you!Posted Image  I love your Dwarven princess.  I do like your Alistair morph, thou all I can ever bear to do to him is give him stubble and a better eye texture.

@Forlorn- Very pretty Coulsand, like your Dalish backstory.  Bet poor Alistair is distracted by those robes.

Thank you to everybody who commented on my designs, it is fun to get back into this game.

@Saerwen - Thank you for your comments! For Rinn (my kossith), this is the 'pretty' kossith version, and I'm still working on the 'lore' version, since I imagine that the female kossith would have at least some corresponding heavy bone features as the male kossith do.

For Tallathian, I am much more satisfied with her than I was when I first started working on her. She is a primeval elf (as I like to think of it), in her story, literally created by one of the Gods, so I want her to look more ethereal and idealized than my other elves. The main item I'm lacking is just the right tattoo - I can't draw my own, but none of the many i have (and I have hundreds) feel quite right. The one in the current morph is the closest to feeling 'right'. She's not complete, but almost there...

And thanks for your comment on Kalindra! She's my canon Warden, and thus close to my heart.

@Dev- None of the tattoo's I use are "mine", I wish I had talent enough or the brains to do my own.   I have found the best way to find new stuff is to once in a while check out the people who make the huge morph compilations on the nexus.  They usually seem to get stuff before everyone else, and they have to list up mod dependency's for thier morphs.  (one of the reasons I dislike posting mods..)  I did see your mod on the nexus, I endorsed it.
