Mulch00, how many times must I sacrifice Connor (and Isolde, but who is keeping count?) for you to make that a preset and available to the pulic? Because he's just... :blink:

And a character in a game totally made me self-concious now <.<

The contest is awesome idea! ^^ Can't wait to try it, and to see all other lovely creations.

I have another question for you clever people: there are no hairs for qunari? :( Do you know of any mod that could fix that?

@ Klidi:
Other styles for Qunaris shouldn't be a problem. The hair has just to be adjust for the Qunari head like for all other heads too.:)
Btw. I love your morphs. They have all such a great face expression and positive vibes. I don't know if this is the correct word for it.. I mean something like charisma! :D

@ Miyula:
Thank you! The expression is the first thing I have in my mind, when I start making the morph, especially if it's a character from fanfiction. I try to create a morph that would match the character's personality. :D

I wish I knew how to adjust hair. But I've read few blogs here on BSN about it and it seems very complicated, requiring all kins of software and a lot of time. Toolset wiki could be as well written in chinese, I don't get a word it says - it's all written for people who already have experience with it. All I know is how to create morphs.

So I'm very grateful for such talented people like you, who can convert hair and make it available for the rest of us. :D

I can make you a style for a qunari if you like but I can only use hair from my mod or you can have a look at the sites of the Sim2 guys. You can find the links in my mod description on the Nexus site. :)

@Miyula:
That is a great idea. I'm in:)
Also, am I allowed to add you as a friend here on BSN?

@Kaldelar:
Thanks. Hmmm, I don't upload morphs I make anymore. Also, if I were you I would use a *.mor file, because the results look much better than with an *.mop (preset) file.
But I'll see what I can't do ;)

@Klidi:
Greagoir is very handsome.

Yep, you are right. Quanris definitely need more hairstyles. Especially dreadlocks!
Ahh give it a try, once Blender is under control the rest isn't all that hard. Blender really is tricky at first, at least in my opinion.

Here are some qunaris with hair. They really are qunari, but I have the unholy talent to wipe racial features out, well more or less. Plus they are older designs so they probably look sort of ugly. Concentrate on the hair, not the face. ;)
Also, I was just learning how to use Blender, so I probably didn't do a very good job with the hair and beards.

A really dumb question, but is the plural of qunari, qunari or qunaris?

Really? Forgive the noobishness, but why is .mor superior? Isn't that straight into the toolset instead of the CC? Oh, I had no idea :o Hmm.... weeeell, if you no longer do it, I don't want to break your streak - but being annoying, could you perhaps post a picture or two of your base and sliders for him?

I don't really know what exactly the difference is, but *.mor files seem to contain more informations like the *.mop files.
Also presets tend to get deformed sometimes, especially the eyes and noses.

Fixed it for you :wizard:

You have to click on the desired image with the left mouse button and select "Copy Image Address", "Copy Image Location" or "Copy Image URL", depending which browser you use. Then you use BBCode, (img)Image address(/img) , to post it.
Don't forget to replace the ( ) with [ ] otherwise it won't work!

Nice dwarf, by the way, reminds me of Starlights wonderful creations.

Of course! That would be great!
Your qunari are great! Did you just replace Stens face for the screenshot? I mean there is no qunari preset. I'm asking because of the hair adjustments. I think no problems in Blender but I need a model in game to have a look if the hair fits :D

@ Klidi:
Mulch00 is right. At first Blender is a monster.. okay it is still one :D ...but you will tame it.
Use Boodrl's vid to learn the most what you have to know about hair conversions. You can find all links for the tools you will need in the mod description under tools! Try it. :)

Wrote you a pm. I had to write it in German, I can't explain it in English right now :unsure:
Basically it's manipulating a savegame via toolset so you have a playable qunari character.

@Alasea: I love how you've used those startlig blue eyes on your Saphira and Castiella, they both look beautiful.

@mulch00: You are so good at blending textures and getting a natural, realistic result, I'm slightly envious. Also your male morphs never fail to amaze me, they all look so good!
What hair are you using for Jetta? I can't remember seeing that before. Also she is stunning.

@mochen: I don't know why, but I really like JR's eyebrows, they give him a lot of character. I'll never understand how you manage to make male elves look good, Lucien is amazing.

@Klidi: Your Jack Harkness is coming along nicely! I wish I was better at giving advice, but I've never been good at creating the likeness of someone, nor say how to improve upon it.

@ mulch - I really do love your arkady design. It's just so perfect! The new out fit suits him :)

@ Klidi - Now THAT is an interesting concept! He looks really good.

@ Neveri - Geez, you really have the knack for creating dwarven females. Sigh I am jealous of your skills! Larana is also fascinating. She looks proud and confident. Good use of that hairstyle. I think it suits her perfectly :)

@Neveri:
Thank you.
The hair is from Look Hair by Risibisi.
Inga look very realistic. I love your drwarfs.
Larana is absolutely beautiful. The image is more like me of a painting. Quite a contrast to Inga's picture which looks like a photograph.
I like the way you compose your pictures, the lighting the character and the backround everything fits together perfectly.

@mochen:
Thank you.
Kira looks amazing. Tough, battleworn but there is so much strength and willpower in the way she looks.
Is she a new rendition of the elven lady with the, im not quite sure, black templar armour and the scar/wound on one side of her face?
Drupadi is a great design. She looks very innocent.
Sorrak is just wow. This is how I picture a tough dwarven fighter, maybe a legion of the dead warrior. The design was great before but now it is outstanding!

You do have a way with dwarf ladies. :-) The personalities really show. I also like Kira from last page- has the look of a very exacting but skilled teacher or trainer. "Yes, my students complain more than others, but I also turn out thrice as many successful Gray Wardens as the rest of the faculty."

@Klidi
So I was actually helpful?? *grin* The later Harkness does look closer to the real one. Another thing was the high cheekbones which I neglected to mention. You can see them jutting out a bit in Harkness' face around the eye sockets, particularly depthwise- another distinctive feature. The things mulch00 suggested are also very good to add.

@mochen
Although Locien appears vampire-like you seem to know how to bring out that fairytale mystical elfy look. Elves can look good without it in DAO, but I miss that aspect with DAO's realistic social commentary (of elves as simply a conquered, oppressed race with a vague history of achievement) overwriting the sort of nebulous imaginative existence elves usually reside in from DnD lore.

Maybe it's the eyes, but Drupadi reminds me of a female Johnny Depp. She's very alluring. Sorrak is great. What was the original appearance?

@mulch00
Oh, I don't take my creations that seriously- or not in terms of public scrutiny anyway- no need to apologize. Besides, I like the feedback, fun to get a sense of my characters from a different set of eyes and brain hemispheres. I actually haven't played Blunchard much past the opening scene yet anyway, so his personality isn't really fleshed out either.

As to my redo of Snark, as I said, it's a total rework- no more mohawk... I wasn't decided as to making him somewhat kindly or gruffly fierce, so it ended up in the middle. (Actually he resembles an old coworker of mine more than I'd intended.)

Snark (reworked)

Your two Kamis show how different a character can look with a different hairstyle. It's a bit perplexing really because I've also been trying to redo Kruklya with a different hairstyle due to the myriad problems caused by her ponytail (all the graphics glitches in it as well as the way that the hair movements intrude into her face). But changing her hairstyle makes her so different that it feels like a different character... can't abide it...

@Aedan123...:
You're welcome :)

@Bhryaen:
Good to know. I worried that I might have offended you.

Wow, the rework of Snark look really cool. The hair, scar and the different eye colour look very good on him. I think, you absolutely hit the middle between kind and gruffy. He looks definitely like a rogue.

Wow, Krukyla' hairstyle change let's her indeed look completely different and seems to change her personality. Fascinating. I like the original version better.

The clipping with longer hairstyles is such an annoyance. The look so great, I love them, but then they vanish into the face, shouders, back or armour or a companion gets stuck by hair during some scenes and this drives me crazy.
I always play short-haired Wardens. My Wardens are all very low-maintenance (I also don't want them to have longer hair than I've got. I'm either vain or I have some sort of "hair inferiority complex"). ;)

 Good morning or afternoon,

I've seen plenty of pictures of members creating faces with what looks like tattoos that glow (or are just very very light/bright) which holds a great effect. I'd very much like to learn how to do so as-well within the Toolset. I've searched and found nothing relevant unfortunately.

Thank you for your consideration.

@reneg4de:

To get a glowing looking tattoo you need the white tattoo colour from
[url=http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/69//?]CC Extra Tints and Tones[/url]
and a tattoo that doesn't have different tattoo designs in different colour channels. This way you can use i.e. the white tattoo colour in the blue channel together with, say, a red colour in he green channel on the same tattoo which will give it a glowing look and not just one white tattoo design and one red tattoo design. For this to work you'll have to use the toolset, as far as I know it won't work in the ingame character creator.
If you open the tattoo tint map with Irfan View has to appear as a white pattern on a black background and not a blue/green/red pattern on a black backgound. You can get nice multicoloured tattoos with the "coloured tint maps" but not the "colour overlay" you want for the bright golwing effect.
Does this make sense? Sorry, English isn't my first language and because of this I often fail at explaining things, especially technical things. I could make you a toolset guide with pictures if you need one.

I'm not that easily offended. ;-) Particularly not by honesty! Snark is my first DW warrior... so not a rogue. :-P But he'll be carrying his DC past with him everywhere. I'm definitely liking playing him. Probably should've named him Gruff instead- or I was about to rename him Durk, but decided to just keep all the versions of Blunchard's DC version under one name.

This was an alt version of Snark that I scrapped- somewhere between the mohawk guy and my running one. Although I like the Oghren-like hair, it seems very problematic due to the way the designer angled the hair matting. Straight on or from behind it looks good...

Posted Image

But at a side angle or especially from above the scalp shows through...

Posted Image

It's probably not possible to use this good hair without making the scalp the same color as the hair, and I'm not about to make a Duergar Snark, Red Demon Snark, or Albino Snark. No idea how it works on Oghren since it doesn't work as modded hair- unless they've just added red scalp hair to Oghren. Times like this the Toolset is really my only option, but... oh, well.

It's sad with Kruklya's hair too for all you said: it does look best on her, couldn't find a suitable replacement of all the f!dwarf hairstyles I have, and I have the opposite of hair-length jealousy (enjoying it on my f!characters when it doesn't look impractical), so it suits her best and it's just sort of "her" hair at this point (no other character will get it)... But she can only be viewed (and screenshotted) from particular angles or the hair glitches stand out like a clown nose. If she turns her head to the right, a clump of hair actually juts through her low chin like some strange goatee. I assume the designer was using a smallish face as a model for the hair. I'm fitting to replay her to "get right" a lot that I did wrong (it was my first full playthrough), so this is why I'm struggling with how to proceed, what to do differently- that and I don't have a save of hers from immediately after the opening, and I like playing from the very start. I made her with the game CC (not the independent CC), so I have no original model to work with, only approximations. I don't think I can duplicate her, just replay her.

The difference between the two glamorous Shaynas is a subtle texture change? I see it in the lips and eye shadowing, but it's not so different. The long hair does look dramatically different, partly due to the extra light now visible on the side of her face. It shouldn't really be so different, should it? Then again the hairstyle denotes the sort of character they are- that they'd do their hair in that particular way.

Wow, the alternative version of Snark looks cool. I think I like it a bit better than the other version. It is really sad that sometimes thing that look so great like the oghren hairstyle do have such errors. Hmmm, do you use a custom hair tint? because then editing the tintfile entries in the *.mor file might solve the problem. There is an entry for a hair stubble, your need to copy the right tint file name into that entry line.

Since I'm a big fan of hoods I tried my hand at porting today. The result is the Skyrim Warlock hood in DAO, it is still a WIP, because the mesh need further adjustments as do the textures.
Here is the preliminary result worn by my testbot/model Shayna:

You can actually port object art directly from one game to another that way? Hmph.

Well, I'm sticking with my black-haired Snark since it's closer to the concept I was intending and I'm liking how he shows up in-game, but I do like that hair color and Oghren buzz... So I tried making an Albino Snark after all just to meddle and... suddenly there was an ambassador to Orzammar from the Anderfels Frost Dwarves, an ancient variant of dwarves from the deeper Deep Roads where the darkspawn haven't... oh, OK, so I made it up...

Then there was Demon Snark that turned out as a member of the... erm... Flame Dwarf race...

@mochen: I love the new design for Kira, she looks like a seasoned Warden close to her Calling. Drupadi has a really interesting face, and I think you've done a wonderful job at making that hairstyle work. Sorrak looks kick- ass. I will forever be in awe of your skills when it comes to male dwarves.

@mulch00: Kami looks really nice, she reminds me of someone, I just can't remember who. But she is striking! I think I prefer her with the dark hair, though.
I'm with you on the whole hair long thing. I love the look of them, up until the moment my character moves. Shayna looks quite nice with heir hair down, and short, though. And that thief hood is looking quite good! Can't wait to try it out, if you ever release it when you're done with it.

@Bhryaen: I really like your dwarves. Snark has a ton of personality, as does Kruklya. I actually rather like her with her hair down. You've got your own way with dwarves :)
