I've been trying to make a good looking elf to play through the game, and this is my result so far. I really like how she looks at an angle, but from the front something looks a bit off to me. I think I've gotten about as far as I can by tinkering with it myself. Any advice?

And I love this hairstyle a lot, but does anyone think there is one that would look as good and show off her ears? It'd be a shame to *finally* play through as an elf, and never have the ears showing. I'll probably give that tucked hair mod a try since it looks good.

@Presence: I'm loving your Minsc. I can already hear his battlecries. :D

@ Presence - Yes the one on the right is best so far I reckon.
@ Extra letters - I really like your elf. She's pretty in a kind of girl-next-door type way. Nice proportions. I think the simple designs are often the best.
@ Everyone - I can kind of see what you all mean about the hair. I like both. But I was trying to do something a bit different with Leliana. The freckles and hairstyle was my personal touch. Well, I admit I am a sucker for the whispy thin hairstyles...to me they make a face look dainty and delicate. But I think I'm in a minority there.
I'll keep both versions of her though, and swap them around depending on my moods! haha

My Morrigan design is on the pretty character thread at the moment if anyone is interested, she's a bit more conventional.

@ Extra Letters: How about the shorter version of this hairstyle, do the ears show there? I mean the frisky-looking one Mlai00 uses for her avatar^^
Btw, is that the same elf in the top and bottom rows in different lighting?? If not, I much prefer the darker version...

@ mochen: I actually really like your version of Leliana, especially the freckles! It's just that the short hair seems to suit her better. Have you tried any of the other short hairstyles on her (thinking of Oriana...)? If you want to get away from the vanilla model, maybe a new hairdo would do the trick (not that I mind the conventional one, mind you ;) )

I also dug up an elf from my repertoire: Enerdhil, my infamous and not-too-friendly Dalish. He and Tamlen made quite a nice human-killing duo...

Extra Letters: I'd try bringing up the chin a touch, and making the jaws a touch thinner. as for the hair, I'd say just try a bunch out and see if you like any others. yeah, girl next door pretty.

I just can't stand those long hairstyles. They look terribad! So with that hairstyle I couldn't focus on your Leliana's face at all. I just saw the horrible hair (texures, mesh.. everything is just plain BAD about those long ones). With the other hair she... I dunno. She looks a bit plain, and not very you. I think you should try something like Original Lynnore's hairstyle? Make sure to use the hair from the "Beautiful People Hair REN" mod and not More Hairstyles. Those from BPH REN are so much nicer.

Anyway, other than the hair and my private little peeve with those long hairstyles.. the face:
It's very you. The freckles are adorable (I'll surely use freckles alot on my new morphs), but I think her makeup makes her lips look odd in some lighting. Maybe a less piggy-pink color? :unsure:

@yasuraka.hakkyou
That dwarfie is amazing! You even made the hairstyle work <3
She looks like a rugged one, so my usual "round up her face a little more" doesn't apply either. She looks really good as is, and she really looks like a dwarf. <3

@Tattercloak
Personal opinions, don't mind me if you don't agree. Not saying you should change anything, just pointing out what I would do!
Dalish warrior - Mm <3 You made her face work! At least in that angle xD The high eyebrows, the almond eyes, the little longer face and everything! I could never do what you did. Beautiful!
Dalish rogue - Sadly it doesn't work nearly as good here. His long face, which may look longer 'cause of the angle/zoom, and his expression makes him look very gloomy. Try to shorten his face a bit by lowering botht he ears and the eyes, and also bring his chin and mouth up a bit :)
City Elf Warrior - He looks nice and friendly. I'm not a fasn of white hair but just ignore me about that :D I would maybe squint his eyes a little and bring his eyebrows down a tad bit to give him a more "serious" look, while still keeping his overall friendly expression.
City Elf Rogue - Eyes are too high, it's a common problem for me in the toolset. The slider just seems so hugely OFF! xD Bring down her eyes and ears, and maybe give her a thicker neck so that it fits with the body (femnecks and fembodies is something else I hate about BW xD)
Bruce Wayne-guy - You may not have made a Bruce Wayne in any way, but you made a really good and tough-looking guy! I would lower the outer parts of his eyebrows a tad bit, to make him look less surprised (I see a pattern here...)
Liselle - Other than the eyes standing out a bit too much (texture-wise) and her hair being awful in any other angle and below the crop of your pic - she's cute! She makes the pink-ish lipstick work O_O *stunned*
Bella - GAWD. So pretty! :D You sure nailed that one! <3

@Presence
Yep, the right one. Loving him. Not saying you should definitely go with that, but at least save one such version before you keep tinkering :D You might come up with something even more striking. You often do :wub:

@Extra Letters
That middle pic is so horrible. I'm really sorry but it is xD She's all girl-next-next-door-cute on the other pics and BAM in the middle some witch comes in and destroys the view xD The hair makes her head look twice the size in that specific angle and light and the shadows just doesn't make her face justice. I'm so sorry but I had to say it :P
Maybe try the hair I use on my profile pic? If you tweak in the toolset you can fit the ears into a space where it looks natural. The hair sorta splits there so the ears look really good instead of just sticking out from the middle of the hair :P
I would perhaps tweak her eyesquint a bit, she looks a little surprised on the front view-pics.
If you're not using the toolset, I can't help you really. I always find myself wanting to squint the eyes of my chars nowadays xD Maybe try another eye shape? :?

@Caladhiel
He could be a real bloodbrother to Tamlen :D He's not what I usually find attractive but he has some kind of charm that even works on me. He really looks elvish and fits SO well into the origin of choice (which is what I personally always try to accomplish). Damn good work! :o

*cets cramp in hands from all the sudden typing*
I shouldn't wait this long to write opinions xD But I'm busy trying to not install the toolset at the moment >-<

Hey, thanks!! :) And I know what you mean, I also ended up falling for that sleazy look of his.^^ Yay, he and Tamlen really kicked ass in the Dalish origin! Pity it didn't last though... *sigh*

@VirusCat Thanks for the feedback.  I'll probably spend some more time tweaking a few of the others but I did find the time to try a few of the changes suggested for two of the characters (with comparison pics).  "Bruce Wayne" was loosely-based on the comic version(s) so he's certainly quite open to interpretation B).  I'll give your suggestion a try and see how it works (not much else to do with him right now as he's stuck in the basement of Honnleath because the puzzle appears to be broken for me with the 1.03 patch).  The city elf warrior is just a fun character to play (two-handed warrior) and I've probably tweaked him the least.  His hair colour left me scratching my head as I couldn't find an appropriate tint that would not make him look old so I settled on white (one of Pineappletree's variants, IIRC).  He's supposed to be a fairly good-natured guy (compared to most of my other characters) hence his relatively-benign expression; I'll probably give your suggestions a shot anyway and see how it looks.  I tweaked the Dalish rogue but I have to admit that I was aiming for a gloomier expression but it's difficult for me to make such a character look right.

@Extra Letters Heh, as you can see, I used the same haircut for my city elf rogue so I know exactly how you feel.  One solution that I considered was extending the length of the ears (or perhaps increasing the value of the "elf ears" slider) but I wasn't sure how that would look with that haircut.  I was kind of concerned that it'd look pretty bad with the hair clipping through the ears but maybe you'll have more luck with it with a lighter hair colour.

Also, in general, I'm pretty much guessing when it comes to slapping make-up on the female characters as I'm just some guy playing around with the toolset.  I can get away with it for some of my characters since they're supposed to be no-nonsense adventurers (hence why neither the city elf rogue nor the Dalish warrior have much in the way of standard cosmetics).  For non-adventuring NPCs, it gets a bit tricky as I have to just guess.

Once again, thanks for the feedback everyone.  Please feel free to continue offering any suggestions that you may have. B)

@ Caladhiel - I like your elf. That's an interesting design for sure. His eyes are very squinty. He looks a bit stoned. In a good way of course!!
@ tattercloak - both new versions are better proportionally. Good job.
@ VirusCat - Oh well I know the hairstyle is not to everyones tastes, but I still like it. But you got me playing around with lots of different ones. Sigh, and I was happy with Leliana before I posted her, now I'm not so sure.

@mochen; Thanks!  Even for a simple design it took me so long. :x  I'm amazed that you and others can make so many great faces.

@Caladhiel; The ears show a bit with that hairstyle. I'm not sure if it suits her, though.   The top and bottom are the same character, just in different origins so that I could see her under different lighting.

@yasuraka.hakkyou; I'll try that. Getting the jaw & chin to look right has been a pretty big issue for me.

@VirusCat; I know, the middle's like the worst ever, isn't it? XD It's from the City Elf origin when Shianni wakes you up and you're sitting in bed. If anyone can make a face that looks good there, they deserve a cookie. Two cookies, even.  I figured if there's *any* screenshot that's going to show her in a bad way and reveal something I did wrong, that'd be it.

I really like the hair you're using with that character, and it was the one I was using when I first started trying to make a character.  I'll try it with ears that stick out more.  I might have to try a darker hair colour though, because there's this line in the centre of the back bugs me for some reason, idk.  Eye squint is something I tried before and took out for some reason. I'll see if it helps again.

I tried different eye shapes, but it seems when I'd do something like set an eye shape at 20%, it'd turn to 100% when I made it a preset.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong there, though.

@Tattercloak;  Extending the ears made them peek out, but the hair clipping through the ears was still pretty bad, unfortunately.

@mochen;  I think hair #2 looks best on her. Isn't that hairstyle meant to be an improved Leliana one in the first place? I love her hair colour too.

---

Image IPB

I made slight changes, maybe *too* slight to eye squint, jaw width and chin height.  The hair is also different to see how it looks, although I think I like the other one more.  I think she might look better with her eyes turned in a tiny amount, but I can't seem to get that to work. :/

Hi everyone, very awesome designs so far!

@Extra Letters: Wow, she's beautiful! It might just be me, but she does have a no-nonsense air about her :D
@ Caladhiel: Tamlen's brother! Hehe; I love that tattoo choice too.
@mochen: I love your Leliana's amethyst eyes! Interesting and different take on the character.
@Tattercloak: For what it's worth, I like the Afters better <3

I ahve made my first ever dwarf character (that I intend to play through), a Female Dwarf Noble. My first Female character that I intend to play through, too. As I'm not too experienced, I'm open to any advice/tricks of the trade/suggestions.
I give you Ulduara:

Image IPB
Image IPB

Basically everything I think of when I hear "Dwarf Noble", "Paragon", "beauty" I see in her. I like that her beauty is very austere and she has a perilous wisdom to her.

HOWEVER :o Not too sure about the blush choices (as I am not used to working around with them!) Suggestions welcome. I like the contrasting hair + eyebrows... I intend her to be somewhat of a vain character so she probably dyes her hair to look different. I like the hairstyle, but I am welcome to any hair colour suggestions as well.

Thanks for helping a layman out :D

Edit: Ugh, not loving her skin tone/blush in-game.

@Mochen-
Sorry to disagree with about everyone else, but i personally like the longer hairstyle on your Leliana sooooo much more. It gives her a lot more unique look and more personality. The shorter hairstyle i think doesn't fit with that face, plus i imagine Leliana with longer hair anways. Just my opinion.

I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head, eucatastrophe.  A warmer flesh tone (and I guess matching make-up) might be a better fit for your character.  The in-game character creator is a bit annoying for that because the lighting there tends to skew your perspective a bit (I think it's supposed to be like torch light).

Good for you because you're definitely taking a risk that I'm usually reluctant to take.  I've had a heck of a time with dwarven head morphs in the toolset (and truthfully, elven ones too; I find that humans are relatively easy by comparison).  One of these days, I'll get around to tinkering with a male dwarven head morph until I'm satisfied that it'll work for my noble dwarf warrior.

So I've watched the entire season of Spartacus - Blood and Sand now, and I decided I had to make a Spartacus character. Definitely the longest I've spent in the toolset face-morphing, but I'm actually quite pleased with the outcome. Let me know what you think...

I think I sorta see what you're saying; honestly, though, I'd have to change the preset. I gave her a different eye-shape here and softened the face but still used the same preset. Let me know what you think; I might play around on the toolset this weekend if I feel brave enough ^^

@Extra Letters She looks better in the second screens. A pretty girl-next-door - I still can't imagine her as an elf - but to be honest - my Kallian wasn't looking like an elf and I loved to play her :) Maybe make the nose a tad thinner, and lower it ?

Image IPB

@Caladhiel This Elf looks pretty good - especially his eyes - what eye mod is it ? Toolset only I assume?

@Tattercloak - 2 and 4 better as before - But the city elf rogue - well I pondered a while  and I guess the glossy eyes disturbing me - maybe give her normal eyes ? ( or is my screen fooling me ? )

@eucatastrophe this dwarfen lady has a lot of potential - but her face is for a dwarf to small. give her a rounder look and she will be awesome

Haha, it's almost that at least xD
I might just do that actually. ARGH. I have so much else to play D:

@Tattercloak
The new Dalish Rogue is much better. Still gloomy but in a more... uuh, realistic-ish way, so to speak. He looks a little more relaxed which is a plus!
About the City elf rogue, her proportions are much better! Something still looks a bit off with the eyes but I can't put my finger on what exactly. Nice overall ^^
I'm a girl and still don't have a clue about makeup :D I'm just slapping on something and hope it looks good in game :D

@mochen
So sorry we (I?) made you feel insecure about your design :( You should definitely keep the hairstyle if you want it, I do understand what you're after. It's just a personal thorn in the eye for me ;P

@Extra Letters
Uh, yeah that damn wake-up-thing D: All chars look so bad there xD
About the eyes - YES that's what happens! Thank you for clearing up a personal little headscratcher of mine. When making the char a preset, the eyes and nose and such go to 100% even if you put it at 10%! That's why most of the good toolsetchars look like **** in the CC O:
I have seen the changes but I didn't really understand what actually happened to the presets.
I fix this on my own char by replacing the morph in the savegame instead of using the one from the CC. That makes the head look exactly like it does in the toolset, but it also screws up the model in the Fade (which I now skip anyway since it's boring, so it doesn't affect me ;P)

Her mouth seems to stand out a bit in the side-shot there. I think I would draw it in a bit to give her a more petite look. The hair works, but I know what you mean with the color. I only use it in black :P
The tiny change to squint made a huge difference I think, together with the other changes. She definitely doesn't look as surprised anymore.

@eucatastrophe
Hmm, I see what you're going for, but I think you might give your dwarves a bit much of a human look. I won't go further than that, 'cause my vision of a dwarf is either what y.h made a page back or Nanica in my signature ;P And It's hard for me to see the dwarves as you made them :) Personal thing, don't mind me!

Greetings to show off owners. Here is my character posing at Denerim - The Pearl. Believe me he had stubbles if it were dark area. he is somehow my inspiration of Ser Gilmore, best friend to young Cousland. Throughout his journey he should look more... manly

And younger Alistair... I suppose. He had a very bright red lips for a guy. :D

@VirusCat

Wow I'm in shock when I look at your elves. A nicely done. Especially Aarya and Aaryanna. I did follow a few advice for elven making but still not good enough fer me. So i think i just sit back for this one. I hope you make more elves^_^. Ask or me I guess I have to be elven to make a good one lol.
