It's not a mod. It's official DLC... "Blood dragon armor"

we know that, but that must be how the armor looks in ME. not DA.

gladiador2: I think I can one up you on dual weapon sweep, with a whirlwind...granted its the aftermath, but still. 7 cultists.

Where... what... what is that armour?!!?!?!!!?1
I know it's not the DLC armour for DAO!  What's this mod?!
Snotra wants!!:o

Mod?! satans_karma is right. It is an official downloadable content provided by Bioware entitled "Blood Dragon Armor" and it comes with the purchase of all new Dra..... just kidding. Yup, it's the ME version! Cool, huh?

Depressing news inc. As of now, it only works for Human Males. It's still usable with other races/gender but it uses the old mesh with the new texture and it looks pretty ugly. It also makes your character slightly shorter. It's cool for screenshots but I'll be turning it off next New game...

Not sure if there's a formal place to download it, but I got it here:

Yes. That is how it looks in ME, but I haven't seen any mods for it at Nexus. Maybe he did it himself with the toolset???

Edit: Nevermind. Too late.

In any case, there are better armor options available if you're into mods...
http://www.dragonage...ds/cat.php?id=5

Check out armor of the devout, ivory tower and nightbloom, shade armor, and shadow warden armor. All good choices. Plus there are plenty of retints available... or you can recolor the vanilla armor with winter forge.

@yasuraka.hakkyou Nice work with Yvainne.  I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes to use glowing eyes or unusual eye textures for mage characters (or other characters that have been "touched by the Fade" like spirit warriors).

@Mlai00 Thanks for the feedback.  It actually reminded me that I strayed quite a bit from what I had initially played on doing with the city elf rogue so I did indeed go back to the drawing board (or close enough, I used a WIP head morph for inspiration and then modifed just about every single setting available because I wasn't satisfied).  I'm too lazy to whip up another comparison pic so I'll go with the lazy route and just re-link the previous comparison pic and contrast it with V6.  Also, I had to spend a few minutes searching my memory in order to determine why Ralf Moeller looked familiar before it hit me: Gladiator (also the first DVD I bought back when I saw some guy hawking DVDs in the food court at my university).  It probably would have helped if I had read the last sentence in your post where you explicitly stated it but my brain kind of froze a bit when it saw the photo and began a search. :pinched:

The goal this time around was to try to eliminate a lot of the stylized components that crept into the design around V2 and going back to making a character that could look capable and reasonably tough.  Neck is thicker, jaw and chin area should hopefully be rather different (having started over from scratch) and the nose is noticably different.  Proportionally, the eyes should be smaller (less doe-eyed damsel and more street-tough city elf is what I'm aiming for).  I am, however, tempted to change the colour of the lips again.

Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions folks and I hope I'm not flooding this thread too much with my character images and frequent revisions.

@Stippling I'll probably never be crazy about that haircut (it's from the DMC Dante hair mod on Nexus, right?) but I like the face of your character.  He's got that "I've seen it all before" look and has the scars to prove it.

@Tor_pedo I like the overall look of your screencapped character.  I'm tempted to say that you could try lowering her nose a bit and maybe nudge the cornea debug slider a bit to the left (to reduce them slightly).  Your avatar pic, on the other hand, is hilarious (which I'm thinking is what you were going for).

Oh, and because I missed it before, it's hard to comment too much on your character because of the angle of the screenshot, PanosSmirnakos, but I'm glad you chose one of the few male haircuts that actually looks alright (to me).

About the only thing I would say about your character (based on the screenshots) is that he looks a bit too baby-faced to have that much facial hair.  It's probably the base skin texture used for the character (I'm guessing the head is using the kid one due to how smooth the texture of the face is; you can see it in use on Sandal in-game as well).  That's the only thing that immediately strikes me as being a little incongruous but that's about it.

yasuraka.hakkyou, the only actresses that I could think of off the top of my head that look a bit like v6 would be a mix between maybe Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar from Star Trek: TNG) and Carrie-Ann Moss (Trinity from the Matrix).  I suppose another option might be a young Glenn Close (as a brunette).

I think version 6 looks like a young Meryl Streep. I see it a little in the head shape, a tiny bit in the eyes, and definitely in the nose. It's like exactly the same nose.

I think I'm done with my city elf's face, but for the life of me I can't settle on a hairstyle.  I made some mockups in photoshop to try and come up with something, and I'm liking this merge of Morrigan's bangs with the short hairstyle:

Posted Image

I think I need to learn how to make this happen.   For anyone who knows how, does this seem like an insane goal?  I know it's not something to learn and do in an evening, but I'm willing to put some good time into it, especially if it'll teach me to change other things as well.  Anyway, this is starting to sound like a subject for another thread, so...

@ LadyAly:  I like your elf!  Yeah, mine looks pretty human too, which is why I'm keen on having her ears show, although I didn't remove the hair crashing option for them in the pic above so they're still kinda flat.

@VirusCat:  Using a morph instead of a preset could solve problems, but I think I'm fine with her even so.  When I looked into the reason why the eyes did that when the morph was made a preset, it turned out that it was because the character creator can't handle or deal with certain sliders from the toolset, so it just snaps them to one side or another, or something like that.

This is a Leliana I'm currently working on. It's not exactly lore-friendly. It should be releasing it pretty soon.

@Tattercloak I use my human noble with Bioware default skin. Its not perfect but really blends in with the environment ingame. The Duncan I posted was just a darker side of him. he really inspired me to make sort of an personal protector evangelist. I wouldn't use him ingame al the way, not during the Joining cutscene, My Duncan just looks mean. Owh and a well done to your version 5.

@yasuraka.hakkyou Your elf is pretty and made her show off. She really matches with the dark hair.

@Mlai00 Haha hopefully. I just make him for my taste for DAO. He's my tank in the whole game. Just recently I use Sten... Red Sten:D

Petehog's creation always gets in me deep. I might as well stare at her the entire game. Anyone can show off a better Leliana than this?

Its amazing.;)

@mightmagix  He looks still like a teenie - but a handsome teenie. A good work for Alistair. I wouldn't dl it as a change for the normal DA.O one, cause he still looks too -- mmh --- innocent.

@Stippling Iniko Cousland - unusual Name and he is looking so tough and determined - I think I praised him before ? Not sure about - along with your Henri awesome work, thats for sure.

@Tor_pedo A cutie - yes she is. But your Avatar Man *snicker ....

@y.h. This hairstyle looks pretty good along with her small face - still the Jaheira Hair fits  a tad better along with the Jewel on her forehead.
HEHEHE - you know the fairy tale *The valiant little tailor* ? If not - he killed  7 with one stroke - *snicker* Its a familiar quotation in Germany for a BIG Hit .. (( well he killed flies :P ) Your screen has remind me immediatley on it.

@PanosSmirnakos the screens looking  squeezed - so not much to say about - its to strained.

@Tattercloak - the Version 6 looks indeed a bit like Meryl Streep.  Try darker eyes and lower her eyebrows a bit.

@Extra Letters uuhhhh - with this hairstyle she looks so fragile and pure - I really like that.

@Petehog Can't wait - it will hopefully come with an Alistair, too. I really miss a good Alistair mod. I want them for my playthrough after Na-Chaya ( which will be still need a while due to the story writing) BtW.: If you look at my screens there - I played all again through - to get the screenies I wanted after the download of 6.9 - Its awesome and I love my Lore Morrigan - and Zevran :wizard:

Thanks man. It will be in version 7.0 for sure.

@LadyAly

Yeah, I'm working on Alistair. He is very difficult to redesign. It's because he needs to be innocent, boyish, handsome but not cold, and humorous. He is a very complex character. Very difficult.

I am also very glad that you liked 6.9. I will work hard to make the Alistair for you and the public.

@ Tattercloak:

Move your CEF's eyes and eyebrows down some more. Refer to the young Meryl Streep photo, to see where a similar female's eye level should be.

@ Extra Letters:

That would be a great female haircut. I'm always annoyed at how a lot of the haircuts don't have side wisps. With that bare, the hair looks like a wig.

She looks great for a female elf! What I mean is, it feels almost impossible to make a teenager-elf-girl the way you can easily make a teenage-human-girl in this game.

Petehog! Where's that "young elf complexion" you promised us! Oh you didn't promise anything? You should've! >xD

Agh dammit, that would've been perfect if it had a human female version, then (which obviously exists in ME2)!  I'm sick of everyone (human) in this game being the same height!
But I've already played HNM.  Who else would I make "slightly shorter" now?!  Alistair?  Eh...

"C'mere Al!"  *Forcibly stuffs Alistair into armour a size too small for him.*

@Extra Letters Now that you mention it, the resemblance is a bit uncanny.  Suffice it to say, I wasn't exactly working off of a photo when I played around with version 6 so the resemblance is purely coincidental.  Regarding your character, the hairstyle you have in your latest photo (which I'm guessing is the cropped Morrigan haircut that you're referring to) works pretty well.  Nice look.  I wish I could help you with your objective but I'm no modeler.

@Petehog I was wondering who you would use that head morph for as I saw the pic in the other thread.  An unexpected look for Leliana but still rather nice.

@mightmagix It's all good, I was just curious because I know some of the Bioware default presets (the ones you see in the in-game character creator) use the kid texture (the really smooth-looking male human one is the first one I can think of off the top of my head).  And thanks, I wasn't sure how those eyebrows would look on v5 at first but I decided to gamble on it anyway.

@LadyAly Heh, I only wish I could lower the eyebrows more for some of my characters (the toolset has some limitations and one of them is related to how eyebrows look if you try lowering the brow setting a bit too much and then try to compensate by adjusting the eyebrow slider).  It's unfortunate but at least adjusting the eye colour for version 6 is easy.  I'll just have to decide on one.

@Mlai00 Moving the eyes down is pretty easy but adjusting the brow and eyebrows can be a bit annoying because it deforms the shape of the eyebrow at times.  I can try playing around with it but there are times where I'm concerned it'll just leave a huge gap between the eyes and the eyebrows.  If anyone has any tips or suggestions on getting the toolset to co-operate, I'm all ears :)

the drawback is, by default it overrides the stock pigtails hairstyle, but it can be easily rectified by renaming the file (and changing the file name field with the Toolset editor might be needed, but that's quick thing to do)

tmp7704 you rock! You and all your hidden mods!

Say... how hard would it be for you to make a mod for the female ME2 blood dragon armour in DAO? :kissing:

I checked out the male ME2 b.d. armour mod... lol I think I just asphyxiated Alistair in that metal corset. But it just makes me think about how great the female version would look on a DAO female human... bye bye gargantuan hands! Bye male standing posture! Bye huge male shoulders!

The aesthetic version definitely looks better than original. Although at this strong comparison rate I can't imagine it will be as easy to remake as any other npcs. Petehog will need all the time he can for this one. But then again, Alistair redesigned? Better than v6.9? Now that's something worth waiting for.:D

I tried to do the renaming exactly as you said, but it didn't work~!:crying:
I renamed the msh file to hf_har_ban3_0.msh (an arbitrary name), and I went into the toolset and changed the name also to hf_har_ban3_0.msh...
Then when I went into the game's CC, there is a blank hole where the hair should be!

@ Stippling: Love your Iniko and that troubled Cousland look! :)

@ YH: I really like your new Yvaine! The new hairstyle really suits her, even though it does have that little graphic problem that brushed-back hair tends to have. Still, I much prefer this version to the Jaheira one. ;)

@ Tor-pedo: Good work on your HN! You really need big eyes and a round face to make that hairstyle work. The lips are a bit too pink for my tastes, seeing as her eyes are so blue, but otherwise: well done! :)

I seem to be the big exception here, because personally I like all the DA:O characters just the way they are. Truthfully, I haven't seen one 'remade' version yet which I actually really like so much that I would swap it against the original. IMO, the remakes neither make the characters prettier, nor more realistic, they just look like different people altogether. And that's not really what I want for my characters, who I love just the way they are. It's a personal thing, and by no means do I want to discredit anyone's work! It's just that I have gotten used to the characters looking the way they do, and I like them with all their little faults, even if they don't look perfect. To take the example of Alistair: he's good-looking and all, no doubt of that, but to me he looks rather feminine with those plucked eyebrows. Sort of like Cristiano Ronaldo. And men with plucked eyebrows are an absolute no-go...

But as I said, that's just my personal opinion; I have high respect for all you talented people out there! It's just not for me... ;)

Oh right i didn't think of something Posted Image  you will also need to make a matching .mmh file i think, so the game knows how to texture and place and animate the hair.

To do it, make a copy of hf_har_ha3a_0.mmh (these files are stored in archive modelhierarchies.erf) and rename it to say, hf_har_ban3a_0.mmh Then, open that file with the toolset and put the name of your mesh in the MMH_MODEL_NAME field, and the name of your mmh file in the MMH_NAME field.  Then it should hopefully work all proper.
