The keep Lothering alive challenge. He interjects discussion that has nothing to do with the topic and has been showing the same screenshots of bugs already known. This why AlanC9 is unimpressed, because MOTpoetryION has used the console to get certain results. I knew I had seen the name before and that he hijacked the thread. It took me some time to go back and find it.

Actually he has a thread where he explains how he did it without console.
Mind you, I didn´t bother to try if it really works (cause I frankly don´t care for producing glitches, I rather try avoiding them) but before accusing him of cheating you should read this thread and try if the described method works.

If you have done that and found out he lied you can say so; if not we should assume he´s right and not flame him on account of his bad grammar.
MOTpoetryION does at least refrain from flaming everyone with a different opinion what is more than you can say about many of the people here.

If you look at his first screenshot it shows Daveth and Jory in Lothering with the other four members of your party. Sten is in the cage. It can only be accomplished on the PC running runscript e3_addparty - which can add  Jory and Daveth to party. Also Daveth and Jory cannot gain levels and cannot be killed. Because they died at the Joining at level 4.
It cannot be done on the Xbox or PS3. And no I do not call him a liar I let his antics speak for themselves.
Also you will note that he states he has 1300 views with glitches and other what not.
AlanC9 correctly asked (if in a more forceful manner) why anyone would bother doing this. The same question can up in the thread I started. What was the purpose?
In the thread I started he tried to play coy when he said it was not done with a mod or toolset. No he had used the console. Forum members called him on it and he stop posting after that.

You are right he did not use the console. He just used the most convoluted method possible. He simply expolited the teleporation feature. It still does not change the fact that Daveth and Jory cannot go beyond the 4th level which means you cannot change their stats nor can they die. So what is the point? Someone sits around trying to think of ways to break the game. Also what did his post have to do with the OP's original post and everyone else's replies. Also did you try reproducing what he did?

The point I was trying to get across, was that, you entirely missed the point due to you not actually reading.  What you're saying is completely irrelevant.

The irony here is killing me. AlanC9 never said he used the console. Go ahead, try and find where he said that. He said that motpoetryion had to work to get the exploit to happen, which is, obviously, different (and true). Realmzmaster said that motpoetryion has used the console to get other glitches to happen, which is, after all, relevant to a thread about glitches. Realmzmaster also admitted on this page that no, motpoetryion didn't use the console for that particular exploit.



Maybe tone down your anti-jerk campaign and take your own advice on actually reading?

traversc, I'm not going to pretend to have any respect for motPOETRYion -- or you, for that matter. But I never made any baseless accusations. All I ever did was doubt that the particular issues he reported would show up on a normal system during normal play.

I stand by that judgment.

What do you think would happen if you were a hardware store and sold a
lawnmower that was known to have problems, and was only 50 - 90%
complete? The owner would take it back to get his/her money back. Now
say that store refused to do that. All hell would break loose, and
you'd be on the 6:00 news that evening.  Somehow, you get you get away
with this on an almost daily basis.

I love PC games, and
Bioware's games in particular, but this is just ridiculous and taking
waaaay to long to address. It's time we gamers hold these companies
accountable with our dollars, and let them know we aren't going to lie
down and take it.  Marketing half-arsed games as complete just to get our dollars and run with them should not be the norm.  We, as consumers, accepting on good faith that the games we bought with our hard-earned dollars should be the norm.  Getting them at less than 100% which they almost always are should not be the norm.  Not ever getting them 100% fixed in a timely manner should not be the norm.

FYI, Bioware, I am calling the national BBB, and I am also contacting national news stations to see if there is any interest in a story in which consumers are getting ripped off.  Finally, I am not buying another one of your games (and I usually don't buy any others) unless I can be assured through research it is playable without major, game-killing bugs which Awakening certainly has.   Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

If you want a quality fix...be patient.  Haste makes waste.  I am sure Bioware is very well aware of the bugs in the game and is working on it.  But if you want it done right.....it needs to be tweeked and tested before being released.  I think the whole reason it is so buggy is because of the rush to get it out in the first place.

But to get back on point. The OP's original post was on what actions could be taken to hold BioWare/EA accountable. He was thinking about reporting BioWare/EA to the BBB. Most of the posters on the forum were having a civil discussion on the relative merits of any legal possibilities. Legally it would be a quagmire. Basically video games are just a blip or do not register on the legal landscape. The laws in place make it tough to legally force the company to do anything. IMHO.

I think the biggest problem is that there really are no laws as far as what exactly these companies have to do for us. They can release a bug filled game and just sit on their asses and do nothing to fix it and we have no legal recourse to their inaction. (Which is exactly what's happening with this game) I do agree with the OP that there needs to be at least some sort of accountability from these companies, I mean they make billions of dollars profit a year from our purchasing of their games/products, yet their customer service seems to be decreasing as their profits go up sadly. The BBB can't do anything since technically these companies aren't breaking any laws, the only recourse available to us right now is to simply stop giving them our money. If enough people actually stopped buying their games and demanded they start supporting the games they make they might listen, might. The fact remains though that so many people blindly buy up every little thing they release, from games/dlc to T-shirts etc that they make enough money to do nothing in terms of support and still turn a huge profit. Unless we actually find a way to effect their profits, because let's face it money is all they care about, they can continue to ignore us and treat us like sh*t.

I think things are a little different in the UK.

If I dont like a game I can take it back to where ever I brought it within the set amount of days (as set by the store) that is between about 10 and 25 days. Where as they may not be able to give you your money back, they are obligated to give you a different game of the same value. Although I'm not sure if this applies to second hand games as well.

And yes i started to almost spend all my time playing the game with that in my mind.(was not implying anything with the fast screenshot finger comment) Everyone says if you have no screenshot it never happend right? And ALenC9 im not here to feel a need to impress anyone . Its not very high on my list of things to worry about . Forgive me i cant make everyone happy, nor do i try to.
And i did give the devs some leeway because the day/night shift . But in camp its always dark so... But most of all they drive it home over and over ARE YOU READY. ? someone had to of thought what happens if someone puts traps down before the switch? Not ONE? Are these even gammers making these games . They sure dont seem like it. And just saying a little time change like the sky shift to dusk then stays there would of been a nice touch IMO

What issue exactly are we talking about "everything" just because of what i found out was possible? then anything i say means nothing ? Whats the diff. bewtween people looking for xp /money exploits and what i or others do ? Do they not go out of their way to try and look for those?(YES) Or try something different unusual just for the heck of it like Realmzmaster's lothering idea?

Why would someone want to try and keep lothering from being destroyed for as long as possible ,  Realmzmaster? The getting past the tower fire lighting ,with those two jory daveth was a total shock . But learned some pretty cool things that nobody knew about ,but the devs. Like what they say when you take them out of your group. like they had some other plans for them. at some point

Everyone loves to be the first one to dicover an easter eggs or hidden places/rooms or even all the quest triggers. I do but im just put down and called names and worse. Thats fine for a bit untill it goes to far  as it has.

How do you make those little youtube like videos to show you its possible ? or can you put daveth in the fade  with the console ? because thats where daveth  is now not on an island

IMHO it seems like people are starting to forget there are living people on the other side of the conversations. in forums these days

P.s bioware you just need to make a barrier thicker at locked doors/gates , or just make it like the consoles and not have the teleportation option. to prevent this

No i feel that they are pretty well protected with the way they word these software license agreements : e.g. Down to the points that say " if any part is found to be unenforceable for any reason the part shall be reformed only to the extent necessary to make it enforceable. All other parts shall not be affected " Wow thats a nice one there iron clad with option to change it if anything they didnt think of gets found later IMO legal they have it covered for now. But I already have an idea what we have to do to fix this. So dont worry much longer about this guys .

I suspect that he found that the BBB could do virtually nothing in the regard. The only way to get video games companies to change is to do what 13Dannyboy13 suggested. You have to vote with your pocket book. You support the companies that give good customer service and a relatively bugfree product. Unfortunately it has to be based on past experience with the company. For example I will not buy a product with DreamCatcher or Monte Cristo attached to it. I learned the hard way when I purchased the original Dungeon Lords (DreamCatcher) and Silverfall (Monte Cristo). Two games which bought a new low to bug-ridden games. But YMMV.

I have you seen post in many threads that detail out each and every issue people have with the new Dragon Age patch and expansion. At this point I believe he is justified in not needing to personally list out problems as the community has already done so.

At this point the OP is safe to assume the reader is already aware of the issues due to how it easy it is for any player to encounter them in game and there are countless threads / posts about them in the forum.

Anyway. Agreed with the OP but also....I doubt reporting the company will do anything. And I doubt the consumer(s) can realistically do anything short of talking with friends and posting in message boards. But even than that won't reach everyone.

Though it seems like we can obviously not force Bioware or any other company to fix a broken product etc the only thing we can have 100% controll over is what we as individuals purchase. If this upsets you enough don't buy another Bioware product or at the very least...wait wait a few months maybe read the forums and reviews let others experience the bugs. I know I learned a valueable lesson I'm never going to pre-order another game I'll let others deal with the bugs and if they never get fixed I'll never buy the game.

EDIT  and they were trying to say this whole time i  used the console and i have been saying.  "i have not "!!

Yes, and I've seen many rants and reports of 'bugs' that are a result of the user's system or not understanding the game mechanics. Hell, there was one forum member that was ranting for pages in the Tech Support forum about Awakening and how bad all the bugs were. Turns out he didn't even have the expansion, but when he bought and installed it he came back and apologized because the game was working great for him. I do understand what you're saying, but I disagree with it. If he wants to rant and complain, that's certainly his right. But if he wants to be taken seriously, he should post exactly what the issue(s) is/are. That way, at least, it would be easier to see that he has a legitimate beef.

At this point I believe he is justified in not needing to personally list out problems as the community has already done so.

Not all problems are experienced by everyone in the community. As well, a single player may find/experience something that no one else has. This is all valuable information in that it could help others avoid the issue, it could bring to light some new issue, it could possibly result in someone saying "Hey, I know how to fix that" or "That's not a bug. It's the way the game works", or it could reinforce that a particular issue is likely experienced by everyone.

At this point the OP is safe to assume the reader is already aware of the issues due to how it easy it is for any player to encounter them in game and there are countless threads / posts about them in the forum.

It's rarely safe to assume anything.

EDIT ya my post was more  just  for 2 people  and one has already came by and diddnt say anything.  i found that odd? i do have a more direct list i could post  with a few Q 's   for REAL.
