The easy answer is to have Awakenings and take advantage of the Stamina potions there, but that has issues of its own so...
1: Use Talents that provide Stamina Regineration. Rejuvenation and Mass Rejuvenation from the Healing line of Creation Spells comes to mind. Wynne starts with the first of those two and it's the second tier spell right after Heal so it's not hard to pick up. Also the Bard talent Song of Courage (or is it Valor? It's the first tier Bard Talent) also provides Stamina regeneration. Lelania starts with it when you find her.
2: Use Items that cause less Fatigue and/or provide Stamina regineration. The second type are mostly high-end gear, but you can help your non-tank chharacters by using lighter armor so each Talent costs less Stamina.
3: Marshal your uses. Don't have too many sustained Talents active at once, they make your Stamina pool shallow to begin with and add Fatigue besides. Make sure only the high-value Talents are in your Tactics so your characters aren't spamming Talents when you're not in command.
Think that covers the short version. Did that help?

Yes in Dragon Age Origins mages get spells for stamina regeneration. In their tactics modifty cast regeneration on random party member whose stamina <50 pct (or whatever pct you like range is from 90 to 10 pct). If you did the tactics correctly the mage will buff you with her spell automatically in combat when the party members hit this threshold.

Don't start fights with all your sustains active use a few specials, and then activate your sustains--it makes them "free." Warriors have the Deathblow talents, and assassin rogues can get Feast of the Fallen. Either of those will take care of your stamina problem.

Eat more Deep mushrooms with dinner.

I tend to carry deep mushrooms and set a tactic for non-mages to use them when under 10%....they go quick...but it is effective. That combined with a mage also regenerating stamina works fairly well pre-awakenings. Definately - the stamina drought rocks though (awakening potion).

The best way in origins is probably to equip in fullstamina regeneration gear and to avoid stamina-draining sustains as much as possible.

Also not mentioned is never forget to put a few points into willpower as this increases the pool size allowing you to go deeper. But yea as pretty much posted here in this thread is about all you can do with stamina.

Heh. I recommend NOT putting points in willpower. 5 stamina/point is a pretty poor pay-off, and a good way to gimp your character. Put 10 points in willpower and you're sacricing a considerable amount of damage per swing for only 50 stamina. Kill stuff faster, every fight ends faster, and you'll use less stamina.
You're much better off using one of the items that boosts your stamina. Did you know there's a weapon with 75 stamina on it? Yep. That's the equivalent of 15 willpower, or 5 levels (!) worth of stats. Can you imagine if they put 15 strength on a weapon? That'd be crazy, right?! That's because strength (or dex, or magic) is much better than willpower.
If you role-play what stats your character has, then sure, invest in willpower. Just be aware that it's a good way to make a gimpy character. For a mage it has questionable value depending on your build, and everyone else has better stats to invest in.

There are several gear which give stamina regeneration and fatigue bonuses. Having a mage in the party to cast rejuvenate and mass rejuvenation also helps.

Personally, I tend to pour my points into willpower after I've beefed up my strength and/or dex. If you're a rogue, you don't need a ton of strength because you'll get a power that lets you use dex as the hit modifier, and a warrior doesn't need much dex.
Warrior with 42 str (for the best armor possibilities), 20 constitution, 16 cunning, and the rest goes to WP
Rogue needs 13-27 str (depending on what weapons you want them to use), 36-40 dex, 15-20 constitution, 30 cunning, and the rest to WP
Honestly, I rarely run out of stamina on any of my characters with this setup, I tend to leave my sustained powers active at all times, and I haven't had any trouble finishing fights quickly. The damage/attack rate increase I obtain running the sustained powers might not be as showy as the special attacks, but I've noticed that I tend to kill faster with them and only using the highest damaging activated ones a few times per fight with plenty of stamina left over.
