Explain them that following the linear equation of time-space, ussage of the mass relays to surpass the terminal state of energy accumulation without bending the spatial continuum caused a deviation between these components and thus space had expanded faster than time did. With the reapers 'residence' laying that far away from the galaxies centre of time-space dilation, their local time displacement would be far less than that of the rest of the galaxy. We would have left them far behind in time and the could not reach us anymore.

By the time they figured that out, we all long passed away or evolved past the needs of time-space continuum.

Dude, of course they plan to use deus ex - look at how the story's set up, I can't see any ending that doesn't involve at least a little bit.

Lmao, Shepard is going to jump out the normandy. His N7 helmet will fall off then he'll Shepard punch Harbinger in the middle of the fleet.

Well obviously they can't be taken on head-on simply because they're by far more powerful then any fleet the Galaxy can muster. Combined forces of the whole galaxy could take on few of them perhaps and win while suffering also heavy losses, but taking on all of the Reapers.. Heck no, they simply cannot. So obviously the Reapers have to be taken down either by deceiving them (like someone said, let them port in through the Citadel but make them exit somewhere in Galactic core, in middle of black holes) or by introducing some really deadly virus or something to them internally, something which would be transmitted to the whole Reaper fleet. So yeah, sneaky way or tricky way or something like that but head on - seriously doubt it.

I hope not too. It's likely, but going by how both ME games ended there's a chance that it won't end in a contrived way. Knowing this chances are that it will be a hard fought battle. Most likely the is going to be some multi-species coalition involved. Personally I can't think of how a contrived ending can be tacked on to end and resolve the series. 
The only basic examples I can think of are:
1. Shepard somehow becoming a God and crushing the reapers with his/her overwhelming powers.
2. Some contrived ultimate anti-Reaper weapon is found/constructed.
3. The near victorious Reaper armada is somehow defeated in the zero hour by some previously unknown force.

Which ones wouldn't you like to see? There are so many types of Deus ex machina.

I'm thinking the Normandy crew could set up something similar to Monty Python's "Confuse A Cat" sketch for the reapers and they'd wander off afterwards back to dark space.

First, Shep and crew board Harbinger. Then they insert tactical nuke. Next they escape before Harby knows what's going on. Finally BOOM.

While the reaper ships blow up everything around you, and the entire galactic fleet is going through what can only be described as Armageddon, Shepard boards the main reaper which is mysteriously connected mentally to all the other reapers (even though they are nations unto themselves) and shoots the glowing spots with his pistol ending the apocalypse and saving the day. Hooray.
