I do. You're just not reading with your ears correctly.

I just watched the premiere last night and was very impressed. A great intro to the companion, some hardcore smack-talking from the Doctor, and crystal spaceships with giant eyes.

Also, Amy Pond is HAWT! I'm a sucker for the various UK/European accents *swoon*.

Dr. Who has only been around for, what, 50 years now?

I had forgotten about the Doctor with the young Amelia. Actually was feeling pretty good about the new Doctor climbing out of his library and through the pool to get out.

Fish sticks and custard.

I watched 2001 when I was ten, but hadn't heard of Doctor Who until I was twenty. But I've got a lot of incongruous elements to my pop culture knowledge.

No, only since 1963, around 47 years.

She's got a fairly weak Scottish accent. It sort of comes and goes. But yeah, she's pretty cute.

I just hope they don't... Well, go stupid with it. In the past decade or so, with the rise of CGI and "realistic" effects, a lot of shows like Doctor Who have just gone stupid. I hope they don't go any sillier than Episode 3.

At some parts in the first episode she almost sounds American to my ears.

Louise Jameson was hawtsauce.

I've only really ever been into the old 60s and 70s stuff. It's the retro nerd in me, I guess. :P

I'm mostly familiar with the end of the Jon Pertwee Doctor and most of the Tom Baker run. The regeneration from Jon Pertwee to Tom Baker was the first regeneration I saw.

I never got to see it on TV. My uncle introduced me to it through the magic of VHS! I think the first one I saw was the The Brain of Morbius and as a small person it scared me to death! :D

It was always shown on PBS, because that was the only place to go and watch Britcoms and shows like Red Dwarf and Doctor Who and the old Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I loved it when they had their annual fundraising drives because they would have marathons of shows.

Many were increasingly of the opinion that they'd all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that even the trees had been a bad move, and that no one should ever have left the oceans.

D.A.

Now that is a show that needs to be made.

Ha! That must have been great! As a kid I couldn't figure out why all the shows on TV were so dull when my uncle had all this cool stuff on tape.

Then I learned about this thing called the seventies. :P

I have only seen the first episode of the season so far, and I enjoyed it quite a lot.  The ending speech when facing down the Atraxi was great.  I am hoping it will continue to be as good as the Tennant years.  Before that I had only seen episodes sporadically going back as far as the sixth/seventh Doctor years.  :(

I saw my first Dr. Who way back in the 60s as a very small boy and pretty much watched it since. I think the new series is very good so far. I am very relieved that RTD is no longer involved as he very, very nearly wrecked it, IMO. Steve Moffat is excellent person to have at the helm, having written some of the best stories for the series ever.

I prefer Matt Smith to David Tennant. I think he comes across as more intelligent. Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) has got real attitude and is exceptionally easy on the eye, so another good choice.

I will let the series unfold and see how it goes, but so far, I think it is shaping up well.

Dr Who has always been watchable by young children. Hiding behind the sofa, peering out at Dr. Who has almost become an early rite of passage here in the UK!

Saw just the first ep this past weekend here in the U.S. and it was great! :) I really enjoyed Matt's performance, and Karen seems a good pick as a companion. DEFINITELY easy on the eyes! :)

Soooo...can anyone tell me if they noticed this, or if I'm just dreaming things up...the crack in the wall in Amy's room that the Doctor tells her is actually not in the wall but in the universe - it formed a ragged pattern that was almost like a grin. At the end of the ep, while standing in the new TARDIS near a monitor screen, there is a pattern which to me looks pretty much the same as the crack in the wall. I haven't seen more than the first ep, but it seems that this could be a series-long theme in a way similar to how the Doctor and Donna were thrown together by "fate" (ala - Dalek Caan) in series four. Thoughts?

I'm loving Matt Smith right now.

I loved Tennant but I felt like the last season and the 4 specials he did weren't all that great (not his fault) so I was more than ready for the change.

Smith's doing a good job of blending the 10 with some the qualities of the older Doctors.

Waters of Mars was good, I thought.

The Next Doctor had a good first half and a bad second half.

Planet of the Dead was almost all "meh". A couple of good jokes.

The End of Time I liked too, though obviously the last 10 minutes is the best part.
