i can second the cut-scenes stoppage prob

cutscenes run at maybe 1 frame per hour-

then it goes back to normal, then halts down again.

completely unplayable- don't know what's going on.

but i'm near the end and would like to finish the game...

I have tried even more things, updating windows, updating .net framework, forcing headphone audio, reverting graphic drivers, turning off profile uploads, disabling screen-shots..sooo many things. The stuttering out of no where is just baffling to me!!!

I don't understand, the game was running flawless for me...

also having this problem, it's not unplayable, but it's making my loading times when changing areas frustrating as hell. exiting my game gives me another 30 mins before it gets bad again.

my only other idea is to try and start another game. See if i can make it happen early on- it hadn't started this until recently though. Did they change something?

I first noticed it after the patch, i got the patch just after leaving the first town after lighting the tower signal and have been dealing with the problem almost since then. I can't say for sure if it was the patch that did it though.

I tried deleting save files thinking there were too many, still no fix..

This is extremely bad for my game progress, I'm where Zevran ambushes you. I defeat him and his party with no issues, it goes to cut-scene..then slows down to 1-2 fps slide-show and just pretty much halts...have to alt-tab out and kill it.

to get to the download cache, open the configuration program from the launcher, pick repair from the list on the left and it's down at the bottom of the central menu... this has been shown to help with DLC being unrecognized as 1.01 compatable too

yeah download cache didn't work either..this is pretty ridiculous. I'm just baffled as to why all of a sudden stuttering cut-scene is happening?? It's unplayable for me, I mean sure I can start over but come on, that's not an answer i want to hear..what if I get back to the same place again..bam..stuttering, I would be even more pissed.

ok let's try and rule out the patch- as soon as i get control of my pc back (i'm froze mid-cutscene now) let's try reinstalling, and leave off the patch. see if we can get through- might have to go back a couple of saves- since patch changes some data (to avoid poss corrupt data). ? any takers?

Re-installed already, I never installed the patch because of all its' issues.

I'm at a loss, I loaded a different character and defeated Zevran with zero cutscene issues. Something is wrong here..

Have you checked ea support to see if they have any solutions? They own bioware now and all official support is through that website not this one.

these forums are so borked sometimes when it comes to linking a simple freaking url...so just type in support.ea.com since the forums being retarded.

well doing a resource trace, i found out that mine crawls and the disk access goes through the roof? once the HD stops, then it's back to normal. maybe it's loading something?

I know this won't help syklonis01 but I have the exact same system as you and I haven't had many problems (couple of blue screens which is rather strange but no stuttering), the i7 920, 6gb ram and the 1gb GTX 285, can play it at 8x AA 1680x 1050, max settings no prob. maybe if we figure out whats different between our systems we might find out your culprit. You certainly shouldn't be having any problems.

Running Vista Home premium 64bit with COMODO internet Security (firewall portion only) and AVG free 9.0 antivirus, running NVIDIA 190.62 Drivers.

i'm beginning to wonder if this is a disc check issue. da seems to spawn a child process at certain spots. maybe this is copy protection gone awry? do anyone having this issue use a cd emulator software? I have clone drive installed, but i'm not using it- my da disc in in my external cd/rw drive! (it's usb)

--nope -not copy protection... i give up until they release an update. game is dead-ended for me now.

I have noticed the spike in HD access. Maybe I should let it install into the default location..I don't like doing that ever since I partition a drive specifically for gaming. But it sure can't hurt.

yes, it bounces back and forth from peaking network bandwidth and then back to HD bandwidth. this could be an SQL related issue... Bug guys-> feel free to msg me, i'll send you my save or whatever else you think you need to track it.

Well so far it seems I have fixed my problem for now. I blame it on the storage chest the dev posted on these forums. Removing it along with another clean install seems to be working. This time I also re-downloaded all the DLC content. So far so good, got past the Zevran cut-scene with zero issues...So either it was the storage chest or the DLC that was messing up for me.  Wasted like 5 hours figuring this crap out....

strangely enough it installed my copy of Dragon Age Origins, into D:\\Games without me even changing it, as it seemed to want that to be the default location, the only thing I have noticed is that it takes longer to load areas up if you ahve been playing for an hour or more, the game takes longer to load levels and such, unless you exit the game and resume.

I have the same problem to.I will play for an hour then the game will take longer to load.It seems the longer you play it uses more memory.I for the life of me cant figure out how a bug or technical problem is there. The game was delayed for a while in that time thetyclaimed to have tested it.

The only thing we can do is wait for bioware to patch it are give us an explanation.

yes save files have more data the more you do.

i'll try reinstall and not using the storage chest-hopefully that will clear all of this mess up!!

the storage chest is an add-on a developer posted that puts a chest for storing your items in your camp :)

as opposed to the one in the Warden's Keep... I see... interesting... maybe there's a conflict of some kind between the two?

You might also want to double-check that you aren't playing while logged in to the server. And you might consder disabling the "auto-screenshot" feature. I think that's possible.
