Regardless of the number of presents available I believe that the key is in the amount of approval/disapproval any given action is going to cause. In the example set by the link you see approval shifting 10 points due to some in game descision while offering a gift to atone only yields a 5 point change. Therefore, if you wanty to keep everybody happy you will probably either have to restrict the number of quest you go on or select your teammembers very carefully for each round of exploring. And if the romance mechanisms are comparable to those of Baldurs Gate II (you never know) you would be forced to keep your romance interest around for quite a bit, leading to difficulties maintaining the happy relation with everybody.
All of it being pure speculation ofcourse.

I just think it will be interesting to see how they react to each of my different characters because that definitely will affect my strategy..................

On the other hand, wouldn't it be simplistic in itself just to throw a bunch of stuff at a companions way to keep them around? Maybe I'm over analyzing but I'm hoping it's more complex than giving your companions phat lewtz to keep their loyalty.
haha, I am hoping I can do it by giving gifts, because I probably won't make some of them happy otherwise and I wanted everybody to like me
Also, I get a feeling that my persuasion skills will be at their max level in all my playthroughs.

I really hope i can truely show favortism. I kinda bugs me whe your mean to the whiney NPC and they just don't take the hint. I also hope there'll be party banter that changes according to approval/disapproval. so you find NPCs that don't like you slagging you off while the ones that do defending you.

Judging by the track record Bioware has, I think it will be quite hard to drive your companions off by accident. For those who really want to bully their "friends", the options are obviously there though.

hhmm this seems very interesting, I didn't know about this but this is kinda ok with me because I normally tend to agree with 1.how I want my character to be played and than how I I want hie/her love interest to play out....

It would be cool & interesting if ya could develop relationships with companions that were like 'friendly rivalry' type stuff! Or other such things.
