If you did as I did had a relationship as an example with Ashley Williams in ME1 and then Miranda Lawson ME2 then surely ME3 you will have rivarly between the 3 if them both are on ME3 in the same ship.

I am sure this will be the same story for if you choose the other characters in ME1 and ME2. The only one i think is an exception maybe Thane because of him dying however I think he will live in the 3rd mass effect but die afterwards.

You could also have love rivarlies with characters that have not have love relations with before as a example, Samara, some other characters as an example you could have aria from Omega, The investigator from Noveria and the Ascari from feros. (if you let her help Feros)  And of course any new characters they add to the game if they do at all.

I do hope that there will be acknowledgment of your LI choices. I suspect that my days of bringing Kaidan and Garrus on every mission will be over with the character that chose to romance the Big G in ME2, as that would be just cruel, but it could lead to some really great banter. Anything that would cause more inter-NPC chatting while I'm walking along an empty hallway is aces in my book.

Yes, Bioware has said this a long time ago.

We don't know if there will be any kind of LI rivalry in ME3, so the topic title is a little misleading. I believe BioWare has said that if you cheta on your ME1 LI there would be "consequences" and that's it. For all we know, you just get a scene where your ME1 LI has an awkward break-up scene with Shepard and that's it.

That's not really consequence, thats what you would anticipate if you cheated on ME1 LI, I assume it's going to at least be something that makes us go "Oh Crap" otherwise there is no point in them warning us about it.

I think if you cheat on your LI from ME1 it may affect your ability to recruit that LI for ME3. And that consequence could affect your game.

Something that will make you say, "But...but...but...I was just blowing off steam!  He/she meant nothing to me!"   Somehow, I don't think that would fly with the ME1 LIs.

I'm interested in Kaidan's and Garrus's for my femShep, and Liara's and Miranda's for my male Shep.

Liara and Miranda know each other. I thought that would be interesting, seeing how that might develop, and Liara's reaction - "Yeah, yeah, give your lover's body to the Cerberus femme fatale, Liara, what could possibly go wrong?"

I wouldn't be too sure about that.

She may be sexually open-minded, but she's not immune to betrayal.

I think there will be exactly one "choose me" scene like in ME1 and little more.
Because 'faithful' Sheps, or Sheps that waited until ME2 to romance someone would miss too much.

But wouldn't that make for good sales value for ME1 and ME2 for people who start with ME3? I know I picked up the first game specifically so that I could have a character (well, three, now) to import so that I didn't miss anything.

I really hope that BioWare won't decide to "punish" players for "cheating" in any way. A single scene that acknowleges your choice is ok, but a gameplay disadvantage in any way is not. After all, for all intends and purposes Ash/Kaidan have already broken up with Shepard. If you decide to give them another chance, that should lead to a sweet reunion, but if you don't - sorry, they are not in position to be angry about it.

I hope paragon will allow you to resolve the situation and you can choose to go back or stay with current and renegade will help you completely shatter either Li hearts which will effect them like loyalty does.

Golly gee whizz, I hope they cut out all that silly shooting and saving the galaxy from the Reapers stuff and replace it with more romance subplots.

Bioware already mention there be effects for "cheating" so it's not like we're asking them to include it.

It'll be a brief, 5 minute cutscene with a bit of angry dialogue, then a follow up e-mail 30 minutes later.

------

Come on, you know that's what's going to happen.

I'm intrigued as to how the ME LIs will find out, is EDI or Joker going to tell them or something. Specially interested to know how it will play out if the ME2 LI dies during the suicide mission :wizard:

My femShep romanced Kaidan in 1 and Garrus in 2... I can only imagine what it'd be like to travel with those two again... Or see Kaidan's face when he learns I've ditched him for a turian. >_> (Haven't finished ME2 yet so don't know if you meet him again after the raging on Horizon.)

Imagine the fireworks if a person dumped Ash for Tali.

Bring on the drama.

How? If ME 2 is an indication, then ME 3 will probably restart the romances AGAIN.

i dont see that much cheating on shep part, expecially if me1 LI was Liara... when you meet her all she bother about is the shadow brooker and to ask you favors and no way she join you or seem to care about you
i wonder if Shep was not cheated here as if all that obsession and anger comes from the loss of a "close friend" i can only think how can that friend be important for Liara (for sure more than Shep)

for Ash is more problematic but even there really... in me1 is ready to follow you everywhere and when you meet her in me2 she seem to lack any trust in you and in your judgment... when you recruit Garrus or Tali (both dont like Cerb) you can make it pretty clear that you dont trust cerberus and you want to have someone you trust at your side... why that is so problematic for Ash? still must admit that her mail is nice :)

Hey cool, so if Shepard romances Liara in ME1 and someone else in ME2, will Liara pursue the Normandy in another ship while wearing a diaper so she doesn't have to stop? Your post amde me think of that one astronaut who went nuts.
