Does anyone know if there will be a system that will allow you to keep the look of a certain armor set, but get the stats of another set? For instance if you like the appearance of armor set A, but like the stats of armor set B could you just have armor set A on for the looks or would you be stuck with armor set B?

You could always create a new piece of armor in the toolset with the appearance of A and the stats of B.

Or if you're an evil cheater, you could use the toolset to make an armor that looks like Armor A but is the best armor in the game.

(I'm not using the toolset myself until I finish playing the game at least once. I am thus resolved.)

How is this the worst idea ever?  You dont even have to use it.

I like the Idea, I hate in games having to give up a nice looking outfit for something that looks really strange but gives a good boost to my abilities.

Like Fable 2? Hated how armor didn't matter.

Ahh, the age old dilemma of choosing armor: fashion or function? Personally, having that choice adds to my immersion in a game. And it makes those outfits that are both badass looking and powerful that much more precious of a find.

So, in my opinion, I wouldn't prefer this option. Seems more geared toward multiplayer games, anyway.

Huge difference here. In an mmo such a thing is a boon because you can't just fire up the tool set or download a mod to give you cool armor, you're stuck with whatever they give you and not everyone has the same idea of what's nice looking. LotrO has a fair amount of people who like being part of the world and not an every day 'hero' too. I loved the back packs in that game. ;)

But in Dragon Age or any single player game for me it's looks first stats later, I'll make up the lack of stats with potions or something, but I gotta look good!

I think in Aion you can do just that but not in Dragon Age

Same here, Eshaye, same here. My characters tend to be vain creatures.

Fable 2 didn't have armor. Just clothes.

Starting a level 30 and only with certain armors and cost money, it's disappointing imo, in Eq2 and LotrO it starts at level 20 and available with virtually anything you can equip....

I don't understand what you mean by it's "geared toward multiplayer games". What does playing with other people online have anything to do with wanting to control your physical appearence while wanting good stats at the same time? I don't think it's unreasonable to ask, as long as they put requirements like you can't be naked, you can't be a warrior wearing robes and you can't be a mage wearing a full suit of armor. I want to enjoy my game rather than deal with what's "realistic". And liking the way your avatar looks can be a pretty imortant aspect for many.

Ah well, I guess I'll have to wait for people to get their hands on the toolset for just a such feature. But, on the other hand, there isn't a robe or set of armor/leather that I didn't like the look of so far, so perhaps there's no need. As long as my female warrior doesn't have to deal with massive thigh and mid-drift exposure . I know many people enjoy that, but I do not for immersion reasons >.>.

I'd have to agree with those who say that with included mod tools, it's not an issue. Roll your own. I'm sure that replacing the model on a piece of armor is trivially easy.

Well, I do always hate having to wear a ridiculous helmet or like a pink robe or something for the stat bonus. I usually opt to just go with something with worse stats that looks better to be honest.

It's a god-send in MMO's, especially those that have appearances for every individual piece of armor. I HATE walking around in a hodge-podge outfit that looks like I made it from a clown's closet.

Would be cool in this game, but really not necessary.

remeber playing wow and through the first like 30 levels and always looking at my avatar and going "Man. I hate that armor. I hate that little midget cape and that stupid pirate ship steering wheel/shield. Why would someone make purple shoulder pads that big? Why did I make purple shoulder pads that big?"

At least the armor in dragon age looks a lot more realistic then all that right? mean, it does look pretty real, so maybe having miss matched armor won't look so bad?

The complaint here is silly, Dragon Age won't have even close to the amout of variety in armor models that MMOs have, so therefore Dragon Age would be able to make sure that the majority of it's armor was pleasing to the eye. Infact the only time I am ashamed to wear armor is in MMOs when some of the stuff you pick up can be quite unbecoming of your character or flamboyant. Also I wouldn't be surprised if you could turn certain things off in DA, like your helm, cloak or boots.
