Is Warp Ammo worth it for Infiltrators?

I remember a while back, I think it was Average Gatsby, said bonus ammo powers might not really be worth it for an Infiltrator because the number of sniper rounds it would take to kill something very rarely, if ever, actually changes depending on your ammo type.

Has the jury come out on that?  I'd love to just stick to Disruptor if that's the case.  Earlier access to Squad Cryo for my SMG-wielding teammates, and Disruptor is one of the most aesthetically pleasing ammo powers too. >.>  And access to a more fun bonus power like flashbangs.

For Insanity difficulty, disruptor rounds alone aren't cutting it. You have heavy armored enemies like Krogan and Scions that will result in you running out of ammo quite often, thus rendering your sniper useless. Collector Drones at end-game are 1 body-shot with Widow using Warp ammo, but not AP or Disruptor. If you're using Disruptor alone you'd have to perform perma-cloaked headshots and even then you risk running out of ammo way too often.

Like I posted in the other infiltrator ammo power thread:

Let me put it this way.
Without any ammo power, an infiltrator with a widow can take down the endboss before it starts attacking.
(Without using heavy weapons)
Well, that's assuming you have squadmates contributing to the damage.

Personally, I'd go with a "cool" bonus power, preferably with a short cooldown ... like slam (at 3s).

There's such a thing as pwning too much.

I almost never run out of sniper ammo, even though I use it for the majority of fights.

Mind you, I use the Viper...

Tbh the only time I have ever though to myself 'gee it would be nice if I had Warp ammo right now' is against the Praetorians. They're the only enemy in the game that have a really strong Barrier.

As for Armour, bring someone with Squad Incendiary to take care of it if the whole mission will be full of Armour (Tuchanka, Jack's loyalty, Mordin's recruitment, Reaper IFF etc). Otherwise don't worry about it. Infiltrators don't have difficulty with armour.

Eh, praetorian barriers ... just SMG it?

Seems to disappear quite rapidly with SMG shield piercing.

Do most people use nothing but the sniper when playing an Infiltrator then? I find an ammo power useful for beefing up my SMG and heavy pistol because I use them quite often. I don't go for Warp Ammo though, because it's biotic.

I sometimes take Energy Drain for the Infiltrator but I tend to prefer preserving my cooldown for Cloak and Incinerate.

I use Warp Ammo on my Infiltrator.

It's versatile and pretty good.

I prefer Ammo powers as I like to save the cooldowns for my cloak.

I use the sniper rifle at long range ... but I use all the infiltrator weapons.

SMG more than the others, actually .. due to ammo.

As fast as a Praetorian's barrier goes down, it's never fast enough when you've got those blue lazors of doom pointed at you.

I use all my weapons as an Infiltrator. Pistol at medium-close range against armour, SMG against shields and barriers, shotgun when I'm close, sniper when I'm not so close. Sometimes I just don't bother to switch weapons or just don't have the time, so I do end up sniping for most of the game (less so now with the Locust though).

The thing is, the Heavy Pistol and Sniper Rifle are very very good at tearing through armour whether you have an ammo power helping you or not. I mean it's usually two shots at most on a standard enemy. And then they're frozen and no longer your problem. It's a similar story for SMG and shields/barriers. Where ammo powers make a more noticeable difference imo is when using weapons on their non-ideal targets, which you shouldn't be doing unless you've got an ammo problem.
