The Talimancers are uber nice. If you go into their thread they're so polite and welcoming and very reasonable. Even if you're not one of them.
I dunno where all the negativity charged around their group comes from. Seems odd.
Some of us are. I would even say most. But not all. There are some bad apples and it does us no good to deny it.
There's a lot of us who are perfectly willing to acknowledge other people's viewpoints and preferences. I believe myself to be one of them. There are, however, some who get really upset if anyone has an opposing view and who's experience with trolls have driven them to become bitter.
And then there are the trolls. Tis best not speak of them.
Then I guess I've never really met those people. Every time I've popped into the Tali thread they've always been nice - if occasionally a little sensitive to any mention of the Talimancer stigma.). Most of them are nice people and actually did not believe I was a troll. Much respect, good people, fun people most of the times. Others just take Tali waaay too seriously and others troll these guys just to ****** them off, but eh, what can a man do about that.
But the priiiiiiiiiiiiize.
Shepard, what the hell!
Still... The risk was worth it

No, not trolling. I actually only got Mass Effect within this month, and I haven't been on here long enough to experience even a significant fraction of the opinions on here. I've seen a lot of Tali love and hate, but a lot less of explanations why.janeym27 wrote...

Here we go again.
The Tali-love/hate thing has been done to death. It just leads to flame wars and bad feelings. Ask in the Tali thread if you want reasons to love her. Check the numerous threads which have devolved into Tali-hate for the negatives. To be honest, I've even heard people say they hate her because her fans love her so much, which seems silly. Either way, there is no way this thread will end well.
But if you are just trolling then you already know that.
And, I would go on the Tali love forum (I hadn't even thought of that as a possibility before. It seems like a better way, now) but the last time I tried, my Internet crashed from the sheer volume of posts.
Make sure to have some bleach set asside for your eyes.
Sorry. Tali is a popular troll topic. Yeah. This comes up a lot. A lot of the explanations for the basic love/hate are here already.
And yes, Collider has a point (regarding all characters, to a degree). Go with caution. There is some stuff that once seen, cannot be unseen.
And enjoy Mass Effect!

It is simple. You never see her face. So you can imagine whatever you want, even if you dont do that on purpose. She is flexible. Compatible for everyone. It is not because "she was on ME1" nostalgia, she was quite popular back then too. It is the mask, believe me.

Besides Tali and Garrus, as you can see by my avatar, Joker is my favorite. My Shepard would go gay for him if the opportunity arose.

Her personality is what grabs most of us.

She wasn't as popular. I wasn't interested in Tali as a LI in ME1. I changed my mind in ME2, based on the changes to her personality.
The mask plays a part - I won't deny that - and there is certainly an element of "imagining" what's behind it. But I don't think that's the main driving force. I really just don't.

I think it's the fact that it's not just the Tali fans here. It's a question directed at the Tali fans, who've wanted an opportunity to answer for a while. Plus, it's frankly more interesting than some of what's going on both in the native thread and other character threads at the moment.
