Did I miss the chance after getting to Lothering for the first time? Will I ever see him again?
Is Fergus gone for good?

No, you will see him again (if you don't die during the last fight) at the end of the game.iCrescendoll wrote...
Do you get a chance finding him when first arriving to Lothering? Where you discuss Alistair & Morrigan about further plans?
He will tell you a little story about what happened to him.

Alistair will always sacrifice himself for his love interest. Only way to avoid that is by doing the ritual or by leaving him at the front gates.

Alistair can be persuaded not to do it, but if you're in a romance with him he will automatically take the final blow.Aisynia wrote...

Loghain can be persuaded as well (he is much easier to persuade than Alistair).

Edit:by ejoslin, I should have known.
That's exactly what I'm talking about.
I usually don't romance alistair though, I don't like goofy guys IRL, and I don't like em in games. I do romance him, but I'm not as involved as I would be if he was somewhat serious about anything

I haven't played Awakning yet, I started over at Origins..
And what happens if Alistair's on the gates and I kill the Archdemon? Do I actually die?
What happens afterwards??

I'm awful like that.. if you happen to glance through my history on any forum.. I edit about 75% of my posts cause I always jump the gun on hitting post. I post, and then I'm like "well.. I didn't say everything I meant to/wanted to".

You can recrute Loghain during the Landsmeet (bye bye Alistair).iCrescendoll wrote...

If Alistair is at the gates and you made him king during the Landsmeet, he will be king. You will die if you say no to Morrigan's offer.
You will get a nice funeral and Alistair will tell a few things about you.
You should die at least once and not only for the achievement. The epilogues from your companions are very sweet (if you're friends with them).
edit: because I can spell obnoxious.

Yes, you die. You get a funeral (I find it rather touching).
And you can recruit Loghain by refusing to execute him after your duel, though Alistair will throw a hissy fit and leave the party if you do that.

Agreed.. I actually very much enjoy the epilogue that results from your death...
And to be perfectly honest, while I usually do the ritual and take the glory.. I find the ending where you kill yourself on the Archdemon to be more satisfying.

I agree, with some Wardens the US seems more 'fitting'.Aisynia wrote...

In my most recent playthrough the ending isn't going how I planned it..
Alistair was supposed to marry Anora so he would stay in the game and I could recrute Loghain, but Alistair turned on me so now he has been kicked out of my team.
I wanted Loghain to die during the last fight, so I want to say no to Morrigan's ritual.. but now Morrigan has given my mage the friend/sister speech, so I'm not sure if I can say no to her this time. xD

It's worth doing at least once. Romance Leliana or the dirty man instead, playing a non human or mage.
Dwarves and City Elves work good for that IMO.
You get Loghain very late, but you can do Return to Ostagar with him, and he's generally fun to have along. He has a lot of dialogue to let you get to know him better. He doesn't have a personal quest, but he does have party banter with other members and such.
Getting to know him can be interesting and rewarding in his own right, but don't plan on staying in any romance with Alistair, he really hates you after that.. can't stand that though. David Gaider explained why he throws such a hissy fit, but I still think he's being ridiculous.

You can only make Alistair marry Anora while pardoning Loghain if you 'harden' his personality first, during his personal quest with Goldanna.

Yes, you can recrute Loghain. I've done it twice. Once for the achievement (what? I want all of them) and this time I'm taking him back to Ostagar. I must say I really like his character, he is much better than Alistair.
I have romanced Alistair twice but I don't think he would make a great king. The only way for him to be a great king is through the political marriage with a fem Cousland or by marrying Anora. I even prefer not to harden him for the political marriage because the idea of my Warden ruling alone is a nice ending.
@Xandurpain, I know that. I thought I had hardened him, but apparently not. xD
Doesn't matter, I don't mind losing him.
