Dont buy the gifts and pranks its really a waste of your money. Some gifts or pranks do not work (pc) and it is really a cheat because you have enough gifts to get every one at 100 in not time (at the first time in camp).

I usually only use gifts when an ally disapproves of a particular action and I want to maintain their high approval, or I want to get a specialization unlocked a.s.a.p. (wanted templar unlocked before I reached lv 7).

If money is tight, I either wait or don't bother with them. Most of the really good gifts are given to you free anyway, and the most of the expensive gifts for Shale are bugged and only give +1, even though you paid good money for them.

I wouldn't download this even if it was a free mod.

For April 1 Bioware should've put up a free Horse Armor DLC and made a big to-do about how they don't charge their customers for Horse Armor DLC unlike some folks.  And sure enough, Bodahn Feddic would have a nice assortment of horse armors of various materials in stock, with all sorts of fanciful descriptions and interesting stats and "Restriction: Horse" to drive the point home.

And then wait and see how long it was before someone pointed out that the game doesn't have horses.

King Cailan: "I'd hoped for a war like in the tales! A king riding with the fabled Grey Wardens against a tainted god!"

Riding what, good King Cailan?  Riding what?

I tihnk it's really up to each individual to determine if it's a waste of money or not. I've seen posts by people that thought it was well worth the 3 bucks. Personally, the concept didn't appeal to me, so I didn't opt to buy it.

Sure everybody needs to do what he pleases.....but it's my opinion...nothing more nothing less.

It's a total waste of money and a cruel joke by BioWare towards a fanbase who is waiting for an update, after being given a broken expansion pack and a patch that had more bugs than fixes.

Posted Image  Whoever is in charge of their Marketting should be fired!  Whoever thought up this gifting drivel and the Bazaar as an EPIC event should be sacked!  Posted Image  This sort of stuff looks good on the marketting board and may earn a few quick cheap dollars but is not anything substantial that players would really want in a game.
Posted Image  Give us a real DLC with some lasting effect.  How about a Party Camp DLC where you can do crafting (ie poison, potions, trap) while in camp.  Add a camp storage chest similar to Warden's Keep.  And to add some colour -  maybe have the party members change out of their full armour and have them wander about the camp, cooking food, talking to each other, taking baths, shaving, eating a meal, playing fetch with Dog, lying down healing from previous injuries, sleeping in their tents, etc etc.  Could also change the scenery of the camp site depending on what part of Ferelden the camp is located.  A DLC something like this is what I'd get excited about!!  Posted Image

Seragorn, why did you think anyone would care about your opinion? It's of no importance to BioWare, obviously, since they already know you didn't buy it.

I'm only reading the thread because I find gamer behavior interesting.

Instead of complaining that the DLC being offered was NOT to your liking, offer up a suggestion of what you WOULD like to see in DLC format.

Why should i? And if no one is complaining everything would be just fine dont you think? But just for you i liked the other  DLC but this one just sucks, sorry.

I only want for other people to think twice before adding this DLC

Didn't read my second paragraph, I see. And you didn't answer the question. About what I expected, really.

You asked, "Why should I?"  The answer to that is obvious:  how else will they know what you want?  They can't read your mind.  You'll find that people tend to respond better to constructive criticism than petulant whining - the latter tactic only works for children trying to get parents' attention.

What "other DLC" did you like?   FYI, I did not buy the tricks & pranks either. Why pay real money just to get "goody points" with your NPC's?

What I want is more content/areas, more NPCs/companions, more monsters/adversaries, and yes more gear/stuff (though that's my lowest priority because modders are churning it out just fine).

Some of the stuff I want I know will probably never come in a DlC format, like: more classes, deeper specializations (deeper, not more), more interesting abilities/spells (not just overpowered ones), more playable races, and more weapon types.

It's weird what people would consider valuable or not. I'd pay $3 for a DlC that does nothing but add polearms, throwing weapons, and dueling swords to the game. Just as item prototypes, even if there are few actual exemplars, so that modders can start churning out more.

On the other hand, I can raise or lower approval of my companions with the console. Yes, I know that's "cheating". And I get to watch a prank animation while doing it? With no real dialogue reaction? Meh. And meh again.

I'm a big fan of bioware and i'm loathe to complain about them but the gift DLC was a complete rip off , when i seen it on xbox live i assumed it was free and thought it was a nice little thing to give away , was shocked that it actually cost money . OPlease bioware you are a well respected company with a very loyal fanbase , don't start taking advantage and churning out this rubbish.

Today I bought Awakening, Return to Ostagar, and the Gifts/Pranks (I was away on an extended holiday). I'm probably going to wrap myself up in Awakening for the next few days and maybe after that I'll find some time to go back to the original to check out the DLC.

I think it's great that Bioware are still committed to working on Dragon Age and are releasing content (even if I'm slow to notice/purchase it), and if I can show my support by opening my wallet and giving them a few dollars then I appreciate the opportunity.

Keep up the great work. The game's brought me many hours of enjoyment, and I'm sure it will bring many more in the future.

It was alright. I think it should have been a free April 1st thing as a thank you to their playerbase. But for $3, its fine, nothing to write home about. I would not recommend it.

IMO, this is what is wrong with this particular DLC. It completely makes the choices/decisions you make immaterial.

One of the best thing about RPGs for me is when the actions you choose to make affect the game.

The gifts/pranks let you completely customize the approval/disapproval system and your mates disposition towards  you, no matter what decisions you make in-game, completely neutering the best part of the game, IMO.

But that's the beauty of optional DLC. For you (and me) this particular DLC wasn't worth it, for various reasons. So the obvious solution is to not buy it. You don't like how it would affect your game choices, but others may find it valuable for just that reason.

I don't agree with the mentality that people should buy whatever DLC is available to show support for more DLC (not exaclty stated in this thread, but hinted at). Buy what you like and pass on what you don't. The sales numbers will show BioWare what they should concentrate on. Of course, people are free to do what they want, but buying just for the sake of showing support isn't going to be an indicator of what kind of content you'd really like to see.
