I can't believe people still remember Spirited Away .
Why should anyone forget a Miyazaki classic? I still remember Princess Mononoke, and that one was from 1997.

What was the name of that one where there is a war between giant caterpillars and humans, and the humans have a giant bio weapon resembling something from resident evil called the "giant warrior"? That movie was pretty cool.

Too late at night to tell a joke from serious, but that sounds like Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. I really like watching Nausicaa, then one of his newer movies; you can really see how he's evolved, and the foundations for his later stylistic twists.

That sounds right, but I didn't know there was more than one Naussicaa movie.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is the best anime of all time - the first season anyway. No one can listen to Hare Hare Yukai and not want to dance it themselves.
FLCL, Death Note, Hellsing Ultimate, and Elfen Lied are really good too.
Oh, and the english dubbed version of Ghost Stories.

Aside from what's airing, currently finishing up Gintama, and debating on sub or dub for Kaze no Stigma. About to watch Ergo Proxy again with a friend soon, among other things.

Anime for the most part is garbage, but I did enjoy Cowboy Bebop and the first half of Death Note.

Nausicaa is a great movie.
I would have listed Robotech, but I think that it is questionable if it still qualifies as anime.
I could list lots of series and movies I liked, but I was trying to stick to ones that contend for favorite.
There are definitely other cool things out there I liked, such as Metropolis and The Slayers.

No, there's only one--though the manga was multi-volume. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is just the full title.bobobo878 wrote...

Hmm, there's one Anime I think quite highly of, and that's Arjuna.
The whole series was quite, well... unique in terms of dealing with our modern society, and it showed some interesting viewpoints on that behalf.
And I love the soundtrack.

Are we talking about feature length film's or serialised show's, Paprika and Tokyo Godfather's are two awesome anime movie's, but my all time favourite is Akira, i had to watch that a good five time's to get all the angle's, i guess because so much was missing from it's transition from manga to Anime, serie's wise the first two Season's of bleach are really good and Naruto is a guilty pleasure of mine ...

Grave of the Fireflies.
If you ever have kids, show this to their young, impressionable, innocent minds. I promise it will not mentally scar them and leave a dark chapter in their childhood.
I swear, even now, watching that movie gets the tears running.

Grave of the Fireflies is so filled with sad it's unbearable to watch the second time. No thanks. I'll stick to FLCL.

I can't ever watch Grave of the Fireflies again. Too depressing. I buy the candy tin thats in the movie sometimes whenever I'm at an Asian supermarket though.
Hmm, my favorite anime...definitely Evangelion. I just loved the story and its apocalyptic nature. It blew me away the first time I saw it. Second favorite would have to be Elfen Lied. Bloody, violent, and tragic. Great storytelling.

One Piece.
Some people might argue the series is "overhyped", but any respectful anime fan who watched the original Japanese version (so not the ****ty dub-version destroyed by 4kids) will admit that One Piece really is a classic quality series.
