You don't need to add the base power (marked blue) to get the evolved power. Just adding the evolved power will be enough.
The 'curious' powers you found are either NPC powers or powers currently unused (or unfinished). Also, some powers (all evolved loyalty powers) are not listed in the ini. I do know most of them, though. If you need a specific one, I think I can find it.


Cool, I'm pretty sure I've got all the loyalty powers. I just need to test them on sqaudies to see if they work the same as for shep.

I just tested the format again, and I can't get the lvl 4 power to add without first having the base power. I've tried it every way i could think of and every way I could find in this thread.

I'll jump back to p25 and see what you guys found there. In the meantime if you could post the way you add the evolved lvl 4 versions without the need to first add the base version, I'd appreciate it. The less code to deal with the better :)

@Inge, I understand. Nothing wrong with doing it your way and assigning points.

For myself, I tend to already know which evolved version I want and don't want to have to go through the extra steps to get it.

I'm fairly busy today but I should be able to get to your post above with stasis, flashbangs, etc. in a few hours.

how do i give multiple bonus powers to my shepard, the game will only allow me to have one at a time, like i want tech armor, cloak, incinerate, for my soldier, help please!

I have question. Is it possible to change the model oof weapons on our back to those which you're using while having them in hand (ya know, spreaded). That would look tottally awesome (you can see it here, at 5:21)

very interesting video, it seems the creator has access to some kind of editor or a deal struck with someone. It's a well done video but i believe that this is simply beyond what the modding community can create right now (anyone can step in and correct me if I'm wrong). He has access to the animations, scripting and voice overs. However the voice acting could have been added later, over top of the video after it was done.

as for the weapons...maybe someone on the forum up for a challenge and with the knowhow can help you, but it seems..distant at best again maybe I'm wrong. I'm nowhere near as tech savy as some people here:unsure:

  I agree with Deebe. Also couldn't it cause warping in certain cutscenes?:blink:

That's incorrect, Inge. The SetRank in your example shouldn't be used at all. It does nothing. Exact same results from the following:

Gives me lvl1 of that power that I then have to spend points on to evolve.

The SetRank does absolutely nothing. In the case of SetRank Miranda SFXPower_Dominate_Heavy or SetRank Miranda SFXPower_Barrier_Heavy, those powers don't exist to begin with. Are you making these up thinking that adding _Heavy does something, did you find them in Gibbed's or is there something else you can point to that might shed some light on what they are supposed to do?

Even if they did exist they are not in the character's power list so no rank can be attributed. Miranda doesn't have that power until after the GivePower command. SetRank Miranda SFXPower_Heavy does nothing either. There is no power named SFXPower_Heavy nor is there a setting SFXPower_Heavy for the SetRank command to do anything with. SetRank only works on actual named powers and in this context only on powers already assigned to a character.

Those SetRank items are merely ignored by the engine as they are all invalid commands.

If you want to actually set a rank to a power, the SetRank command MUST come after self or squad has the ability assigned to them. For instance:

This would give Miri Dominate and set it to lvl 3. You could then spend the points for the lvl 4 power in the Squad menu screen. Placing SetRank before GivePower NEVER works.

This format doesn't work, either. But, I have no idea what you're attempting with the " | " in between the commands, so if you can educate me that would be great. But as it is, the " | " is not necessary, merely separate the two into separate lines as the previous code block.

As a check I have
[color="#ffa64d"]givetalentpoints 10[/color]
command at the end of the executed text file so I can check to see if the process just stops or if commands are ignored. Every time, the points were added indicating that some previous commands were ignored by the engine. The ONLY way to get SetRank to work is if you already have the power assigned to the character or use the GivePower command prior to the SetRank.

Like I said before, Inge. You can delete All the "SetRank .... | " from your text and it will work exactly the same. I've removed them all from your Power.txt file and tested them on all characters with the exact same results: a level 1 base power that requires points be spent to evolve it to level 4.

I don't claim to know all about what's going on with giving powers and setting ranks. So, Inge, if you can tell me why you're using the SetRank commands or point me to where I can learn more, I'd appreciate the lesson.

Hopefully, I'll have the powers list separated by Shep and Squadies by the end of the weekend. Thanks for your help, so far.

Yes, see Inge's post about what you must do first with the c.ini.

Then you must bind a command, either to add the power directly via keystroke or to execute a text file containing the command like a psuedo-console that Azereum details at the begining.

You can go to Inge's project page and he has a few pre-made text files there with instructions for creating the bind to execute them.

Hope you don't mind me pointing to your stuff, Inge. Let me know if you do and I'll edit it all out.

There is no need for confusing.
You need the SetRank if you add a bonus power to player and squad. There is no more to say about that!

You can give a explanation of how it can be done, in another way. No problem with that. Well, my point based files work. And, please, let it go..

Inge, what specifically breaks when you remove SetRank .... | from your text file?

You may not think it's necessary to explain, but I'd rather skip the headache of finding out something is broken merely because you wave your hand and say "There is no more to say about that!"

I would like to build on what's been done before me, not recreate the wheel. But when I see something that's just wrong, I've either got to know why it's working or not working. Otherwise what I add to it could be completely useless and a total waste of time.

"You need the SetRank if you add a bonus power to player and squad." is incorrect based on my thorough testing, so if you can provide something that proves otherwise, then I can use that. If you can't or simply won't, then all I can do is assume you have no understand of what is happening when you run your script. I'd rather give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that there is some valid reason that I can recreate and learn from.

If you'd rather not waste your time, or there really isn't a valid reason, fine. I'll drop it. But there's evidence that I've tested that goes blatantly against your statement and the only thing you offer in lieu of why is that you're right and there's no need for further discussion.

I don't want a flame war here, so if you're unwilling to work with me to figure out what's going on, I'll not bother you at all in the future on this.

My point based work like this. Every time you run the exec command. All extra power start on level 1, and you ponit them up to level 4. I don't see why that's is a problem for you and someone else.
Instead of nagging on how I do, shouldn't you work on your own files and get they to work, and share it.

No will I compare these two ways of adding powers to player and squad:
Well, Frogs way is faster but the problem is that not alle powers work.

I will mark the powers that doesn't work with bold font. Shockwave or Fissure doesn't work for Grunt.
This is just a small bite that doesn't work. Like I say it's faster to activate the power but that's all there is.

These power you see here work fine for Samara, Kasumi and Grunt.

anyone know if you can break, full armor suits into pieces, like have the blood dragon, helmet, with the N7 armor, or the cerberus armor?

just about all of the other added powers work, using INGE's posts but tech armor seems to be permamently attached to the sentinals a little help please??

What i'm not understanding here is why some require the initial base power first, and some do not.

Every time I've GivePower the base first, and then GivePower the lvl4 version, it works.

However, if I don't do the base power first, and just the lvl4 sometimes it doesn't work at all.

For instance when I first tested the string for the Stasis you had above, it didn't work at all even with the base power given first. Then I moved stasis as the first power given with the base power added and it worked. Then it worked fine after a I moved it back to your original position (with the base power).

Here's the changes I made to that set in order to get everything to work:

It would seem from my first impression that the non-bonus powers don't need to have the base power given first, but the bonus powers do? Could it be that the file I'm testing with doesn't have any of the loyalty missions completed? Inge, does your save file for testing have the loyalty missions completed for your squad?

Well, I assigned Miri both lvl4 stasis and biotic charge (hehe)... while they were both in her power list and at lvl 4, neither power actually worked. Do you have your's set up for automatic squad power usage? I've got that turned off and Miri would attempt to cast or use both but nothing would happen :(

edit: stasis worked. doh, thought I was using it but was instead using barrier as the icons are the same in her power bar....lol. Charge, however, doesn't :(
