You are speculating heavily here... and you also imply that the dude who made this modd isn't telling the truth. read description in project page.

If it's a bug that degrades any texture assigned to Garruss' face, How was it fixed using texmod and a puny tpf file?

I'm not speculating at all. I've made an exact duplicate of that mod for my own use in order to combine it with another mod and clean up my startup process. I know exactly how it works.

It's not a bug that degrades any texture assigned to Garrus' face, it's a bug that assigns the lowest res tex to Garrus' face no matter what. Thus the fix is to replace that particular low-res texture with a higher one. If you use that TexMod, no matter what resolution you set your game to, Garrus' face will be hi-res. Very simple.

And I'm not implying anything about the dude who made the mod; what he says is exactly what he did. Take the hi-res tex from ME2 and port it into ME1. What I'm saying is that the file in ME2 came from ME1 in the first place. If you have ME1 you already have it. If you knew the right pcc to dig through and had a pcc extractor you could find it; it's just about a million times quicker and easier to lift it from ME2 due to the ease of capturing active textures through TexMod. It's like... if I got fitted for a new pair of ice skates, and then I used that size information to buy a pair of snowshoes instead of measuring my foot again. Then somebody else wanted to make me a second pair of ice skates, but my snow shoes were already lying out and my old ice skates were buried in the closet, so they grabbed the snow shoes and used them to find my foot size instead. The new ice skates are still really based on the old ice skates, not the snow shoes, because the measurements for the snow shoes were copied from the ice skates to begin with.

As you say, however, this probably isn't the place to discuss this tangent.

Have you read the part In J. Lamden's post about what happened when They tried to do Exactly what you say that this mod does? i.e use a super-high-res texture in order to make the low res change unnoticeable?
Also, have you made a file size comparison between said texture files in ME1 and ME2?

texmod logging mode works exactly the same for me in both ME2 AND ME1. Have I been missing something??

Thanks for the replies on the eye thing! Looks like I have two different options to try out. In response to TA I actually think it's fun to bring Samara and double up on the biotics. I might even bring Jack and go with an all-biotic party, except I'm not a fan of Jack. :P

One other thing. All of the docking/leaving video clips for Omega/Citadel/etc are skippable... except for the Illium departure one, for some reason. (Probably just an oversight.) What's the name of that clip to put in FullScreenMovie > SkippableMovies in the c.ini to make it skippable?

All Illium movies:
TwrAsA_101_ArrivalTower.bik
TwrAsA_HubDepature.bik
TWRHuB_Arrival.bik
TWRHub_Dept.bik
Twr_CityFlyThrough_05.bik

But they are already listed as skippable.

Not exactly. I assumed incorrectly that you have already made some of the mods mentioned by Phoenix.

I have tested this proccess, and it will result in your sclera being even brighter than your pupil:

Step 1: follow the TIM eye tutorial. it's in this thread. Do not move to next step until you have TIM's eyes.

Step 2: Go to texture params in gibbed, replace the EYE_DIFF line with: EYE_Diff = BIOG_HMF_HED_PROMorph_R.Base.HMF_HED_PROCustom_Blank_White

Step 3: In c.INI, edit all scars so that the parts i colored green will be the same in all of them:

Scars=(Threshold=(X=-10,Y=-2),Emissive="BIOG_HMM_HED_Alignment.Emissive.Face_EmisScars_05",Normal="BIOG_HMM_HED_Alignment.Scar.Face_NormScars_05",
EyeEmissive="BIOG_HMM_HED_Alignment.Eye.Eye_EmisScars_05",FemaleEmissive="BIOG_HMF_HED_Alignment.Emissive.HMF_Face_EmisScars_05",
FemaleNormal="BIOG_HMF_HED_Alignment.Scar.HMF_Face_NormScars_05",
FemaleEyeEmissive="BIOG_HMF_HED_Alignment.Eye.HMF_Eye_EmisScars_05",Color=(R=0,G=0,B=0,A=0))

It might be very intentional, use at your own risk

TWRHub_Dept.bik

config as skippable in the engine.ini OR change the name to: TWRHub_Dept.bik.old

As a personal rule of thumb, I try not to use input devices when not supposed to.

There's no need to trigger a "what's the difference?" debate, this is just my preference:
Fact: A keystroke adds another variable that would not have existed by default.
Observation: If software bugs would only occur within seemingly logical boundaries, they would not fit the definition of bugg.

Interesting....

Editing the c.INI did nothing for my version of the game. the startup movies and veetor footage were definitely unskippable. Also, there are references to files that do not exist in the Movies folder. Maybe it's a version thing...

Is it possible DLC movies are placed in the skippable ini section upon DLC install? Or maybe canceled movie files:unsure:.

Point taken about potentially causing a problem. I regularly backup my saves directory and will take the risk, though.

As it turns out, TWRHuB_Dept is not on my skippable list, so I'll just add that. I've previously added the intro cinematics and been able to skip them (and without causing any apparent problems so far) so I'm reasonably sure I'll be okay. No forgetting about making backups though, just in case.

Hi all, I need some help... Please. I have made some changes to my c.ini. Weapon Stats, Unlock special weapons, Custom stats on armor pieces. I have run into a situation on one of my save games. Once I complete a mission, Wilson appears on my loadout screen for every mission after and when I check the weapon locker. Once he shows up, I have no more research options available.

Has this happened to anyone else? I have tried going back to earlier saves, where everything is fine, but after I complete a mission, he shows up.

Any help/advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Skippable movies can be weird with different localised releases of ME2.

Despite adding all .bik files from my movies folder to the skippable list, the two red/blue sun movies and the Normandy's first encounter with the collector vessel during the introduction could not be skipped.

I had to enter the US region names for those movies into the skippable list, despite not actually having movies with those file names in my install.

Example:
SkippableMovies=ME2_Opening_SunMid_INT  <-- This is the name of the movie in my install
SkippableMovies=ME2_Opening_SunMid   <-- It wouldn't skip until I added this to the list

Illium is an interesting case on my install, the arrival video will only ever play once for the entire game (on first visit).  After that it goes straight to the loading screen whenever I visit the planet.

You would really have to supply a more precise list of the edits you've made. Unless someone with exactly the same problem as you knows what they edited...

I have had the error of the upgrade list in Mordin's lab going permanently all grey and that was because I tried to retrain my loyalty bonus power after a reinstall.  I didn't back up my player1.prf file, which contains loyalty achievements.  Without that loyalty data the GUI for picking a bonus power couldn't open and Tec_LoyaltyPower was stuck at 1.

Its supposed to revert to 0 after you close the loyalty power GUI but since It wouldn't open without any loyalty powers to choose from, the upgrade list was permanently grey until I manually set Tec_LoyaltyPower to 0.

I have never had troubles with Wilson's name showing up anywhere, I look forward to seeing whatever the hell you edited!

Browsing through the PCC files I noticed that squad member outfits are separate PCC files - that is, one "regular" and one "loyal". I tried switching them for testing and they did reverse without any problem, I guess they only contain the mesh and texture.

So, has anyone found Garrus' default PCC entry, as he first appeared on Omega, in a clean, new armor? If it's a package like the others, just mesh and texture, I'll try to replace the loyalty outfit and see if I actually get a fixed, normal blue C-Sec armor for Garrus.

You could try fixing it with Gibbed's editor, by unchecking his Recruited box (I suppose he has one, doesn't he?).
If that don't work, PM me, I'll have a look at your C.ini.

I've been a lurker for much longer actually, poking around in DA modding and stuff. This very thread here is actually the only reason I registered :o
And TAQ is right! I totally forgot that ... one scene on... that one planet... umyeah. That was pretty good.
... then again, for these kinda gametypes, I'm used to enemies counting in the hundreds. I played Serious Sam too much <_<
Outta curiosity TAQ, where are you from?

No one mentioned, no one forgotten. But this must be said.
There is no reason for a user to begin to act like a separate moderator on a forum.
If anyone in a forum does something stupid, so will they get a warning from one of the moderators. This is not another user's job.
BW has its own moderators, look at the bottom on this site.
We have obviously our own "acting captain Taylor" among us. Don't be an Taylor, that's anoying!!

I assume that this one is for me. I will try to explain:

1) I understand where this is coming from, and I swear to you, I have no wish to moderate anyone. Also, I did not mean that this thread should be "All business". "Modding" is not just a nerdy verb, it is a concept, a change of perception of boundaries. Naturally, Modders are a community, it makes perfect sense for you to want to share all kinds of things with your community. I was trying to suggest a way to balance this, with the fate of MiP I in mind. and I think i found a way, which i will soon post here as a mere suggestion.

2) There is a "don't ask don't tell" logic behind this thread. Even posting about this is unwise. all I can say is that This is not the same case like in the old ME1 threads, and the implications of forcing a moderator to post here could be very undesirble for us modding fans. And no, I am not being dramatic.

In conclusion, do not feel like you are being judged when posting here. use your discretion, and consider that of others.

Thank you,

Hey.

On the Alamo, garrus uses the same PCC for mesh resources as the mercs. a MAT_OVERRIDE for the C-sec texture package is the difference between his armor and that of turian mercs. The hole in the BioH armor is indeed part of the mesh not texture.

BTW

Why do (most?) people have this need to fix his armor?
He is one badly damaged Turian... In many ways.

I take it it's not possible to fix it by simply changing PCC files, then?

Personally, I think that having a fixed armor (with the scarred face) after his loyalty mission is a visual cue that he's moved on, whatever you did with Sidonis. He kept the hole until he got his vengeance, then he fixed it. Garrus maybe be a bit...off, but he isn't stupid and knows what is practical, for a soldier at least .

Plus, a normal armor would have looked fantastic in the suicide mission cutscenes.

1) This one takes the prize for freakiest bug yet.

2) I see here that everyone including me, had the "Wilson checkbox in gibbed" instinctive response, but it doesn't exist.

3) Make sure that:
HenchLoadoutInfo=(className=SFXPawn_Wilson,Weaponclasses=(LoadoutWeapons_HeavyPistols))

Is the LAST entry in the HenchLoadoutInfo list, and that it's exactly the same as I posted above.

4) If that did not work, delete Wilson's HenchLoadoutInfo from your c.INI as a diagnostic measure, and post the result here.

Very interesting! :lol:

If you can switch the normal maps....... then maybe.

For his face however I use this:
Garrus Scar Free

Seen another around but couldn't find it.
