ME2 - Modding is Possible II (PC Only)

Is there a step-by-step guide out there for modding the firepower pack? phoenixofthunder came close on page 45 with his response of Inge McDaneil but the post lost me when I got to "And copy the following lines to their appropriate subsection of the Coalesced.ini..."
No idea what the "appropriate subsections" are.
Could anyone give a rookie a hand here? I really, really want to mod the Mattock.

Shi*, I havn't even started on the add-ons for FO3. Mind you, I turned FO3 itself upside-down, building myself a beam cannon and a portable ion cannon (including the sounds from C&C, whee!), W40k-esque armor and the likes.Turian Antiquarian wrote...

For advice, always. I guess I'll be getting hooked on modding Call of Pripyat, though. I just hope it runs a lil' more stable than the previous two Stalker games >.
And who knows, I'll have a lot more free-time on my hands now for the next 5-6 weeks. Maybe I'll give ME2 another try at some point.
Which also means that my schdule is similar to yours.
I hate the TESCS/GECK. I spend more time modding these games than actually playing them. I havn't got a Frostmourne port for FO3, though. If I ever get my hands on one, it might be just enough reason to install all the add-ons and do another round (=year) of FO3 playing/modding.
... And I'm very afraid of New Vegas. I may be on a break from my job atm, but that's just 'cause it's school time. Being an apprentice doesn't help my freetime. New Vegas might end up being the same as FO3, and Oblivion and Morrowind; a massive time-sink. Only "salvation" from that "fate" might be if they never release a GECK for NV.
... though I'll probably send a bomb letter or two their developers' way then.

A subsection is tagged with these [ ]
Example:
[subsection]
lineproperty=value
lineproperty=value
lineproperty=value
lineproperty=value
lineproperty=value
So the appropriate subsection could be located in the C.ini, and has the same name as the line between [ ]
that's all there is to it.

How 'bout you cut-paste your post to a privet message, so we won't
come off as jerks to all these nice folks in this thread?
My RE post to all the things you mentioned would take up half of page 74. That's Derailing + crashing into a grain silo.

That was a DLC Subsection Directory. Telling where each subsection in the DLC ini's can be found.Kavadas wrote...
I'm trying to mod the Firepower Pack weapons but I'm simply lost. I read all of the posts from pages 45 and onward about modding DLC but... a lot instructionary posts make a lot of assumptions about a modder's knowledge before hand.

No idea what the "appropriate subsections" are.
Step-by-step: Not at the moment. You saw this:
Each DLC ini has sub-sections that have a corresponding section in the coalesced.ini. Transfer this data from the DLC to the Coalesced. All DLC ini data will have a "+" in front of it---this must be deleted. If the Coalesced doesn't have a section that a DLC ini has then don't add it!!!
Collector DLC Example:
In Collector DLC BIOEngine.ini:
Notice these three code sections:
[Engine.PackagesToAlwaysCook]
!Package=CLEAR
!SeekFreePackage=CLEAR
+SeekFreePackage=BIOG_HMM_ARM_COL_R
+SeekFreePackage=BIOG_HMF_ARM_COL_R
[Engine.DLCModules]
DLC_PRE_Collectors=8
[DLCInfo]
Version=0
Flags=0
Name=314332
Search in the coalesced.ini for: [Engine.DLCModules] and notice it exists.
So add its code from the corresponding section in the DLC ini to the Coalesced.ini:
DLC_PRE_Collectors=8
After searching the coalesced.ini for:
[DLCInfo]
Version=0
Flags=0
Name=314332
You will see it has no coalesced.ini section so it gets left out.
Finally
Since [Engine.PackagesToAlwaysCook] does exist in the Colesced.ini, its sections also get added:
These though do require tweaking before they will work correctly. The tweaking is that the "+" needs removing.
Upon placement in the Coalesced they should look like this:
[Engine.PackagesToAlwaysCook]
!Package=CLEAR
!SeekFreePackage=CLEAR
SeekFreePackage=BIOG_HMM_ARM_COL_R
SeekFreePackage=BIOG_HMF_ARM_COL_R
Appropriate subsections are those in the DLC INI's that have a coresponding Coalesced.ini subsection.

You missed nothing, you have been missed.
I asked him that we discuses modding of bethsoft games in PMs, since this one is about ME2 and on the bioware social network. I just know that if I'll start talking about G.E.C.K stuff, I'll end up spamming this thread with unrelated posts. So if not in PMs, I won't be able to respond to the excellent things he said.

I've edited my Coalesced to raise the level cap to 40 and the experience cap to 39000... the experience bit works (when I open the savegame with the save editor, I've clearly gained XP past 29000). By my experience, I should be level 32, but no "XP to next level" appears on my character sheet and I'm just sitting at level 30. Does it take more than putting in a new level cap? Or does it just not work?
character sheet?
What is the value listed in gibbed/RAW/Squad/Player/Level ?
Where you checked your XP.
The character screen in-game... the level listed in Gibbed is 30, and it reports 31271 XP.
Any help with this? I hate being level-capped X(

The level 1 start like this [DifficultyLevel=0, to DifficultyLevel=5] change this in all levels and see if the difficulty changes.

I think you missed this:
ZephirSunStrider wrote...
It just does not work. Sorry. Though I wonder what people want higher levels for?
Theory: It's entirely possible the experience curve was taken over from ME1, where fixed, pre-defined values determined the level transitions. In ME2, we simply assume that the game's smart enough to 1up us once we get another 1,000 XP, but maybe the devs just predefined it this way. Meaning, if they didn't define the required XP amounts for levels 31 and above, we're pretty much stuck at Lv30 as a max.
I think that zeph is on the money there, and that the following c.INI entries may fit his theory:
At some point, an interesting XP model was considered. It was to encourage the player to preform "Awesome" Kills by awarding more XP for combos of different attacks. The Grinder Achievements (Brawler, Tactician etc) may be the only remnant.

Agree, it is like two persons X and Y have Office 2007. And Y has gained its DVD broken but have a separate license. Will it then be some problem for X to install this on Y's PC and use Y's own registration code. In my eyes, this is not something illegal. This is in my eyes some of the same, does anyone here have a separate DLC as they have purchased, so won't be anything illegal to help those with a c.ini file.
Using your head is not illegal!

When someone says you can't help others because their own point og view in some case, that is scary. The problem with such people is that they are threatening to do all they can to get you blocked.

Turian, if someones want help to crack any game or softwares, they should be reported. And how can they even ask about things like that in a forum?? If this is the case, you will have my full support.Let's still help those who want help and who have legitimate games!
I do not have nor would i want any authority over modding fans who are just like me.

Our conscience is also completely different. What one will say; this is not wrong, can be completely wrong for another. Maybe is it best to ask true PM messages.

I found a stupid way to keep the ship from using fuel between sectors:
Set in
[IniVersion]
MaxFuel=1000
FuelEfficiency=1.5
to the obvious - Zero
MaxFuel=0
FuelEfficiency=0
I feel stupid for not thinking of it sooner.
