For romance is it possible in the game to be classified as one gender but appear as a different one.  I figure the only other way to romance alistair and morrigan  would be to disable the gender check which seems long and dangerous in that it could easily screw up your game.

Why not make an item:

if ( GetCreatureGender( GetHero() ) == GENDER_FEMALE )

{

SetCreatureGender( GetHero(), GENDER_MALE );

}

else

{

SetCreatureGender( GetHero(), GENDER_FEMALE );

}

Then all you are doing is forcing the Hero's Gender attribute.

The romances are determined by a romance eligibility flag listed in the approval scripts. There is an Approval_SetLoveEligible function that can change that flag - also listed in the toolset.

I've been trying to set the Alistair romance so that it's gender agnostic, but I can't find the table that lists the criteria for the romance eligibility flag.

If you find a way to do this let me know - I'm still looking.

I agree...unless you're using sarcasm. In which case I completely disagree.

A very worthy cause. ;) This is the first thing I thought of when I got the toolset, heh.

Let us know if you make any headway. I'm going to try to look into it too!

@Simon.Omega: that won't do what you expect (you'll get a female head on a male body, etc). Here's a more appropriate incantation:

Approval_SetRomanceActive(APP_FOLLOWER_MORRIGAN, TRUE);

Approval_ChangeApproval(APP_FOLLOWER_MORRIGAN, 0);

Have fun!

I think you also need to set Love eligible by using:

Approval_SetLoveEligible(APP_FOLLOWER_ALLISTAIR, TRUE);

How do you do that would you need to make an item or is it another way to edit the toolset to get that.

You don't really _need_ to create an item... here's a module that does it without: https://e7m.org/~eiz...er_bender.dazip

I am not setting the love eligible flag because I don't know when that normally gets set... it might break the event sequence or something. Then again, it might be necessary. Without the original resources in the toolset DB, who can tell?

Thank you that explains a few things after I got to test it.

Considering the game thinks my female character is a "Sir" most of the time, I'm sure it wasn't too hard to 'confuse' Allistar! :)

I had one problem with this mod though around the landsmeet area I dont know if it happens anytime before then it would cause massive slowdown , during some of the dialog choices. I had to take off the mod just to continue past that part, but otherwise it worked good

I encountered the same problem testing the mod. Mod installed, some of the dialogs crawl and then grind to a halt, making the game unplayable. Take the mod out, problem disappears. It's not every dialog scene, but it was too frequent for me to use - sadness!

Which dialog slows down is not random with each test play-through. I'll try to explain: say I play as far as three dialog scenes, A, B and C.

A is fine.

B is fine.

C crawls.

No matter how many times I reload, A and B will be fine, C will be the problematic one.

I admit I did try to take a look at the mod, but I know absolutely nothing about scripting or programing. Why it's some dialogs and not others - I don't know. If there's something in the scripting that checks at each dialog event, I don't know why it's causing problems in origin scenes in dialogs, before Alistair or Morrigan are in the game, and where no reference to gender is made.

Posting to thank Eizneckam for the mod, bump this, and see if anyone with actual knowledge (ie NOT ME) is willing to take a look at it.

be careful with the gender bender. I started a new character to test it out and when you meet alistar for the first time it won't start the cutscene and you can't just disable the addon. Who knows how else it might break the game.

I'd still love a work around for the romance aspect if anyone knows of one.
