am i to understand you bought a 25 dollar item for a game you are playing on a trial membership?

Yes. Yes I did. I do it for lots of things. I no longer post on Gaia Online but I buy their donation items every month. I buy junk from Neopets from time to time. I brought the additional areas for Wizard 101 and I play it here and there. That's how I roll.

I also brought that little gyphon stuffed animal from their store. It's so cute.

thats cool. my post wasn't to be judgmental as much as I was just curious of the obvious contradiction between "I can't stand WOW" and buying an item for WOW. Anyway, thanks for the answer.

I didn't! Damn it! Stop ninja editing. :P

@scyphozoa - Hey now. I didn't think you were being judgmental. I really do have a weakness for the cute and sparkles. Under normal circumstances I'm sure I would have never brought something like that. The stars caught me though. It's one of the better animated items I've seen in WoW really. The stars come off as you ride like a comet. Personally, I can't image spending mass amounts in ANY games cash shop. However, If I do see something I tend to buy it with no hesitations. I don't have people depending on me for support. I can be a little stupid here and there with $20-$50 bucks when I do so much for others during the year.

Blizzard aren't doing anything new with the service, as there are a bunch of other MMOs that do sell items in-game (DDO sells races, doesn't it?).

Yes, they sell drow. I think that's the only one. That only applies if you play DDO for free. Then you need to pay for access to some of the maps, newer classes, and drow individually. If you take their VIP option and pay a monthly subscription, you gain access to all that automatically.

Fair enough, Ms Gloom. In the EU/UK, DDO isn't F2P so I'm not sure how it works :)

Ah right. I forget they kept the old model in Europe. :pinched: Anyway, I researched it when they went F2P and decided not to bother. It's more cost effective to pay for a subscription in most cases than take Turbine's supposedly generous offer. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. F2P is rarely as good as it sounds.

Runes of Magic and Free Realms are the only F2P MMOs I'd touch with a bargepole, really. Free Realms was more of a collection of minigames anyway, but I did enjoy it. Damn, now I miss it :(

It was very cute. It just had this Everquest 2 feel to it though.

I am worried Blizzard will do this exact thing in Diablo3. I will have to buy this stuff. Every bone in my body says "don't do it!" but Diablo is one of the franchises I love most. I played it endlessly as a child, both 1 and 2 and expacs. I will resent Blizzard while I punch in every number to my credit card - I don't think I can afford to love video games in the future :(

I see it happening too sadly. I want Diablo 3 so bad but they are going to milk us with it like no tomorrow.

I must admit. As much as I can't stand WoW, they gave me a week of free time I'm currently using. Yes. I brought the damn Sparkle Horse. I love the damn thing. I love the goddamn horse!

Am I to understand you're budding into someone else's business when it really doesn't affect you in the slightest?

Because, you know, that makes you a douchebag. Just so we're clear.

I hope Activision does implement this for all of Blizzards games.  It's a beautiful thing to see the weak-willed exploited.

I like how, on the internet, anything you don't agree with is automatically wrong, bad, or unethical, and that anyone who buys a product you don't like is automatically an unintelligent sheep or is being taken advantage of.

Trust me it is not only just on the internet.
