I think the cooldown is unnecesary though and just drags things out.
As it is (certainly until you can steal in combat) just a time sink, I wouldn't call it cheating.
Expecially SInce its being Sugested by a Moderaitor

I hope you're not playing the PC version, because with that attitude, the PC version is wasted upon you.fro7k wrote...
I don't like mods. I can only play the game as it was made. Anything else may as well be cheating.
The greatest thing about PC games is that you can mod your games. They're YOUR games. It's why you pay 10x the money upgrading a PC as opposed to buying the best console.

Play the game naturally all ya want. After that, you've 'experienced' the natural game, then ya should seriously consider playing with the Toolset! (This's what i'm gonna do.)

I played the game without patching it first, and I got items or money from just about every NPC. A few did give the nothing to steal on the first time I tried, mostly children. I than ran the patch 1,03 and instaled the Stone prissoner. Now I get only a few coins on every tenth steal and scripted items such as the Imperium crossbow in Lothering. This is either a bug or a lousy fix from a patch.
I too noticed that.
Few months ago I played Dragon Age and stole from everybody who came across. Now, after patching to 1.03 and when the message "Stealing success" appeared, I received either money or an item.
Now when this success message comes I get nothing most of the time. Checked it in my inventory and money amount.
I don't like this "fix" or "patch".

I starting complaining and researching this a few days ago myself as I've owned Origins since November but just started having this problem after patching to 1.03 and starting a new game.
My solution was to uninstall, re-install, and then download patch 1.02a from a satellite site until BioWare fixes this.
They are very aware of it as it has been brought up since the release of patch 1.03 a month ago. See the technical forums.
I would think a month would be enough time to fix the pickpocket bug . . . but it hasn't happened yet.

Patch 1.03 is bugged. One of the bugs is that the pick pocket doesn't work anymore.

It does not work in the specific case that it is trying to reward you a random item and you already have coin. It will still reward you with coin, it will still reward you with plot or fixed items.
On the PC, it can be fixed with third-party solutions. On the consoles, it can be ignored, as it is not vital for completion of the game, and even where it can be useful for some plots the bug does not impact plot-related utility.

For me anyway, Money was a pain to get in the early game, but in the late game, I had more then I knew what to do with really. At that time though, You could rather easily get high end gear, and dont need to use it right away.
It is even easier to get coin after your first playthrough, when you have unlocks.

OK - before I thought your attention to detail was a blessing - but it's an annoyance.
Technicalities, technicalities, technicalities. Bottom line is that pickpocketing is bugged. Who gives a rooty toot if it works when the moon is full and Andraste's ****** are lined up just so. Most of the time it fails where as before it didn't.
Bugged is bugged. It doesn't work the way it's supposed to. So my statement was not "false".
