Just curious if I had a bad start to get used to this game or not haha. Been awhile since I had played this type of game, pc btw. I think im at like 8 and I'm only on normal.

my first actual complete runthrough was on my mage. hit lvl 22, hard, PC with mods, no injuries. I was trying for the "I'm kind of a Big Deal" achievement, and I got it. makes you think a bit more IMO.

granted, some of the mods may have made things a touch easy, and I had spent basically since release a) learning the game and B) finding faces I liked, >:(  , but that was my first run.

By the end of the game, I had 51 with a mage on Normal. The first playthrough is always the hardset because you're still getting used to the system. There were some fights that took me six or seven tries to beat back then, that I can beat now on nightmare without breaking a sweat. You'll get used to it soon enough; don't worry.

Don't be worry - my first playthrough on normal with a Mage ended with 22 !! I never played such a game before - so all was pretty new for me.

At least Alistair had something to care for with her *rofl*

My first that was a rogue, on normal (with a couple of fights I had to take to easy, *cough* goddamn broken alleys), I ended up level 19 with 27 injuries... Did as many sidequests as I could without outside help (guide, wiki, this forum...) so I missed or turned down quite a few, and I skipped the optional boss fights too. I was playing with the dex hotfix at the time which made archers (friend or foe) a bit more powerful, but when I look at it now I had terrible stats (spread across strength, dex, wil, cun and con...) and gear on the character.

Anyway, I redid a playthrough with the same character and party setup but with the experience of 4 playthroughs behind and got "kind of a big deal" this time.

1 injury 1st time thrgouh (normal) think it was at the spot in the woods that tends to leave you dead without any chance of you doing anything about it... at least none I found :D

Your profile says 7 for the mage and 9 for the city elf rogue :P
May want to clean up those screenshots, too.

Too many to remember as warrior on my first playthrough till I learnt the secret of making potions rather than relying on the game to drop them. I was playing on easy and I thought the game was too hard because I had no potions. I remember always using Wynne to resurrect me & cursing about all the friendly damage Morrigan was doing. The good old days.

I had a few but I never knew I had to use an injury kit. *facepalm* If I'd known that, things would've been a lot easier.

I think it's normal to take quite a few injuries at the start on your first go , i found the game gets alot easier as you get more powerful and more importantly used to the combat system. There's still the odd bit that kicks your butt as its easy to get complacent.

It's weird that some bits on my first go i was shouting " this is impossible , how the .... can this be done" , is then trivial on your next go as you've learnt how to deal with the enemy.

First run as a mage on Normal: 38. Second run as a Rogue on Hard: 10. Subsequent characters on Hard and Nightmare: 0 - but I've not completed a third full run yet.

On a side note: I don't like that 'forced' injury that Fredericol mentioned.

Hmm glad to know I'm average if not a little above in some cases for my first playthrough. Plan on playing as an Arcane Warrior or some regular Warrior type for my second playthrough on hard.

What system? Console users are generally going to suffer a LOT more injuries than PC players.

My first injury was in the harrowing (playing a mage)...i just couldn't fire fast enough...lol...but not knocked out...i did survive but took me a while to get used to the staff.

Now i can kill just about everything quickly...experience is a great boost :)

First playthough... that was as a mage, "Berenor" by name, He was an area-effect elementalist mage, with a casual disregard for which party members he hit with his fireballs n' such. He also picked up the Arcane Warrior specialization fairly early on and quickly donned the heaviest, gaudiest armor he could find. Every hostile in the game found that character particularly appealing when it came to looking for things to hit.

Result: 43 injuries.

Then I learned how the game works, and that number dropped off dramatically. Had I not, I suspect I'd have accumulated a hundred or more injuries on that guy before the game was done.

Oh, and there is a way to avoid the auto-injury scenario in the forest. Is counter-intuitive, like many things in the game, but I found that spot particularly offensive so I cheated and looked at a walkthrough. Heh.

Ditto...

Can't recall how many times I hit the deck on my first runthrough, but it was plenty, and on easy...

I've had plenty, I'm sure. Even if you have Wynne or a healing mage in your group, you may still need to tell people to use healing potions or control your spirit healer and have them use group heal. It probably also wouldn't be a bad idea to try a warrior for your first character if you are piling up injuries. High health/defense helps.
