You cant blaim her for how she reacted after all the crap she seen Cerberus do in ME1 and just after seeing Shepard two years after Shepard's death. She is shocked, happy and angry at the same time she dosent know what to do. And speak to Anderson after Horizon ask him about Ash and then select i thought we were friends, he tells you Ash was giving evidence to support you to the council, she was actually helping you, she aint gonna go awol though and ruin her family name in the Alliance for life, but she can help you from where she is and thats what she is doing.
And i must add this, my uncle was murdered by the IRA a terrorist orginisation like Cerberus (obveously without the same funding) If i found out one of my friends was working with them, i would never forgive them i would probably beat them to a pulp. If i was Ash, there would have been no letter. Ash had nothing to apologise for when Shepard was being a di** and making out that Cerberus are good like he's there dam spokesman, and at the end what do you know Ash was right.
I agree with Funkcase. People don't realize what type of hell Ashley went through when Shepherd died. Think about what she says and does when she first sees Shepherd on Horizon. She calls him a god and gives him a hug. She clearly doesn't hate Shepherd, she's just angry at him. Ashley has a notoriously bad temper and she showed it on Horizon. Even after she said what she said, she still tells Shepherd to be careful. She even goes so far as to tell Shepherd where she is going. Now ask yourself, does that sound like a woman that hates him? Remember what she said during the conversation she said, "I...I almost....." Now the question is, what did she almost do? Quite the Alliance? Kill herself? Of all the things she said, this statement bugs me the most. I'm hoping that in ME3, we can find out what she "almost" did. I romanced Ashley in ME1 and I stayed loyal to her in ME2. I'm looking forward to seeing her in ME3. Ashley is my choice and I'm sticking with her. The only woman that could draw me from her is Samara and luckily, she isn't a LI option.

Maybe if she was able to think clearly she would have been able to understand why Shepard was doing this but given that she had barely survived a Collector attack AND had the love of her life return after two years one can be forgiven for responding in surprise and disbelief. She does not as so many people say 'yell at you for being dead' and it makes sense that she would be upset by this.
Besides as others have said, she sends an email apologising for what she says. True I wish she had been able to say a little more or that I was at least given more than just an Email but still I chose to stay the course anyway. I wasn't going to bail on a whole subplot just because she doesn't worship the ground I walk on.
Ashley is my favourite female character in Mass Effect and the Horizon scene didn't change that for me. I can see why people might get annoyed but in my opinion, there was no reason to be. I don't count 'failure to bow down to me in reverance' as a justified reason to call someone a god. I consider what happened on Horizon good and proper characterisation.

What are you talking about? My Shepard never worked for Cerberus. He just took their gifts and said "Kindly go f**k yourself." He said it at the end, at least.xxSgt_Reed_24xx wrote...

I pretty much agree with what you've said....
but I will add... if shepard hadn't worked with Cerberus after they... brought him back to life, then the collectors/reapers wouldn't have been stopped.

For the record, I appreciate Ash's role in ME1-2, even if I'm not a huge fan of her personally (too many places we'd clash).
But really, she does sort of work her anti-alien bias. Talk to her in Peak 15 some time.
"All this for one damned asari."
Ummm...Ash? Liara's right here, and that's her mother you're talking about.

I see a lot of flak for Shepard's greeting when Horizon comes up, but really...you've been dead for two years. Actually dead, rebuilt by Cerberus, and you show up in the middle of a Collector attack to save her...situation again. You were at the least squadmates in the biggest battle humanity's been a part of, probably friends and maybe lovers. What the hell are you supposed to say? "I missed you"? That's a lie. You've been dead. Don't lie to Ash.
Yeah but to be fair she has been spending two years grieving after you died, one way or another, and has just gotten around to moving on in her life. Given the circumstances one would expect Shepard to be able to say something a little bit more emotional than just:
"It's good to see you Williams, how have you been?"
Considering my Shepard romanced her I had expected something a little bit more powerful and emotional that that. He would have to have known (especially from the look of emotional anguish on her face as she walked towards him) that it hasn't been an easy transition for her the last two years.

Oddly enough though after the mission Ashley will suggest to Shepard to go and talk to Liara because she's just lot her mum and 'that's gotta hurt'.
Also as I've said before if the player pursues the right dialouge with her then she can change her view somewhat on aliens.
By the way, hope I didn't come across as rude in this post. Merely expressing my view on this matter.

A lot of Shepards didn't, though. Many were just squadmates or friends. Since they're trying to write the scene (I presume) for maximum impact on as many playthroughs as possible without having to record extra lines for a given playthrough, they needed something to set up the "Cerberus?!" confrontation, so they went with what I feel is a "There is nothing in language to cover this meeting's many emotions. Ummm...hi". I can see where some players would feel like they got the short end there, but I see why they went with it and can appreciate the line as "Shepard is kind of overwhelmed". I've offered such a non-greeting in powerful circumstances myself, though admittedly I never died.V-rex wrote...

Well sure, pro-human bias (probably fairer than anti-alien) or not she 'gets' family. And I do give her credit for that. I haven't really seen talking her into changing her tune, but maybe that's because I'm almost exclusively a FemShep player and we all know no-one in the Mass Effect universe opens up to people they don't intend to sleep with.Oddly enough though after the mission Ashley will suggest to Shepard to go and talk to Liara because she's just lot her mum and 'that's gotta hurt'.

Not in the slightest. This feels like a frank but civil exchange of ideas and opinions.By the way, hope I didn't come across as rude in this post. Merely expressing my view on this matter.
