That is awesome. Thanks for making my day man.

Seroiusly though FFXIII is like a collection of everything that's gone wrong with the FF series since 7.

You should feel bad for me. This was my first FF game besides Tactics. Nasty surprise :P

That would be quite the rude awakening.

Ouch :pinched:
At least I had the advantage going in expecting it to be mediocre, instead of terrible. One of these days I really need to learn that "Well I'm just going to buy it anyways" isn't a good excuse to pick up a game.<_<

considering how honest the advertising is, i'm surprised you have bids at all.

Apparently honesty is worth at least $7.

@crysischaos I played the FF3 remake on DS and (mostly) loved it. Forgot about that.

Hey, thought I'd give a quick update. We're at $11.16 with 2 days left. I'll post here again when the auction ends so we can either:

A. Express our anger and frustration at the buyer if they bought it at a high price

B. Express our amusement at the low selling price

Also, got a message on eBay...

dude - f'ing spot on description of this horrible game. They should rename it "not even close to Final Fantasy" 13. I LOVE how cheap you're seling it for! I'm trying to get at least 30 for it, because I wasted 80 f'ing bucks on this piece of garbage.

I hate ff13. I got 15 hours into and could not deal with it anymore. I got it the day it came out and man I hate myself for it now. I would sell it but I might as well keep it since I have all the ones on playstation and up.
I used to really like all the ff games. I was replaying them and beat 6,7,8,9 again and decided to take a break. I was like hmm this dragon age looks like it will be fun so I got it. It was my first game from Bioware, and I was like WOW this is much better then the Final Fantasy games.

Little off topic, but looking at the scores for the steaming pile that is FF13 on metacritic really shows you most professional reviews are simply paid advertising. One of the professional reviewers actually wrote "[it] is probably the RPG of the year and therefore a must have for any RPG-lover." Hah!

Final Fantasy XIII is so bad it's even worse than Final Fantasy X.

I remember Halloween 2002 this kid came to my apartment and I offered him a choice of either a tootsie roll or Final Fantasy X. He took the tootsie roll and left.

That is how bad Final Fantasy X is.

I remember the internet fan reception from Final Fantasy games all the way back to VII(Internet wasn't widespread before then) and there was never anywhere near as much negative fan feedback as there is now for Final Fantasy XIII.

Final Fantasy XIII may have some good corporate paid reviews including their mandatory perfect 40 from Famitsu that that magazines gives out about twice a month these days but the overwhelmingly negative fan feedback speaks louder than a few obviously biased, paid for reviews.

Final Fantasy XIII is a failure.  Fans will not easily forgive Square-Enix for making this pretentious, linear, trite piece of JRPG trash.

That's not traditional JRPG style. That's Square trying to reach a larger audience so they can rake in as much profit as possible.

I may not have played many FF games, but I've played my fair share of JRPGs in the '90s and very early '00s. Those games were fun.

Really what they did was dumb everything down, and throw a bunch of flashy colors and lights to hide the lack of depth, hoping that this 'large audience' would be too dazzled by all the flash to notice it sucks.

This goes for everything about the game including the story - throwing around its bizare mythology to hide the fact that they couldn't come up with anything original.

I don't understand why Japanese companies have such a hard time connecting with Western gamers anymore. They want to expand the Western market.. and they thought ultra-simplistic gameplay would do that? And that they could cover that up with a flashy presentation? I'm insulted that they think we're so blind.

How they ignored the success of open-ended games in a Western market is beyond me. "Westerners love open-ended games so we should.. make our game a straight line!" Grrreeeat idea :o

You know what the most depressing part of ffx is? If they had just had a different main character.. it could've been 10 times better.

Tidus was physically painful for me to listen to, and his character was idiotic. Also, dressed even more idiotic. I mean, not that final fantasy characters are really known for their dress sense or anything but.. damn man.

I try not to think about X, it depresses me when a potentially great game is ruined by one thing.

Part of the reason JRPG's are hard for me to like since they've gone 3d, is the voice acting and the overexaggeration of the characters they use.  You have the traditional emo kid, the prototypical hot girl, the hot angry girl, the hot shy girl, the mysterious guy, the misunderstood hot girl, the hot head, the wise guy, the one character that is not white or asian looking, the hidden royalty character, etc.  And then each newer game seems to repeat these characters.

Where as in a lot more western RPG's, the characters aren't as exaggerated.  Sure you still get some stereotypical characters, but not as much as in the JRPG's it seems.

The problem is Japanese melodrama translates to annoying and two-dimensional for Westerners. That's a cultural difference. The English language is capable of capturing a depth of character and personality few other languages can hold a candle to so localization is always a train wreck.

I'm not being ethnocentric either. If you were to study the vastness of vocabularies and the different ways of expressing oneself throughout languages, Japanese is ranked pretty low as a result of their culture. This isn't a bad thing, per se, but it becomes a bad thing in the context of localizing video games with so much voice acting.
