I gave my Rogue, Leliana, a Bow & Arrow but anytime I switch her weapons to it she gets her butt kicked.. seems like she's always getting swarmed..  am I just having bad luck?  Anyone actually use them?  I could maybe see using them with my main character if he wasn't a mage only because I would just back away from everyone and start firing but my rogue just stands there.

I played on nightmare with leliana using a bow. You need to learn how to use a tank, use threaten and taunt to increase your aggro and make sure he wears the heavy(or even better, massive) armor, this will attract enemies to him. Always move with your tank on the front so it is the first character the enemies see.

Just rolled me an elf archer. Thinking of going and making a new dwarf, though. I just love me some more melee. You know, It's funny because I keep switching to Allistar in battle and let my main wander around doing whatever an archer does while I hack and gore the baddies.

I played a Dalish archer, I found that they start off pretty slow but they get a lot better later on and work quite well if you specialize them in ranger to be able to summon a bear to back you up

hmm i have Leliana useing a Crossbow i picked up somewere... that thing is just nasty. If you want to keep her from being mobbed, make sure you set her 'tactic' to 'ranged'... that makes her stay back and shoot and keeps her from running up into the fighting. Even if you have her set up with the tactice slots to use ranged abilities, if you dont change the Behavior from Default to 'Ranged', She'll run right up next to your main persone at the start of each fight rather than stop were she's at the instant she see's a enimy. Then as others said.. have a mele character set to use taunts or even better, shield slams whenever she's attacked.

Just like Aria, I've equipped Leliana with a bow. That's the only person, though.
