Maybe the action figures I had when I was a kid were pretty sh***y, 'cause these are hell of a lot better than those. I agree that Shepard looks a little funky, but only in the face. And as someone said, maybe that's to do with image rights. I bet Miranda doesn't look much like Yvonne either when she comes out. Thane looks badass, Grunt looks a little off - but exactly how I would expect an action figure of him to look - besides, claymore FTW. Tali looks fine, if a little vivid in the colours. Proportions look decent, I just don't think a purple background helps.
Wouldn't mind getting one of these to decorate my desk at uni, though if I'm honest I'd probably only get Garrus. Maybe Legion or Miranda at a push.
I would be all over a Joker or Zaeed figure like a tramp on chips, should that happen.

I suspect Tali's thunderthighs are due to an unflattering photo angle. I don't care much for her omni-tool though. It should be a more see-through plastic IMO.
No, her legs are pretty thick.

Her omni-tool was translucent and looked even a bit sparkly in the promo group shot... the one at the con though wasn't anything like that. Hoping the one I took photos of was just a prototype version before they cast the final versions. Fingers crossed!

Wow, you nerds are hard to please. They look alright to me.
I guess you are used to cheap plastic action figures then.
I collect the stuff and they are certainly not up to their size, that type of quality is what you see in trading figures (small, cheap mass production figures) and not on the upper scale.
Kotobukiya did some Master Chief some time ago, those are good ... this? a cheap plastic toy.
(Not even going to other manafuactors, like GoodSmile Company and Alter).

According to Amazon where they're available for preorder, they're about $24/each. I don't collect such things but I'm guessing that isn't the price range for something that's "upper scale" collector quality. Certainly a lot of the WoW figures Amazon has are much more than that.
Well its not, a 11 inch figure with aceptable quality goes for 2-3 times that.
Of course a 11 inch figuerine looking like that is ... well crap, smaller (like the Figma line) can strike a balance of quality / price as its small enough to mask inperfections but at the same time allow better mold and painjob.

Ummm... these aren't the "action figures" you had as a kid. These are statuettes/figurines that are (supposed to be) made to a much higher standard of quality. They're not meant to be taken out and played with by an 8 year old like some Ninja Turtles toy circa 1991. They're meant to be displayed and nothing more. Hence the bases they're afixed to.
I've purchased a lot of statuettes at conventions over the years and those (at least Shepard and Tali anyway) are some of the worst and cheapest I've ever seen. Thane and Grunt look decent, but Shepard and Tali are just godawful. And it looks like someone painted them with glitter for some reason. I hope they're not charging more than $10 individually or they're never going to sell.
EDIT: $24? I've seen Kotobukiya, GoodSmile and SquareEnix figurines of similar size and price that were much better quality. Who did BioWare/EA go to for these?

Went to C2E2 this past weekend, and among all the great action figure displays I stumbled across ones for the series 1 figure sets of Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins.
Below you'll find the ME2 pics... the others are posted in the DA:O general discussion forum HERE, if you're interested.

Yeah, but these aren't some old 6" Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Batman: The Animated Series Action Figures for kids to play with, these are ment to be collectables, and therefore should be made to a much higher standard of quality and detail.
An 8 year old boy isn't going to care that his Harry Potter Action Figure looks more like Jason Biggs than Daniel Radcliff, or that his Ron Weasley looks more like a child Danny Bonaduce than Rupert Grint. But those children's toys only cost $6-$10 tops, and kids don't really care about quality or attention to detail that much that they'll refuse to buy it.
However, a $24 Commander Shepard that's made of cheap plastic, is poorly painted, and looks more like Sander Cohen from Bioshock than Shepard that's target consumer is a 15+ year old...yeah.

We'd better be getting a hell of a lot better for $24. I'm somewhat of an anime fan (very picky), and those figures are around the same price. But if you want a really nice one, it will cost you--upwards of $50 and more.
Indeed these are better than your average $5 figures that you had as a kid, but that's not much comfort to the age group these are aiming for.

Shame someone like NECA didn't get to do these. Would have been all over a set (or multiple sets) with the quality of the BioShock figures.

looks terrible imo. not really detailed...would be good as a childrens toy though.
Grunt's head looks like a sad turd being pinched out of a steel anus.
