No offense to anyone who's a big fan of Miranda---cause I like her character as well---but she really can be a butter face in some of these pics. It would be great for all the squadmates to wear armor when in battle but without that ridiculous skin tight outfit which Miranda wears, she doesn't look as stunning.

Jacob's outfits look a bit like ultralight armor to me. Maybe they could make a female version and give it to Miranda, complete with a clear visored helmet, for her next alternate appearance.

This.  I always thought that Jacob's uniform was made out of ballistic cloth or some sort of flexible carbon fiber weave.

Miranda's uniform can't be all that protective given that she has a visible and bleeding shoulder wound when she shoots Wilson, but I imagine that she doesn't worry about it given her genetic modification.

Her muscle / bone density and improve healing provided through her genetic modification compensates her somewhat should she get hit and of course her biotics and enhanced reflexes provide her with the ability to kill enemies before they get the drop on her.

Best defense against intiial volleys of gunfire is to be the one that shoots first.

Even so, it does look sorta silly that Jacob and Miranda don't wear armor and I always wonder what in the hell part of Jack's pre-loyalty outfit does her shotgun clip on to.

The issue of Miranda (and others, like Jack) wearing less than protective wear to a firefight is just as silly to me as being able to transfer the same suit of armor from Ashley to Kaidan, or MaleShep to Liara.  Like all armor automatically fits everyone or something. <_<

THAT, at least, is a very old RPG trope necessary for the sanity of the players (at least if you want armor as loot, which is ALSO an old trope), while the stripperific non-armor is just idiotic and annoying.

True, but there ARE games where certain armor only fits certain races (ME1 and Arcanum come to mind) but I can't think of any where male and female armor is separate.  It would probably just give feminists another non-reason to be upset at men.  Why can't we wear the same armor?  We demand to be treated the same!

Man, did a feminist run over your dog or something? You sound mad.

Final Fantasy games have a tradition of a few items like Minerva Bustier and accessories like Pearl Ring only being equippable by female characters. Persona 3 has some female-specific equipment, and Persona 4 takes it further with no unisex armor at all. It's actually really annoying--I end up with a bunch of Bustier or Corset items with awesome stats and the male party members can't wear them. Man up and put on the goddamn ribbon, it'll stop you from dying so often!

So...no-one likes my "put DLC armour on squadmates" idea?

I do agree though about Jacobs armour, I'm sure Cerberus could devise an armour specially made for one of the most powerful people in the organisation.

Being the only son of a feminist does that to you, as you're constantly told about how YOUR gender is responsible for all this oppression and violence.  It tends to cause backlash, unsurprisingly.

But yeah, if there was a way for Miranda to wear some actual armor, I would argue for light armor.  Not only does that make more sense (training etc.), but it also still lets her show off the body she's so proud of.  It seems like an integral part of what makes Miranda Miranda, the whole "look at my body!" thing.

Why do people keep bringing up the mask thing? Isn't it obvious that those areas were intended to have SOME atmosphere? You weren't in a complete vaccuum.

The Geth's space station is supposed to not have any atmosphere. Legion himself says so at the start.

Plus at least one of the N7 missions is on a planet with an atmosphere that even causes Grunt skin irritation.

So, Miranda, Jack, just how much medi-gel does the Normandy have on board, and why are we using it to put your skin back on?

Wearing non-armor into a fight doesn't bug me. You can easily just explain that with kinetic barriers or somesuch.

What bugs me is wearing a non-hardsuit into a vaccum. Seriously? Walking in a vaccum and all they have are breathing masks? The only three that have a proper full suit seem to be Shepard, Tali, and Garrus. Even Grunt isn't fully covered: his upper arms are bare still. Granted, he's a Krogan, but still...

I *love* that idea. I also think it would be awesome to be able to customize everyone's armor, as in Mass Effect 1, but with improved designs. Maybe having to pre-render some things makes it difficult? It'd be even better if you could earn squad armor through some sort of mini-missions. Anything to get some more of that awesome combat in! I want more combat! MORE MORE MORE!

I always thought Jacob's uniform looked like ultralight armor, something that someone who didn't expect to have to fight would wear if when he did have to fight he'd have mechs distracting enemies long enough for him to get into some real armor.  You know, something a security officer at a top secret station with security mechs might wear.  Why he wears that when he's dropping into a known combat zone I have no idea.

You can't scream "kinetic barriers" because when the suckers go down then you'd have nothing.  It's like taking a day's worth of food for a two-day journey, saying you don't need the second day's worth of food because you'll be well-fed on the first day.

Well in regards to kinetic barriers - for Jack in particular, where exactly would the generators be?

I support Armor "outfits" for squadmembers. Characters like Miranda, Samara, Thane, Kasumi, Mordin and even Jacob need armor. I would much rather see these characters wearing armor than clothing.

edit - I don't understand the OP, but I stand by my suggestion above.

Thane has armor now. He has armor jacket and it;s cool.

Look closely at Solus's outfit...  Where have you seen that shoulder/upper torso piece before?

STG operatives in the field.  Solus probably has the full suit under his labcoat.

So Solus gets off the hook, at least in regards to non-hostile environments.
