When I read the title I thought GiantBomb was doing a playthrough. Shucks.
Well, you could try watching them, you might be entertained, even though I'm not Jeff or Vinny or Brad or Ryan.
Incidentally the latest episode is up, after two days of fraking Comcast upload interrupts. Thank you Comcast!
#8: Dossier: The Convict
HD will be available as soon as YouTube finishes processing. Sorry about the audio interference in #7 and this one... I eliminated it in #9 (coming soon), hopefully for good.

Thankfully Comcast cooperated last night, so I was able to get this up. Look for #10 some time this weekend, unless Freddy Kruger gets me.

Why do you call it an edurance run???
I should do one of these youtube vids for a speed run. I'm guessing I can beat insanity in under 5 hours.
I'll believe that when I see it.

Avoiding most loyalty quests ... missions between horizon and collector ship chosen for being short. i.e. no combat N7s, jack's loyalty, firewalker, etc.
Immediately after collector ship, 2 more really short missions, then hit the omega 4 relay.
I'd say 5 hours is possible .. not interested in trying myself, 'cos I'm too hooked on being a tactician to approve of taking too many risks. I'll just stick to 0 death insanity runs.

Hmm .. let me see ... skipping every cutscene and dialogue possible, avoiding unnecessary hacking or bypassing.

You've done this!?

I have done 1 playthrough wherein I skipped all loyalty quests, though. So I know having unloyal squadmates and fewer upgrades aren't a big deal.

Under 5 hours with no deaths would be pretty impressive.
It would also rely on a rather high amount of luck in that your character does not glitch and get stuck on a wall or in the sky or something, which happens all too often.
Nice commentary on the vids that I watched by the way OP.

o.O .. I wasn't aware speedruns include not dying ... just that the time taken to reload counts towards the total.

Mario 3 is understandable, there's no long dramatic cut scenes or monologues, no characters to talk to. You're jumping and breaking bricks while grabbing power ups as fast as you can. Hell you can skip to the end as fast as you can.
But a Speed Run of ME 2 where there ARE cutscenes, dialogue, all that have to be skipped and some that are damn near unskippable. Speed run of the intro with the Normandy being destroyed?
Just plain stupid. Ooh I can beat it in 7 hours, what's the point? The game forces you to take a certain amount of time either way.

That sounds about right. I'll rename the thread here. I try to keep the videos under 30 minutes, but I've failed to do that a couple times. I'm just glad people find them entertaining enough to keep watching.Doctor_Jackstraw wrote...
i'd say it's more of a letsplay. an endurance run is something that entails that it is exhausting to play, either because of the gameplay or the length and questionable worth of playing the game. Another factor is that the giant bomb guys only play about an hour a day, which really makes it feel like a gauntlet when you're watching them one at a time.
Cool... they really do look pretty in 1080p. They look even better on my system before YouTube munches them, but what are you gonna do. They're also about one gigabyte per 10 minutes before I upload 'em.jkthunder wrote...

I lost nobody on the suicide mission, or maybe I lost Jack. Can't remember. Guess I'm just "special".
For someone who claims to have either lost someone or not and can't remember which, I'm not sure 'special' is the best word. Depending on your interpretation, of course.

I decided to do this one in one go, despite the fact that it's longish. The next two missions (Samara and Thane) will be two parters.
Enjoy!
