Ive only played male Shep and Ive never noticed problems with the animations. Except for the fact that he either A) walks really slow or B) runs. I cant seem to make him walk at a decent pace.

He either walks at a snails pace or he runs. I dont remember it being like that in ME 1 at all.

If the femshep has problems that the male version doesnt, that really sucks. Ive said it once and I'll say it again, I'll just add it to the list of short cuts regarding ME 2. The more I play ME 2 the more I see its a severely dubbed down sequel to the first game. Almost as though EA and Bioware knew it would sell if they rushed it a bit, regardless of content and quality. And whats more, that people would like it either way.

With the first game they were working hard on establishing a major IP. With 2, they churned it out a little quicker, with less options and content because they could.

Well they want people to play the "pre-defined" posterboy shep, no surprise they didn't really try with femshep

They do not sit in the same way men do. In ME2, the flaw is in using the same animations for both genders. But I'm talking all media when such shortcuts aren't the factor. Then it's like the animator just isn't very observant.

It's a small detail to care about, but small details can go a long way for immersion.

Personal thing here, I know a numbre of men, including myself, that sit in a 'feminine' manner, as well as women that sit in a 'masculine' matter.

Maybe what they need is to have two sets of WORKING animation sets.

Feminine Fshep, Masculine Fshep, Feminine Mshep, and Masculine Mshep.

But I really do think they rushed the game, and I don't doubt that EA had something to do with it. Investors want profit, not quality. As long as people are willing to put up with degrading quality of sequels, sequels will become worse with each incarnation. The only games that they would try to put effort into would be the first games, since people who are hooked on the original games will be most likely to buy sequels regardless of their quality..

I wasn't really bothered by femShep's "butch" behavior. Besides the way she sits when she talks to Garrus and Miranda, all her animations seemed okay. I did notice the running animation, because she kind of looked like a boxer about to punch someone in the face.

I don't think they finished MaleShep's animations and just pasted them over though. Mostly because the whole crossed arm stance looks very girly to me. I think they had one set for both of them and tried to accomadate for both sexes. But why couldn't they just copy Miranda or Tali's body and animations instead of trying to share the same animations for both Sheps?

Can't the Femshep animation just be patched? I mean, MMO's do it ALL THE FREAKIN TIME. I am not saying it has to be done right away, just saying that it can be tweaked within the year.

I'm not holding my breath for any patches. There's no economic reason for Bioware to do it. I'll be happy if they just apply the lessons learned to ME3.

It's really noticeable in Kasumi's loyalty mission, when Shepard wears a dress for a formal party.

Running around like that in a formal setting -- yeah...no. Absolutely atrocious animation-wise.

Speaking of Kasumi DLC, I'm surprised none of the guests recognized Shepard. Here's the girl who's been kicking all the bad guys' asses and none of them knew her on sight?

I'd thought there'll at least be a Shepard wanted poster right inside Hock's mansion with the message "Big $$$ for body". Then Shepard could say something cheesy like "I got to work harder, this poster says I'm only worth 10,000 credits".

hopefully the Devs will hear the cries of all the femShep fans. I play both male and female, and I would also like to see more animations exclusive to femshep.

Don't complain too much, or they'll remove walking all together... remember crouch? Distant memory!

Anyway, on-topic, try running in circles in ME 1 and then try it in ME 2 ( on PC W->A + S->D repeatedly) and see how ****ed up the animations are in the second, plus there's no fall animation? WTF s/he drops stiff as a stone when jumping down from a box or a pile of them for example.

ME 1's animations were more continuous/fluent they weren't that stiff and, jumping from one set of animations to another felt realistic.

Try going down on a set of stairs with your gun drawn, or watch an npc do it and see how awkward it is, better yet, watch Jacob run with his gun drawn now that's funny.

Take care guys!

I think I was the only one that noticed this, femShep was heavy downplayed in ME2.

I don't know why, maybe the devs (or EA) were jealous because of her sucess, since all the art and story focus on maleShep.

In ME1 she's much better than him, but now maleShep is better than her.

It's not only in the graphic department that she's bad, her own personality appears to be left "behind" maleShep on purpose.

-ROFL! How true especially considering that certain statue you bring to the party.

-Oh but they already did try to remove as much walking as possible. When was the last time you walked to the Normandy 2’s airlock to leave the ship. Everyone you need to talk to in the game including cameo appearances are within 20 feet of each other (got to Illium to see this at its worse) lol.

Ok trying to get back on topic a bit…

Is it me or do Asari seem to have issues with chairs?

-In ME1 Liara all but squirms out of her chair on the Normandy conference/comm room. -“Um the ships rest room is just down a deck if you have to go that badly. We can wait.”
-In ME 2 she has the need to stand up at least once when you talk to her (its been a while since I last played and cant remember how often she does it). -“Ok, I get it your on a holy crusade to get that shadow broker.” Damn, I’m so screwed if she finds out about me and… “Oh, yes dear, of course I was listening.”
-Aria will just sit down and say a few lines before standing up and to say something else. I sometimes wonder if I should ask her another question or tip her…

The biggest thing I noticed was that by using the same animations as MaleShep, there's a lot of floating. For example, when Shepard talks to Garrus and she folds her arms and leans on the railing, her arms aren't touching properly and they're hovering above the railing.

I always thought that there was something wrong with her walk, and you are right. The new dress from Kasumi's memory only makes it look worse. I have to make her run everywhere just to make it look... "sorta" normal. I agree that it is an issue that needs to be addressed, because many people prefer femShep (I know that I do).

Don't forget about Samara and the floor... I think that Morinth is the only one that actually sits down 80% of the time. XD

Actually, I think all Bioware needs to do is to use Femshep's ME1 walking/running animations in ME3.

This. I'm sure there is a reason why they changed it in the first place, but the animations in ME2 just don't work.

Yeah, FemShep got the bad end of a lot of things. I don't know, it's hard not to feel the Devs just don't care for FemShep much. I am more than sure that they knew giving FemShep the same animations as MaleShep would make things buggy considering MaleShep is MUCH larger than FemShep. His body size makes a lot of things looks normal, even his limp doesn't look bad bacause he's a big ripped guy. So FemShep walking AND limping like some big ripped male marine makes her look really bad. Then putting a smaller body in positon made for a bigger body, that's asking for thngs to float ( like FemShep does when talking to Samara ). There's no way the Devs didn't know about this if even I knew. If it was for time issues, why not make a patch? I don't think time had anything to do with it though. Again amazingly awesome game, but poor treatment of FemShep.

Yep, there is also dancing... in ME1 Femshep dances like the girls do (in the game) and in ME2 she just dances like a guy... That isn´t really nice. I mean I know you don’t "have" to dance, but what I don’t understand is why couldn´t they use the same animation they did for the first game.

-I guess I did forget Samara with her need to stand up a lot. Funny how Morinth is the only one really who seems totally at ease in a chair/couch. Must be her diet?

-Just using the dance moves you already see used on the dance floor is out of the question for femShep to use I guess huh? Its bad enough maleShep cant dance to save his life (or any male dancers for that matter)
