As you might guess by now, I think a ME movie would be a terrible idea. Any video game made into a movie has been a terrible idea.

That's actually a good choice for Shepard. Thank f*ck you didn't say Will Smith or something. How about Michael Douglas as The Illusive Man? I know he's older now, and he would have been perfect for the role ten or fifteen years ago, but I can't think of anybody that can play a smart, dominant, charismatic, womanizing a-hole better than him. Hell, that's been the man's entire career.

Glad you agree. I wholeheartedly hope that they consider him for the part. If a movie was made they would use a more paragon-like shep, and Chiwetel would just be outstanding. He has a great stage-presence and is very charismatic.

How about Alex Skarsgard for a Renegade Shep? You might have seen him  as Erik as True Blood (the coolest character on the show and one of the few people on it who can act) and in Generation Kill. He oozes a lot of charisma, authority, and sex appeal - all he'd have to do is play Erik again. I might be wrong though.

Video game movies have always ended up sucking horribly, but if there is one video game that could be turned into a legitimately interesting and entertaining film, it's Mass Effect. The game is cinematic in itself, it is fast-paced, and it already takes many cues from movies to begin with. It might still suck badly, sure, but what I'm trying to say is that the blueprint for a really great action movie is there.

Tbh I think Mass Effect has too much scope really for a film. A series would be better imo, plus we'd get more awesomeness than only a few hours.

I havent seen Alex Skarsgard in action i'm afraid. Checked out some pics and he does look cool though, i'de have to watch a film or two before deciding to agree or not hehe.

Am I the only person here who feels a movie on the actual Mass Effect storyline and not just based in it's universe is incredibly friggin' retarded? Especially in a series which encourages player choice and 'your Shepard'?

I agree, the Mass Effect Storyline is too good to not use. If they try to create another one it would pale in comparison to the real storyline. They can't create a decent rival of a storyline.
