Who has the best romance scene?

He clearly cares about Shepard to get over this whole dead-wife he's been on for years. He says so himself that basically he felt his life ended when he got rid of the last of the men who hurt Irikah, and now that he has met Shepard its given him something to live for. Its an emotional connection. Surprisingly Thane couldn't have been romanced by MaleShep (although there is evidence that suggests otherwise), because the fact that FemShep & Irikah are the same gender and makes a bigger obstacle, although in a way that helps with Thane's character by helping him get over the dead-wife hump.

Thane does love his dead wife more than Shepard. That's a fact. Shepard is the one to initiate a Romance between him not the other way around.
I'm going to stop you right here.
Shepard is the one to initiate a romance with all the ME2 LIs because that is how it was changed from ME1. Everyone complained about the ninja romances in ME1,thus, we got the romance triggers for every single LI in ME2.
And your fact, is not fact. It is opinion.

Hey, you're right. When I heard Liara threatening to flay people alive with her mind when I first met her on Illium, her clinginess was the first thing that came to mind. [/sarcasm]Elite Midget wrote...
In ME2 she lost a lot of her Clingyness, it's been two years, but you can still feel the vibes. Such as when you first meet her in Illium.

Miranda: too exhibitionist
Jacob: seems to be only about sex
Garrus: emotional connection is there but there's no physical consummation
Mordin: outright rejection
Jack: hits the right note between emotions and physical intimacy
Samara: again, outright rejection
Tali: can't get over the apparent age difference. It's cute but not my cup of tea
Thane: clearly very emotional but, as with Garrus, not enough physical consummation
Liara: is actually very similar to Kaidan/Ashley's, but hers adds a little bit of an apparent mental stimulation that is not really appealing to me
Now that I think on it, I think I prefer the ME1 romances because we get to see the after-effects. Shepard gets to actually converse with Ashley/Kaidan/Liara whereas in ME2 it just fades to black and it's immediately back to business.

I think a lot of that clingyness is gone, imo. When she says that she handed Shepard over to Cerberus, she says that she couldn't get over losing her. To me that showed that she realized the err of her almost obsession. A bit of that clingyness appears in the Captain's Quarters scene if you romanced her, but thats actually pretty reasonable since you are in a relaionship, and thats pretty natural to all of them.

If the OP means the best actual scene and not build-up, I'd have to say I quite like Kaidan/Ashley's love scene (since it's exactly the same) and Jack's. Here are my reasons:
Garrus: emotional connection is there but there's no physical consummation
Thane: clearly very emotional but, as with Garrus, not enough physical consummation
I actually think the lack of physicality in those two actually helped with the romance. I mean we all know what happened with Thane's romance, and its mostly an emotional connection. However I liked what they did with Garrus. Who ever said romance had to be about sex? That headbump right there to me is the best part of it, and to me that tender little touch is the most tender thing they physically could've done.

And that's why I prefer Liara's scene in lotSB. The dialogm, the feeling, the acting. It was all good, it didn't need boobies, or dry humping.MisterDyslexo wrote...

You are dillusional.
Thane loves his Dead wife a hell lot more than Shepard. They were together for YEARS and they had a kid together. Hell, she's brought out a side of him that was beyond just being a tool of death. So in the end Thane NEVER truely gets over his dead wife and looks forward into joining her soon since he has a year left to live. Not to mention upon her death he became depressed and went back to his old ways, to try and get over the loss of his true love, before finding out that he's about to die.
Thus no Romance between Thane and Shepard will EVER come close to what he had with his dead wife.
What? You're so full of yourself that you would kick the grave of a dead woman because you want to be Thane's Number#1 lovebird even though he hasen't even known you for a year?
Hell, Liara even mentions that you're trying to replace a Dead Woman(Good luck with that.), That Thane still loves even after her death, in a Years time. It ain't gonna happen. It's a fling and once Thane is dead Shepard can wallow in grief or move on.

Elite Midget, you realized you just insulted every person ever whose had a relationship with a widow/widower, right?
Honestly, I can't take what you say about Thane seriously now, because is seems like some personal experience or real-life situation is affecting this.

In ME1 Tali was that Geeky but Awesome little Sister. To me it's wrong to take advantage of her admiration for Shepard and get under her helmet. I feel the same way with Garrus as well since he looked up to Shepard in ME1 and Shepard helped to shape who he ended up becoming. Romancing him feels like an abuse of trust and authority.

I also find it Hard to imagine why You capitalize Words for no Apparent Reason.
To clarify, I think it's rather insulting to Tali to imply that she's not emotionally mature enough to handle this. There are some who'd fit that label (coughJackcough), but Tali's one of the most stable people with you. Yes, she has a crush on you and has had one for some time, but... cradle robbing? Really?

Saying he loves Shepard more than his Dead Wife is selfish and is simply lieing to yourself.

It seems thay way because Tali is a child compared to Shepard and she acts like a Bubbly Teenager swooning over Macho Shepard. Hell, her Romance boiled down to if they should have sex, despite the dangers, and how nervous she was because it was her 'first time'.

I agree with you on Tali but disagree with Garrus. He's a totally changed person from ME1. Remember the comment from Harkin:
"The Terminus really changed you Garrus"
"No. Sidonis just... opened my eyes."
Mostly due to the fact that he led this crusade (which he later says was pointless) on Omega that got 12 good people killed. He feels responsible for their deaths because the whole reason they had this crusade is because of his emotions. He's tried to emotionally cripple himself because he thinks by de-humanizing (?) himself that he won't put anybody else at harm, and that his actions can only hurt himself. Garrus thinks those deaths were because he is "too-human", so to speak. Shepard tries to break him from this line of thinking.

She probably is "clingy" because she actually cares for what Shepard thinks after returning from the dead, unlike Ashley/Kaidan, who'd rather stereotype Shep as a "Cerberus Sympathizer", traitor and Reaper-Apologist.bobobo878 wrote...

And of course she is not a tough-a** sergeant of the Alliance Armed Forces, but a smart academic..... Yeah them academics, all soft and clingy ! I say, shoot them all, just to be sure !!!
/irony OFF
Looking at all the romance options from ME-1 and ME-2, I got the strange feeling, that Liara is the only one who actually is in it for the long run, caring about Shepard first, and only second about the snogging. If you call that"clinging"............

I must be dense somehow, because this whole parade seems completely delusional to me. Why Thane needed to love Shepard MORE than Irikah? How are these two loves even related to each other, really, how are they measurable, like Irikah 100 love points, Shepard 70 love points? Why on Earth Thane ever needed to choose or make any sorts of comparisons? Adults, anyone, people with history?
And what does this have to do with best romance scene?

But since LotSB I feel Liara has really come into her own, she’s grown as a person. And the “date” scene in the captain’s cabin was extremely well done. Besides the galaxy’s most badass commando with the galaxy’s most powerful information broker, talk about a power couple!

I have to agree here. I always had mixed feelings about Liara, but all of a sudden around LotSB I realized I really like her, and the romance scene was very beautifully conducted. Not overboard, but fulfilling enough, so to say. Don't know if it's the best, but definitely one of the best ones in total.

Shepard: You love me, huh?
Thane: Yes. For some strange reason I love you more than my Dead Wife whom I spent years with. She who changed my life from that of a souless killing machine, is the mother of my child, and upon her death I entered a depression that lasted untill I found out that I was dieing. Lets also ignore the fact that I don't really 'know' you and that we have only known each other for less than a year. The fact that I'm dieing before years end and will join my wife upon my death should be ignored as well.
Shepard: What was that?
Thane: I'm dieing.
Shepard: Aren't we all?
Thane: /Facepalm

Now, the reality is it doesn't matter. This has become a competition between fictional characters that all seem to get along fine with each other in the actual story, with the exception of Jack and Miranda. It's ticking me off to see fans arguing about who is better for Shepard. Go take that kind of argument to the Twilight forums, keep it out of Mass Effect.
Please. I beg you. Thank you.
