I'm sort of hoping it is just a 1-2 hour piece of DLC now given that the article spoiled some pretty key pieces of dialogue. For some reason the spoilers are a bit more palatable if it turns out not to be the resolution of a 4+ hour long expansion pack quest.
"Spoiled" implies that something is official. This is not official. This is an instance of a series of writers recycling the same old (keyword: OLD) information and presenting it all as new. The files have been there since the game's retail. They are all listed as "cut."
I don't think this DLC should ever see the light of day. What dialogue and plot material is already there is dreadful and poorly developed and thought out.
Can you tell I'm bitter? Can you tell that I disapprove?

I agree, what we've heard is terrible and poorly done. Sounds like a 10min mission. How much you wana bet the mission consist of going something like "Going to Chora's Den and taking out (forget his name) on the way you fight a few gaurds.

Forget Liara. I wants more Kasumi.
I didn't say "forget Liara", but Kasumi is a very pleasant surprise.
Her personality is great (ha-ha), her background is very rich and her powers are very good and usefull.
She have overload for shields, her shadow/strike is freaking good for finishing enemys and her flashbang grenade is very usefull for distracting/disabling enemies, so you can finish them without trouble (and works with biotics/techs).
Plus she's HOT!
If I was Burt, I surelly will look too for more than her eyes and hands. LOL
Of course the downplay is the "very imaginative" solution for having a dialog with her (and Zaeed, BTW).
What a shame Bioware.
Maybe she will be back in ME3, who knows?

Since her old spot on the old Normandy isn't available on the new Normandy where would she stay while on board? I'm going with Shepard's cabin.
Illium or some other asari world. She would function like the Illusive Man in ME3, but there would be more conversations and you could actual travel to her location to see here in person... and for booty calls if you romance her. She doesn't strike me as a squadmate type anymore. I wouldn't mind if they did ME3 like Final Fantasy 4 where characters come and go so that at one point she could be a squadmate and then not so at another point.

if its not an expansion pack ill plug my ears and pretend to never meet the shadow broker. He is such a key figure in the ME world if its not a lengthy mission then whats the point
Whilst its very groovy to hear about possible Shadow Broker DLC. Could there not be a chance that those files just happen to be left in there, but BioWare decided not to put it in the full game as it might have been a weak piece for Mass Effect 2?

Interesting, Maybe they'll time him into ME3.

Do any of us really expect to still be playing Mass Effect a full year after its release? Forget the "hardcore" crowd here and think about the average game consumer. ME will be old news in the fall and competing with all the new game releases.
As has been said many times before, Bioware needs to follow Bethesda's model if they hope to maximize their profits.

Agreed. Doing an hour long or even two hour long mission to resolve Liara/SB would be weak. If they come out with an XP it should include more then SB/Liara. There should be some development involving the data from Kasumi's lover's greybox. The files you either sold or didn't sell to the SB about Cerebus in ME1. Tie it together, BW for ****'s sake.
This. The Shadow Broker better be an expansion pack. Any less than 5 hours would be garbage.

I've seen a lot of speculation that this will be released in the fall in time for the holidays. I really hope that's not the case. It would be marketing suicide for EA.

That would be great, But either way they got my support. This holiday season is going to be inteteresting.

If this DLC is done (and I hope it is) it needs to be done right - and nothing but a large expansion will suffice.

Setting the hype machine in perpetual motion is what leads to whining, complaining, bellyaching, ****ing, kvetching, and disappointment.
I'm not making anything of it besides discarded assets from a path that BioWare decided not to trod, like the F/F-M/M romances in ME1.

The Shadow Broker just sort of turned into a bad guy for one reason or another. I don't know. Ask BioWare, it's their game.askanec wrote...
Maybe I'm missing something, but why does everyone want the Shadow Broker dead, aside from Liara's quest for revenge (and I never liked her anyway)?
I'm wondering the same thing myself.
