And yes, no upgrade / mineral carry over on NG+ was horrible, considering I got more minerals importing an ME1 character.

Yeah, because of this, I NEVER did an NG+ playthrough until I was able to mod my save to have all the credits and resources I need.
I don't mind fighting things, but after 8 playthroughs I like not having to worry about Hacking/Bypassing every single PDA and terminal that comes my way just to afford everything.

Oh, and did I mention the joy of not having to scan any planets :P

I was sort of bored with playing ME2 last week and then I modded my Infiltrator to have a Revenant Machine Gun, and then gave Legion and Garrus both Revenant Machine Guns and Widow Sniper rifles.

It sounds like you're just upset at losing upgrades with NG+, which well, so am I.

I think these are the two important reasons why he is a little bored of the game.

Its always the same with sequals. We wait around 2 years for the next game and hammer the hell out of it. Any changes from the original and people hate it etc etc.

Personally I think its the combat in this game that gives it that touch more replayability over the original game.

But I reckon people could complete the game 10 times over in different ways, and still find something new on there 11th playthrough.

I really do think Mass Effect is getting way too much stick for what it deserves. If it wasn't for the original Mass Effect, I would have gotten rid of my 360 a long time ago. Instead it was so frikkin cool that I didn't mind waiting for the sequal. And now that its here I am very happy with the end result.

Yes, I'm losing interest in playing the game but not because of anything that has to do with the game itself. I consider Mass Effect 2 to be a masterpiece not only of gaming, but also as a work of art. However, I'm only human and even a masterpiece is not immune to the human need for exploration and change and new experiences.

Out of curiosity, has anyone actually done a playthrough where they melee'ed everything...?

yes because I was jealousy of kasumi's shadow ability I started an Infilitrator play through and basically used a modified shadow ability.

I find ME2 far more replayable than ME1. I'd explain why but I don't feel like it and I think it's obvious.

Anyone think its possible that Bioware could release replay-specific DLC?

dunno about the rest of you, but fully completing ME1 felt like a chore. it was so bad that it got to the point where i had to force myself to finish it, even though i ended up hating it. on the other hand, i have finished ME2 6 times completely. game set and match ME2

I have not lost any interest in it since I got it the day it came out.  I have beat it about 8 or 9 times (still haven't played through as a guy yet though).  I loved the Kasumi DLC and i'm looking forward to the Redemption DLC. :)

I would say that being able to play a 20+ hour game more than twice is pretty commendable. If you start getting bored after the 6th time (!), I'd say that you've gotten your money's worth out of the game. Nothing wrong with playing other games while waiting for ME3.

I have very much enjoyed both ME1 and ME2 but I do agree that there is just "something" not quite there in ME2 vs ME1. I suspect that it is the fact that the universe was "smaller" in ME2, by that I mean that the size of locales was less (Citadel was large in ME1 but barely worth going to in ME2, Omega and Illium were OK but were still limited, especially if you revisit them).

I don't know, but it SEEMED that we were more linearly restricted in ME2 vs ME1.

I liked the combat more in ME2, I did NOT mind the Mako from ME1 (though I DO like the hover craft thing add-on in ME2 more than the ME1 Mako).

My hope is that ME3 will be huge - a massive universe with more exploration and variety and dialog beyond even ME1, even if that would mean a delay of months in release date.

My wife asked me, for her birthday, to not play Mass Effect for a week. It's been two days, and I'm dying. So the answer to the OP question is no.

I think a break from the game makes it a fresher experience later on. I havent played in awhile but I still hang around the forums.

According to Mac Walters (writer of comic), the comic mini-series will be "expanding on
characters that we didn't really explore in Mass Effect 1 and
also looking at opportunities to expand on them even further in the DLC."

Brako, I googled and found this: http://masseffect.wi...ect:_Redemption

It is kind of a filler story between ME1 and ME2 in a comic book form that will likely lead to downloadable content.

Maybe it is that I have grown older since ME1. I am not really sure, I can't put a finger on it. But I played ME1 to death, loved the replay with my same character again. I know its weak, but I really liked finding new slightly better armor or weapons each play.

ME2 I played once, and I've started a half a dozen characters but can't really get interested past the first mission to find Mordin.

Once I start having to mine for materials, I just stop playing, start a new character and quit again.

I know some dog my type of players, the equipment junkies, I know, this isn't Diablo. But I miss being able to play and replay and find new stuff, even if its just slighting better versions of old stuff. I find little reason to replay when nothing changes, not even the equipment. It is just playing the same game again, over and over, I know I will never find anything random,  the new smg will always be in the same place, the upgrades will always be in the same place.

Yes, this is a talky story driven game, i loved it. But some weapon, armor and upgrade collecting would go a long way to support the linear story. ME1 was a inear story, but I had fun playing again, just wandering what iems I would find. ME2 has so much better gameplay, it is a shame that there is little reason to play it again. The awesome gameplay combined with random items and more reason to play it over and over again would have rocked.
