Watch the the "making of it" vid and take those comments and put them in the game, IT FITS PERFECT. From the art in Mass 1, to the hole VIBE of the story and Mass Effect's universe. It really felt like you could be there and the univerese felt lonely and unkown, and had that "space travel mass effectness".
I might just be old school or whatever, (pick one). Mass 1 just had that Mass magic to it. And Mass 2 didn't for me.
And I'm not saying that it didn't for you either.
My opinion and if you don't like, just remember I really like reading yours, even though we are not on the same page.
And yes I am.

Maybe it is that I have grown older since ME1. I am not really sure, I can't put a finger on it. But I played ME1 to death, loved the replay with my same character again. I know its weak, but I really liked finding new slightly better armor or weapons each play.
ME2 I played once, and I've started a half a dozen characters but can't really get interested past the first mission to find Mordin.
Once I start having to mine for materials, I just stop playing, start a new character and quit again.
I know some dog my type of players, the equipment junkies, I know, this isn't Diablo. But I miss being able to play and replay and find new stuff, even if its just slighting better versions of old stuff. I find little reason to replay when nothing changes, not even the equipment. It is just playing the same game again, over and over, I know I will never find anything random, the new smg will always be in the same place, the upgrades will always be in the same place.
Yes, this is a talky story driven game, i loved it. But some weapon, armor and upgrade collecting would go a long way to support the linear story. ME1 was a inear story, but I had fun playing again, just wandering what iems I would find. ME2 has so much better gameplay, it is a shame that there is little reason to play it again. The awesome gameplay combined with random items and more reason to play it over and over again would have rocked.
To each their own, but how could you possibly find better weaponry once you've gotten the Spectre gear anyways? I thought the inventory was a mess and I'm happy it's gone, although I totally understand your enjoyment of hoarding phat l3wt from playing Diablo.

You play a game through six times, then you complain about how it's getting boring? *facepalm*

Well, most of us HAVE been playing the jesus out of this game, .
Watch your mouth. You're a mod. I'd expect this outta troll.
Naaa, this how he has always posted.
Id love to see this "most of us" BS proved as well.
If you go by posts on forum, MOST played the game (ME2) less then 3 times. But what ever, Javier never been to keen on the facts, just his sides stances and twist everything to fit.
But your right, As a mod its pretty sad, This like the 9th time since release I seen someone questions this mods "unbias and non commiting stance on topics".
Stanley says some really outta here things but he NEVER steps over that boundry where he takes one side over the other. I can RESPECT Stanley for that, dont always agree with him but do respect him.
Im opinionated but im not a mod so im allowed. A mod should just FAIRLY and EVENLY enforce the rules and not get involved in picking sides as they are suppose to be a MATURE representative of Bioware on these forums!
Thats how I see it anyways.

I am single, but first promise you won't tell Kaiden about us. What he don't know won't hurt him. The last time he got mad over a girl... well, it wasn't pretty.

Brako, I googled and found this: http://masseffect.wi...ect:_Redemption
It is kind of a filler story between ME1 and ME2 in a comic book form that will likely lead to downloadable content.
Cheers for the info chief.
But wouldn't that of suited DLC for the first Mass Effect game? How would they work it into Mass Effect 2? Before or after the end battle with the Collectors?

Sure, ME1 has its moments. The story is quite intriguing, and it's paced well so I kept wanting to know what's about to happen next. If it were not the case, I wouldn't have bothered finishing the game.
However, I find myself completing ME2 again and again. Though the scale of danger in the story line (bunch of colonists getting abducted) pales in comparison to ME1 (galaxy under danger), I find more enjoyment when I don't spend more time fighting the gameplay than evil aliens.

Technically I'm on my third playthrough (as I scrapped my first attempt at playing a vanguard) but even then I can't see myself playing the game again once I finish insanity mode. Unless there's DLC, ME2 doesn't have enough meat to it, atleast gameplay-wise. I find that I love to go through the stories (in spite of their flaws) but find things like planet scanning tedious and the minimal inventory and skimpy side quests, disappointing. Frequently visiting these forums and recording cutscenes only makes me reach that saturation point much faster. -_-"

played it through once when i first got it and twice more in preperation for ME2. i find ME2 has a greater replayability and misses that chore factor. that said i agree there is soemthing missing i cant put my finger on either

I've finished ME2 only 2 times, one proper and one speed run
In the 3 years ME1 has been released I've beaten it less than 5 times (I don't know exactly how many times)

I think Star Wars, when it originally came out it was totally WOW! OMG! LOOK AT THAT! It was a first, the graphics/effects were (for then) truly new and spectacular. It broke new ground. Then a set of other spec effects movies came along and the WOW simply became "wow" and then "not bad at all" (in lower case). ME was new, different. ME2 is a year-ish later and part of a herd of other great games so that now it has gone from upper case "WOW" to, perhaps, lower case "wow". It is inevitable.
Think Doom. When THAT first came out it was something else. It had "WOW!" and "OMG!", etc. It opened a floodgate of similar FPS games such that now, they are all pretty much all lower case exclamation games. I suspect that the only way to get an upper case "WOW" game now is either via much stronger AI and immersion (probably the last being via true 3D).
I suspect I will greatly enjoy ME3 but it simply will not (and cannot) have the same initial wow factor that ME had for me (and likely you all) unless they really make some sort of viable breakthrough in interactivity, immersion, non-linearity, etc. The graphics portion is pretty much set in (soap) stone so it cannot come from there.

i loved ME1 even though it did become a chore to explore every planet by mako. yes i did like the mako and the exploration but yeah did get a bit much to do a 100% complete playthrough.

im on my 13th playthrough . and i do agree that as great me2 is it is missing something and that i think is longer exploration choices. i beat me1 again for god knows what number but me1 felt like it had more of a threat feel to it. i love both games but me2 felt more about learning about the crew honestly and i think thats why its so diffrent. and plus we are working with a terrorist group in the game. is me2 a great game yes but is mass effect 1 better oh hell yes.
