After beating the game on Insanity, and beating it for the sixth time, I'm starting to stop caring about playing it. I mean I never played a game six times, but I ended up playing the multiplayer. Mass Effect 2 didn't come close to the replayablity of Mass Effect 1. It's more of a pain in the ass to loose all of your upgrades that I worked so hard for at the begining of each palythrough than it is hard. Its not like they couldn't have given us more upgrades and increase the enemies. It just gets old dealing with the same mining for upgrades, opening scenes, and the SAME equipment. Its not that hard to give an extra gun or two at a replay. Mass Effect 1 could be replayed even without DLC, and it seems the Mass Effect 2 its basing its replay value COMPLETLY on their DLC. Until someting else gets released, I'll be playing other games.
Agree with you. I played ME 1 multiple times. It has high playability. ME 2 looks pretty. But not as high in playability. I have only played once. Tried to play again but I gave up. No continous leveling. Very leveled in 2nd playthrough. Starting another character just seems tedious. I would start another ME 1 toon any time.

This. Shooting up stupid enemies in completely linear levels where always the same tactics apply, only gets you so far as far as replayability is concerned. I replay ME 1 for its fantastic story, amazing cutscenes, choices that matter and make a visible difference, believable NPCs, and beautiful romances. ME 2 has way too little of these things, and where it does, it's usually done worse.
Edit: Oh yeah, and for the space exploration part too (Mako). Plus I like to have an inventory and an actual RPG system. These last two things may not have been perfect in ME 1, but to trash them altogether, only decreased replayability further.

Story was decent, nothing amazing. I mean, hell, how could you not see a huge plot twist coming? It's your typical BioWare formula: some big crisis occurs in the beginning ==> you become a Jedi/Grey Warden/Spectre ==> you collect 4 Star Maps ==> OMGplottwist!!!! ==> Final planet/quest hub ==> Dramatic conclusion ==> ??? ===> Profit!

I probably did about as many ME1 playthroughs. I fell completely in love with ME1 when I first got it, and had quite a few import saves for ME2.

Don't get me wrong ME2 is great but ME1 feels less......... confining for some reason
But ya still playing, still a couple of story and character combos to try, finally decided to do ME1 on Insanity, now I just have to do ME2 on Insanity.

That all depends on the gamers level of knowledge of Bioware cliche. Not everyone here has played every Bioware game to date in their respective order of release.
Companies usually stick to the formulas they know well, nothing wrong with that. I am not tired of the basic formula, my problems are coming from the execution.

As disinterested as you are, would you go so far as to say that ME2 WASN'T worth the $60.00 ?BP20125810 wrote...
You just shouldn't have too invent new ways to play. That all goes back to the inventory system and loot.

Nah, I loved the game. But, after following its production for a year, I'm begining to get interested in other games. Which is inevitable, but still a process that everyone has to go through.

The global cooldown also prevent that power classes uses a lot of their abilities at least at higher difficulties.
The mainstory is pure crap.Only some good sidestorys like grunts ritus rescue Mass Effect 2.

I think a break from the game makes it a fresher experience later on. I havent played in awhile but I still hang around the forums.
Yeah I agree on this one.
In ME1 got in my 2nd playthrough, but then got bored. And in this year I realized that it is not too far till the ME2 comes out, so I started to play ME1 again and it was mind blowing, for 2 more playthroughs at least

I had the same feeling after I had beat ME2. It just seemed a little unsatisfying, and I found myself excusing the game and dismissing my disapointment as me just getting older and growing out of games. And then I replayed ME1, and for whatever reason, I got sucked back in. I have since decided that ME1 is a really really good game (my favorite of all time), and that ME2 is just another standard 9 out of 10 game that every reviewer tells you to buy. My integrity forces me to declare that ME2 is, for me, a shallow game.Kileyan wrote...
Maybe it is that I have grown older since ME1. I am not really sure, I can't put a finger on it. But I played ME1 to death, loved the replay with my same character again. I know its weak, but I really liked finding new slightly better armor or weapons each play.
ME2 I played once, and I've started a half a dozen characters but can't really get interested past the first mission to find Mordin.
Once I start having to mine for materials, I just stop playing, start a new character and quit again.
I know some dog my type of players, the equipment junkies, I know, this isn't Diablo. But I miss being able to play and replay and find new stuff, even if its just slighting better versions of old stuff. I find little reason to replay when nothing changes, not even the equipment. It is just playing the same game again, over and over, I know I will never find anything random, the new smg will always be in the same place, the upgrades will always be in the same place.
Yes, this is a talky story driven game, i loved it. But some weapon, armor and upgrade collecting would go a long way to support the linear story. ME1 was a inear story, but I had fun playing again, just wandering what iems I would find. ME2 has so much better gameplay, it is a shame that there is little reason to play it again. The awesome gameplay combined with random items and more reason to play it over and over again would have rocked.

As I have gotten older, I have lost interest in a lot of game genres. Its mostly RPG/Action Adventure games I play these days.
But with devs like BioWare Rockstar and Bethesda. I atleast know I am going to have atleast 2-3 qaulity games per year. everything else I usually lose interest in due to hating repatition. Its only the devs mentioned and IO who make games worth playing over and over.
For the full price of Mass Effect and the DLC content I bought. It has been the best gaming purchase for quite a few months.
