ROFLMAO. If it weren't for the poorly structured PC responses, I might have liked her. Unfortunately, the PC is only allowed to relate to her in one of 2 ways: moronic syncophant or childish prat.

Mods, I love Mods. I think that's part of why I gravitate to games like NWN1/NWN2/Morrowind/Oblivion and now Dragon Age.
If it is unbearable to you, someone else may have already decided to make that change and post it. If not, I can try, or tweak the closest mod. There is more than one option to squelch Shale's feet out there.
Maybe I like Shale because I turned off her feet ASAP ... or as I think of it ... put felt stick-on pads over them like my kitchen chairs on the tile floor.

*feels so alone*
I guess the one I like the least would be... ah... I guess Oghren and Wynne. And I still really like both of them...

In Awakenings, my least favorite is Velanna. Angry b*tchy Dalish was overdone.
I think that's the point. Dalish are notorious for being bitter, full of hatred and hard to be around.. and her clan actually kicked her out for being TOO bitter. This from the people who give us examples such as Tamlen, who admonishes you for not resenting humans properly, or Sarel, who chews you out for wanting to help.
Anyways, she grew on me once I got her approval up high and gave her the blank journal and such. She's a bitter person, but she's a genuine person too. She has a lot of room for character growth.. and she had some, but alas, Awakening is only so long.
What I found most interesting was the dynamic between her and Nathaniel.

This is what made her interesting for me. This could have been the avenue for Velanna to change.
I really believe that companions romancing each other is as interesting and revealing (if not more so) than the PC doing all the romance.
Inter-companion romance should be present in future games.

Nathaniel is nothing like his father, he is truly a good, noble person. I think finding that goodness in a human took Velanna by surprise, and the fact he complimented her and showed a genuine respect for her really knocked her for a loop.

I love Wynne, but I agree. I love Wynne because I look past that best I can. The problem isn't really with her, it's the responses they allow you expect you to be either an ass or completely naive.
I don't think SHE expects you to be either one or the other, as on rare occasion you can talk back to her without disapproval, but the responses force you into it.

I liked him in Origins, I really enjoyed him and I liked how he was like the others in a sense that the Warden could change his life and become a friend (and sometimes I'm a sucker for that kind of humour, lame I know) but in Awakenings it's like he taken a huge leap backwards from that. Some dialogue may be funny, but it feels... over-used at points. Plus the fact that with my Wardens he was supposed to have reformed with Felsi or become a general and instead reverts back to a drunken haggard with no reaction from PC kinda miffed me.
Origins I really don't know. I used to hate Zevran with a fiery passion, but after talking to him more he's grown on me... they all have, so it's really hard. I suppose I'll have to say... Loghain. Even if his cause is explained and a softer side of him is shown, I still can't really forgive him for causing the deaths of hundreds of people and a king, the enslavement of elves, the poisoning of Eamon, oh and hiring an assassin to kill you.

I don't know about you, but I could definitely forgive Loghain for sending Zevran after me
Zevran is one of those companions that grew on me over time. When I first saw him and heard his voice I was absolutely... 'repulsed' is the right word. Now, I can hardly imagine a playthrough without him.

Oh yes, I was 'repulsed' as well. I thought he was a disgusting letch with an infuriatingly cliche accent and personality. I never took him anywhere, never heard him talk at all. But when I tried the romance on him he grew on me, and I started to use him. Now that I take him out more and I hear his convos with companions, his pervy banter has me laughing in stitches (magical bosom, golem reproduction, conception between two males, who else could possibly get away with those?)

Awakening: Velenna was over the top but strangley found Ogrhen more annoying (he didn't annoy me in Origins.)
Shale is most favourite character (although Alastair a close second since he was sweet), I find it difficult to understand how Shale could be annoying to some people given the great lines she had.

Do not want (DA:A): Oghren
Meh (DA:A): Velanna, Sigrun
All others I like quite a lot.

Oghren - don't like mean, boring, cliche'd drunks.
Morrigan - don't like selfish b**ches who get forgiven because they're hot (and because they've got great spells).
Isolde - (keep your hands off your brother-in-law, bee-ach)
Sten - don't like crazy killers who explode because you've gone too far north.
People who grew on me:
Zev - didn't like him at first. I like him better now & he can really backstab!
People who got old:
Wynne - preachy and not as nice as she first appeared.
Leiliana - does she ever have a short answer to anything?
People I still like to this day:
Alistair (can't say enough)
Bann Teagan (get that Orlesian bee-ach away from him).
Jowan (the loser I most would have liked to redeemed).
BTW - did anyone else hate the fact that if you let Alistair die, he doesn't even get a funeral???? That really ticked me off. Hey when the Warden dies, the warden got a funeral. Where was Alistairs? Sorry, off topic, but just had to say it.

I'm sure he did (and so did Loghain if he US instead). It's just that since you're alive it's more appropriate to ask everyone about their travel plans, choose your boon, decide what your own plans are, reunite with your origin-specific person, ect. at a coronation where the mood is festive than at a solemn event like a funeral.Carmen_Willow wrote...

But Loghain gets a statue though
One that glares at the Orlesian Embassy no less.

She's the most adorable companion in Awakening. I swear, she must be distantly related to Dagna.soignee wrote...
