Asari meet another race, they start evaluating them as potential genetic material first and resource conflict second.  That's a huge difference.  If an asari ship had come upon the humans instead of the turians there probably woudn't have been any conflict.  Well other than we can't get this ship to quit following us around...

It would have been a match made an heavan and there would have been a human Asari alliance that would control the galaxy.

But that didn't happen did it.  This may be reason though, that the Asari counciler seemed more receptive to Shep becoming a Spectre in ME1.

Tuian counciler:  The humans need to learn their place, or they face the wrath of the council and war.

Asari counciler:  *realized that the Asari look like hot human females and human males ( also females) are ripe for the pickens for Asari evolution and viability*
