I don't eat cake or pie because I avoid refined sugars.

If I were to ever eat one it would be apple pie baked with a whole wheat crust, dairy and egg free, trans fat free and sweetened with stevia rather than sugar.

Pie wins for me. Cake is too dry or has too much icing. For the sake of argument, would you consider an ice cream cake as being part of the cake family? Even if it had no actual cake in it?

Caramel Dutch Apple Pie still warm from the oven with a scoop of home-made vanilla ice cream!

(Darn, now I'm going to have to go to the corrupt a wish thread & wish I had one of these pies)

If we are including ice cream cake, I still like pie better. I'd put ice cream cake more in the ice cream category than I would the cake category.

Cheescake is technically a pie isn't it? It has a crust.

Yep, cheesecake has a crust and a filling. Its totally a pie...it just wants to hang out with the cake crew.

Definitly Cake, Blackforest Cake Chocolate Cake instead of having frosting in the middle it has Cherries the outside is Vinillia frosting sometimes chocolate shaving on the outside.



As for Pies, Dutch Apple with the crum crust.

Hmm pie is good....but I gotta say cake.....I go bat **** crazy for cake. Really one of the best parts of my brothers wedding was the fraking amazing cakes.

Reason---pie has the potential to get soggy, as opposed to cake which is expected to be moist to an extent. Pie is only good fresh imo, where as cake has a longer shelf life.
Most pies are too fruity for my tastes, dont get me wrong, I love apple pie, but some others, like cherry or blueberry are just too fruity for my tastes.

Pie does win in variety though, one can have types of pie for a meal, such as kiesh which is a breakfest pie a sweet potato pie.....great thanks forums now im hungry for things I cant possibly get on campus...



All that said, if I ever had a choice between pie and cake, as a desert, I would go with cake...I just like cake more.
