Alrighty, here's my issue. I just installed the game for the first time. As soon as I hit "play" at the first menu a message comes up saying "Direct3d is not available because the computer is locked." How am I to correct or "unlock" this?

Just reboot the system.
I'm still trying other things, so hopefully I'll get it to work eventually.

Do you by any chance have an ATI HD5xxx card, Catalyst 10.3 installed and your monitor connected through D-Sub (= standard VGA)?
