I think Udina was the cause of that.

I don't the game indicates that but even so where the hell did HE get the idea.

There was like no evidence at that point that Saren was even THINKING about the citadel.

At first, Shepard, Udina and Anderson believed Saren was out to kill as many humans as possible.

That changed on Virmire when he gives his monologue about the inevitable destruction of EVERYONE unless he can show that organics may have use to the Reapers, too ... even if only as tools.

The Council then thinks Saren's out of his mind and are happy with the idea he's somewhere out in the Terminus systems making a fool of himself. Provided he stays there and doesn't try to come back.

"Reapers? Indoctrination? Saren's ship talked to you and explained that it and thousand others like it wipe out every civilization in the galaxy about every 50,000 years? Humbug!"

Blame them for not having played KOTOR - then they would have seen it coming after listening to Tali's sound file, huh?

Why? Well we saved her from the mind controlling plant (a lot cooler then a mine), she can analyze our visions (like Liara), and she's purple (unlike Liara) and you rarely see asari of that color.

I think you'll find that Shiala is green. :P

Wait WHAT?!!! NO SHE'S NOT!

Right? She came out of the Thorian purple, we left Feros with her being purple.

Now if you're referring to ME2 and she SOMEHOW turned green, well IDK I haven't gotten to that part in the game yet, haha.

She is purple in Me1 (which is nice) and turns green as part of an illness in Me2

Yeah, Shiala I like. She seems sincere...and I love her eyes. She is the only asari (other than the cop) who doesn't seem to feel she's superior or has some kind of affectation going on.

This sounds more like a thread of prejudice rather than uselessness. Liara is a focal point in the Mass Effect story, the best (non-shepard) biotic on the team, and a mindsexual by nature. Don't hate! Congratulate.

I think it basically went like this:

"OMG SAREN WANTS TO TAKE OVER THE GALAXY!"

"QUICK! DEFEND THE CITADEL-MOBILE!"

Ergo, Saren will attack the Citadel.

I just replayed Me1 and it's true, the Council just calls you and the asari counsellor , just states that you hinted at Saren attacking the Citadel...

I just assume that sicne Reapers created the Citadel> Shepard wrote it in his report>the Council read the report> attack on Citadel in report and therefore not seen as mentioned in the cutscenes.

About Shiala, in ME1 she herself is purple but all the clones the thorian makes are green. It's easy to miss; I myself didn't realize it until she pointed it out in ME2.

As for Saren attacking the Citadel, the journal entry you get immediately after finding both the Conduit's location (Ilos) and the location of the Mu relay says that you must warn the Council that Saren will attack the Citadel. This too is easy to miss; as soon as you go to the galaxy map the events that lead to the lockdown of the Normandy occur (including the asari councilor's line "If Saren is foolish enough to attack the Citadel, as you believe, we will be ready for him").

I suspect that this is a plot hole; at that point Shepard should only know that Sovereign needs the Conduit for something and that it is on Ilos. He/she shouldn't have any idea what the Conduit really is, how it works or that the relay monument is involved. I personally think that in a previous version of the story Shepard found out what Sovereign's plan is on Virmire instead of on Ilos, and that this part was later rewritten, resulting in the plothole.

I realize this is rhetorical, but I am going to answer it anyway.

I do not like Liara for several reasons.  She seems artful and disingenuous.  Her monotone responses felt as though she were reading her words from a page and not speaking from what she felt.  Her near fainting spells after every major mission seemed more a ploy for sympathy or attention than a real medical situation, especially in light of her refusing medical assistance the second time.  Aesthetically (I know...I know...no real room to spout off here) the head is something that is a real turn-off for me.  I do not mind strange hands or feet...I dunno, I might be less unattracted to a female Turian, but that head thing they have going on is just...well...I don't like it.

I just do not find her a credible or appealing character.  I get that people like her, cuz there is no accounting for taste.  I felt compelled to respond, not to disrespect the fans, but to answer the question.  I get why people do not like Tali.  I do not agree, obviously quite the opposite, but I get it.  Hell, I even appreciate that people make fun of her with the Tali's face thread.  It's kinda funny.
