When it was established in the first game how the focus was on story, fans of ME1 have every right to be pissed about the 180 Bioware pulled with ME2.

And that entitles you to think that everyone that likes the new features is some brainless shooter nerd, only in it for PEW PEW LAZORZ.

For the record, we're all "fans" of ME1, otherwise we probably wouldn't of had a interest in the sequel.

I don't see what this had to do with this thread, anyway. We're discussing the merits of nudity. It wasn't necessary to direct your 'SPLOSIONS rant at one particular person because they have a different opinion than yours.

Well that's not the popular opinion with many members here. Apparently there's not enough fans of the original to count on there being enough buys to the sequel so Bioware needs to bring in new fans. And they still need to bring in new fans for ME3,

The way off base assumption of how the only people that want nudity in video games are ComicCon nerds is BS and I was just pointing that out. It's just as bad as bringing up The Sims when discussing romance in games or saying a gamer who wants a game that focuses on plot above all else should go "read a book".

Both plot and gameplay should have the same equal qaulities in a game. If the game is not ineresting in the story part, then what the hell is the point? If the game has a great story but lacks gameplay what is the point? You might as well have gone to watch a movie instead.

Truth be told, if I want that kind of enligtenment, I probably would read a book. I'm all for intriguing stories and plots, but quite frankly, sometimes I don't want or expect the same kind of storytelling genius from playing a video game. I don't think it's wrong that I want to shut my brain off and snipe some pixelated bad guys every once in a while.

But hey, what do I know. Apparently, I'm not much of a "real" fan of the series anymore, since I happen to enjoy the "improved" TPS gameplay. I should just be able to appreciate spamming my Spectre X weapon without penalty, because hey, at least the story is better.

There are different genres of television, film, and books. Why can't there be more Alan Wake, ME1, Heavy Rain, or Final Fantasy X games? Why?

Beats me. Ask the publishers.

Until then, ease off the people that are just trying to enjoy what the studios put out.

They´re still better than games with bad gameplay.

Just compare the "Lord of the Rings" novels with EA´s LotR-games.

Why can't the story driven game fans make their opinions heard? Bioware says themselves they listen to feedback and are willing to alter their games based on the insight of those who give them money.

Big deal. Like the video I cited says, video games can be emotional beyond "uber pwnage".

They can, but they can´t forbid others to make them heard as well. That´s Free speech for you.

But the games suck like hell while the novels are probably the greatest stories that were ever written.

There will always be poor video games. There will always be poor TV shows. There will always be poor movies. There will also always be good and even great video games, shows, and films, so I don't know where you're getting with that.

Not only does it have a nice ring, but what a great way to end the romantic relationships?

Now before you start proclaiming my virginity and demeaning me please hear me out.

It will make you care about the characters more, by literally exposing themselves to you the relationships become far more intimate.

Its not that taboo anymore because its becoming more and more frequent in gaming. Recent games like Heavy Rain and God of War have had it and was met with little or no fuss.

It pushes boundaries and thats what this series is all about. Taking the RPG genre as far as it can go. Its not too crazy of an idea and when done appropriately can be very tasteful and add to the gaming experience of ME3.

Thoughts?

I think it's actually kinda pointless, if you want a porn game I know a guy who can point ya toward pretty much anything you could possibly want.  The more they offer as far as bare ass, the more people are going to complain about not being able to turn the Normandy into their own personal harem ship instead of getting on with the story.  GoW's nudity was tapping anything that moved, not something that really applies with Mass Effect, since I don't care for turning Commander Shepard into Captain James T. Kirk of the U.S.S. Enterprise.  That being said, I care about ALL my squad-mates.  I don't need to tap one in order to want to keep them alive at the end of the mess, and I certainly don't need to see Miranda's knockers to give a crap about keeping her alive.  That's what the loyalty missions are for, to show you WHY they're with you (in some cases).  They may not always succeed, but staring a boobs definately won't.

Not going to accuse you of being a kid that couldn't get laid if your life depended on it.  Don't know you well enough for that.  Just don't think that's a direction this game should go as I really DON'T need another game I can't play with my son running around.

Well, the whole nudity thing may turn around soon. I mean, the Supreme Court is about to start a case on hammering down onminors who buy M-rated games. If it goes right, then the developers will obviously know that the law can keep most minors from getting a hold of them, thus maybe allowing more mature content, like nudity, since they know an all adult audience is only playing those games.

my opinion, of course

There's also the risk of having fewer M rated games since it'd be cutting into the market share.  Don't get me wrong, I know there's a lotta us old farts playin games out here, but there's a LOT of minors playing too.

I don't think the market would be effected that much Sevrun. I know plenty of people in my college that still play video games. I hope that goes through. Maybe we can actually get somewhere with 17+ games. Im tired of seeing huge amounts of gore on television then hearing of all the fuss over a boob. Give me a break. Get your priorities straight parents.

the human body is natural... (The Statue of David... really?)
seeing human bodies mangled, burned, blown up, etc is completely cool on television?

Well it is important for children to learn to kill, as that makes them useful for their state in the army.

They aren´t useful if they learn to enjoy sex - in the best case noone cares, in the worst they don´t use contraceptives and contribute to overpopulation.

If you're going to have romance and allow that romance to proceed to what is an obviously sexual encounter, censoring it -- and by that I mean 'sex with pants on', or 'cut to morning after' -- just seems silly.
