You have a MASSIVE problem with difficulty.

It's as if Bioware suddenly forgot all concept of difficulty levels.
I'm playing on normal and I'm expecting it to be challenging but fun, there's still pleanty of more difficult settings available where I would expect much harder fights. Instead what I get is more and more impossible fights that cannot be won unless you do everything perfectly.
There is no fun to be had slamming against one brick wall after another. But that's what every fights is turning into. In all seriousness what the hell were you thinking here? Either they've completely failed to balance the game properly or they made the "proper" gameplay too obtuse to be of any use.
And if anyone cares to contradict, I don't care if YOU find this game easier with your uber combinations and/or cheats. I know what I'm doing I have a good team with good armor using all of them as best as I can. I'm not the only one with this problem, even people playing on easy, after the patch, claim the game still has too many impossible fights.
The game should not be this way. At the end of the day all this accomplishes is encouraging people to stop playing the game, which is the opposite of what you should be doing. Unless you're assuming people will use cheats, which is a huge failure on your part yet again.

I understand people getting frustrated, but I think that is also a result of a lot of bad habits, learned from other, less challenging games.
this isnt mass effect where you can just blast through everything
I died so much when I first started and was equally frustrated, but then I stopped ignoring the tactics, and started setting up my group better. Started learning what they could all do and how best to use them. I started pausing the game more and setting up basic pull stratiges. You cant just run in and expect your 3 AI controlled party members to hold down the fort while you pew pew everything.
without specific complaints, im not sure you can get much of a response..unless you just want to vent which is fine I guess.
Protip: set a tactic bar on every team memeber to a healing poltice. self: health < 50% = use lowest health poltice.
You can of course set the values to whatever you want, but that will help take some of the micro management away and save some lives.

Easy is VERY VERY easy, almost a joke. There is no strategy involved; you just a-move into every fight and win.
However, the jump to normal is larger than it should be. On normal the game makes you play at a high level to be successful in a lot of fights and is very unforgiving for newer gamers who'd expect normal to be, well normal.
This is why the patch change to make "easy easier" is foolish imo since you aren't fixing anything. Just my 2cnt.

Also to the OP just use Wynne and morrigan and you can't lose.

As for the difficulty, this is built off the old-school pause RPGs, not the newer ones, this is why it has such a high difficulty curve, oddly, compared to BG2, this game is fairly easy, as in that game, you literally had to pause after every action, and had to fight much larger groups of enemies, with a crazy chance to miss, or hit a glancing blow.

Obviously not. Normal is a cake walk, Hard has an occasional challenging moment but for the most part is not difficult. Only Nightmare gets to what I'm used to from the old RPGs. If you knew what you were doing, had good armor and a strong party you would not be dying on Normal.

Thanks for the tip Superfeds, will put that one to use right away!

Then i made my character an arcane warrior, through on some blood armor and just destroyed everything.
Group makeup plays a big roll in this game, as well as using every resource you have, i set Morrigan to debuffer for many fights just to ease out the incoming damage, i never even had a party member with a heal until i got Wynn. Another big part of how hard or easy it is depends on what class your character is. I watch my wife play as her rogue and she has a way easier time in the beginning then i did on my mage

However, the random encounters are absolutely unforgiving. A mob of bandits can absolutely slaughter you and drain your resources.
