I'm certainly happy that they acknowledged the problem and asked a series of questions to get working on a solution. I really like that they acted like the Bioware of old, reaching out to the community and keeping us updated.
However this was a small ray of hope in an otherwise dark spiral of forgetting the roots of the community and ignoring issues (like the Awakening patch that broke my game!) ... so I can see how some have just had it.
I know getting bigger is a company's goal, but I do miss the old days when there were so few of us in the forums they would send us personalized birthday greetings.
Ah. I haven't been within this community long so I haven't been around to see such changes. Now I get where some people are coming from.

Is that really relevant? Let him vent, maybe he will follow up with a to-do list, maybe he won't. It is not our place to tell him when or how to get angry or not.
In the meantime, I urge everyone with issues to continue posting in the forums (media sites see the outrage, they post a blog, it raises awareness, companies don't like their image tarnished), and also open tickets with EA and with Sony support. I always attack from all angles
Exactly my point. 99 pages of 'oh well at least we should be grateful' etc etc, doesn't really promote rapid action.
One day we can hope that companies realise the power of new media and dispense with the age old and tired use of empty retoric and PR bull**** and actually start being honest to a client base that has a brain and can smell turds a mile off. If they want to act like 9yr olds, passing bucks or hiding their heads in the sand then they need to be taught a lesson, or at the very least start reconsidering how they interact with their customers. My local MP thought the same way as them and they're now looking for a new job. Consumers are far more powerful these days and complaints have a financial liability attached to them. ****** off your customers and sooner or later shareholders will get to hear about it and heads will roll.
So let's see what Tuesday brings (patch day?). I will be keeping Wednesday free though, depending on the outcome.

Darcus, excessive anger won't get you anywhere fast either. Might get you a restraining order or two though...
Which planet do you live on? Have you seen the EA 'Patch' page, vague and non-informative as possible. That's how much respect they have for you.
If stating in no uncertain terms our anger at this on a forum doesn't work, then apply again on the phone, and if that doesn't work, apply again at their offices. At which point do you think they will say 'Ok we can either get a restraining order and hope he doesn't tell the Press, or get off our fat lazy arses and start treating our customers with respect.'
You sit there and do **** all, I'll start exerting my customer rights under law. Which for your information does allow customers to take their grievances directly to the home front door of any company Director. And I know from experience that they do not ****ing like that at all, and heads will roll, because if I were a company Director payiing large salaries to people to do their jobs properly and they weren't and I had to deal with my customers on my front door, I'd be ****ing livid.
So do you get it now? Or do you still think sitting on your lazy arse and hoping for a shiny future, whilst others actually do something about it, is how things change?
If all you have to offer is 'calm down, calm down' and other vaccuous non-action excuse making on behalf of a company that has no obligation than that of consumer law and to its' shareholders, then save your breathe and keep buying shoddy goods.

And your ok with that?
I agree with what your saying, except I do blame Sony, BioWare, EA, M$, etc. Why not? Their the ones ripping the consumer off making millions.
Its passive thinking like that which is also to blame.
No, I am not ok with it. But I don´t see how it can be changed.
It´s a tough competition; in order to compete, a manufacturer like Sony has to constantly update its system and add new features. Being online requires safety measures that need to be updated as well. And they have to react to hackers; Linux seemingly offered possibilities for piracy, so an update was needed.
So...the constant firmware updates are logical when your system is online
Probably Sony gives developers guidelines on how to code; they did so in earlier generations. But the developers try to get the best out of the system, and refer to unorthodox methods to improve their games. That´s how all previous consoles came to offer more spectacular games in their lifespan than you could have imagined at first. Back then very few games suffered from incompatibility because of that, but it did happen; the firmware just never changed so frequently and on all units because online was not a major element of these consoles. If your PS2 had firmware X, it had firmware X forever, so devs could make their games knowing they do not conflict with that firmware.
It all changed in the last few years, and I just don´t see how to prevent incompatibilities 100% in todays market. Sony must change its firmware, and developers must always try to get the last ounce of processing power out of the system with unique code in order to compete.
The only thing that can be done is to fix a problem when it arises. And that is what Bioware is doing now.
We can hope for better communication between Sony and the developers, that they send the devs firmware updates a week earlier or so; but even then it does not guarantee that such problems don´t take effect when the firmware update goes public. The DA:O problems don´t even appear on a dev system, so even had they gotten the firmware earlier they might not have noticed. Other devs have dozens of games on a console, and it seems impossible that they would play all their old games all the way through to find possible problems the new firmware may cause.
So while I am not exactly happy with it, I do think problems like this will not be avoidable in the future; but at least Bioware reacts and prepares a patch. That´s all they can do.
The problem is companies like Bethesda, wo release fatally bugged software from the start and never even care to fix it.

I'm assuming the patch will be released whenever the PSN update takes place in your area. eg Tuesday in the US, and Wednesday in Europe.Hotspur000 wrote...
Will the patch be released in Region 3 at the same time as N.A. and the EU?

Lolololol, now I'm getting etiquette advice from sheep, too funny for words!
And for your information, myself and a few colleagues have been tearing poor Customer Services to shred for a fair few years now, and not once have any of us been escorted out by security, in fact most times security have been hiding their faces for fear of being caught in an embarrassing situation (yes we record our activities) and we have never encountered a company that was willing to draw media attention to themselves when faced with intelligent and experienced campaigners.
So I don't give a **** that you take offence to one line of CAPS or to a string of stars in a sentence, so get back to arse sucking and remain silent mugs like you have mostly likely been for most of your lives.

Im not going to start flaming you but sitting around talking big on a forum with your caps and your constant swearing. Starting up a storm on a bioware forum is pretty much remaining silent since your just trying to stur up reactions out of people quit posting on here till you calm yourself down.
