Well us americans cant judge the patch till we get it i think its premature to freak out because of a few people are crashing.
Like I said, maybe this IS actually your patch, and it was uploaded in the wrong PSN, being incompatible with the EU version.
But I understand that no US-player wants to register for the EU store to play the guinea pig and find out.

It's not out in North America yet? What? I thought it was supposed to be out a while ago.

the best way to update your firmware is to download it by pc and save it to a USB.. update you ps3 by using a USB data.. it is more safe than updating your ps3 using internet.
I'll bite. Why is it "more safe than updating your ps3 using internet"?

PS3 still seems to struggle a lot but now it finds a way out of the framrate locks, no crashes so far after 3H.
But i have to say im rather thankfull to Bioware for trying to fix it in some manor at least.
Conclusion: Im done with PS3 DAO now... and not going back.
Im going to save up for a monster rig instead to play these kind of games as fluently as possible because i´ve grown so tired of this under the last couple of weeks.
I wish everyone else on this forum good luck with the PS3 version... peace out.

This patch is surely regionfree since it does not change anything language-specific. Even if it would do so this game has multi language support. (The language of the game depends on your console settings. I'm using the US Version with german as language.)
This means even if they send the patch meant to be for NA to EU it would not be a problem.
As for your idea of trying to update the US-Version with an EU account; I tried that and I do not get any patch.
It's pretty simple either Bioware missed something while looking for the reason of the freezes(which can happen to every developer, and actaully does) or Sony ****ed up somehow, tho I don't know how they could **** up a simple download...then again everything is possible.^^;

When you download the firmware either via the PS3's network, or via a USB stick, it saves the PUP somewhere on the local drive, then executes the file which reboots and runs the firmware.Paul143 wrote...
first, updating ps3 using internet is far
too slow, not like updating using a usb... Sometimes updating your ps3
using internet, may cause your ps3 to break, because of the corrupted
data that you download... i tell you it is more safe to update your ps3
using a usb rather than internet.. if you like more information go to
sony playstation website, click forum, choose ps3 updates... there are
more topics about 3.30 firmware problems and the best way to update your
ps3.
If the data gets corrupted at some point, it won't pass the file integrity check, and it won't execute. You either have a working firmware file that passes validation and matches byte-for-byte whatever hash Sony are using; or, you have a corrupt file that doesn't validate.
And you run into the same probability of that happening whether you download it via the PS3 or via USB.
I've done USB downloads and it's definitely quicker than using PSN, but I really don't know where this "oh it's safer" mentality has come from. It's not just you, I see it everywhere, and it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Anyone that is in the US wait to see the patch for yourself we duno if it works or not any premature panic would be pointless lets play the waiting game
True but from what I have been seeing on this forum, it doesn't look good. Guess I will just have to try it and find out.
-update- Hard to try it when it's not out here yet.

Well, maybe you are right, but I guessed there must be differences because the Awakening disc version from the US does not work with the original DA:O from Europe either...
Now I am really wondering what the daybrings, and if this all clears up later on.

In germany we have no disc version of awaking.
in all stores the shop assistants tell you, that you only can get awaking over PSN.
thats the reason why i cant register it on the bioware forum.
i could play for approx an hour......next freeze. so problem in EU isn't fixed... hope you guys have more luck with the patch

I know there is no disc version in Germany... I am German too.^^
For that reason I wanted the US disc, but it is not compatible.
As for the patch, I´ll just keep my PS3 offline until the problem is resolved. I am sorry for everyone who already has firmware 3.3 and still suffers freezing.
