I emailed them again telling them it isnt my game or ps3 having issues, they told me the same thing again. I said my ps3 is up to date, they email me, "make sure its up to date." Duh?

Past 2 nights i had 1 or 2 crashes then it didnt crash anymore after. Booted it up tonight, i can't walk for 1 minute in Denerim without crashing. Tryed to put up with it but its to irritating to restart my ps3 every 60 freaking seconds. Why it worked for 2 days nearly flawlessly and its crashing like mad now, i dunno. After restarting my ps3 15 times and only accomplishing 5 minutes of gameplay, i just let out one big sigh and turned the t.v. back on. What the crap is going on?!

Accept for that one freeze on Darkspawn Chronicles, I haven't had any problems. The game works just fine for me. Same for my son who is playing on a different system with a different bluray.
You may wanna try your disk on a different system.

Im just going to go to gamestop, have them print out another copy of my receipt for my ps3, since i lost mine, then have sony take a look at it. Its still got 7 months left on the sony warranty. I dont think it costs anything for them to try and fix it if there is a problem as long as i have the proof of purchse and valid warranty does it? Im thinking my blu ray drive or the blue ray laser thingy that reads discs may be going bad or is just dirty. But im not takin it apart cuz that screws the warranty. Borderlands would go into continuous unending load cycles frequently for me when i played it causing me to have to quit the game and restart. If im thinking correctly the last few times i played MW2 before i turned it in crashed on me a few times, which had never happened before. Your probably right it may be my ps3 actin up. It is refurbished. Unfortunatly i dont know anyone with a ps3. Havent lived here to long and i live with my g/f. I dont get out much and all my friends live 4 hours away. Anyways, is if free for sony to fix a ps3 going bad with the reciept and warranty?

depends which part of the world are you? refer to your ps3 warranty policy. from what you mention about your ps3 crashes a lot also with different games i think your ps3 is definitely faulty i advice you to contact the store you got it from before your warranty expire or you may have to pay.

Nope, It's like $140 for Sony to fix, buying a refurbished PS3 like a refurbished XBOX is basically a gamble

It's been two months since I've played Awakening or Origins and haven't downloaded any of the new updates. I feel as if I shouldn't and your guys' stories are telling that Bioware frelled up again.

So its $150 for sony to fix a ps3 thats out of warranty, and $150 for them to fix a ps3 thats still covered by warranty. Doesnt seem to make much sense. Ill call them tommorow and find out. If its $150 with/without warranty them im SOL for a while.

Sony's warranty generally doesn't cover used/refurbished units unless you got it from them. You get a refurbished unit from a retail store then your out of luck.

Did 2-3 hours on DA:O, then imported the character to DA:A, played for 3 1/2 hours, no freeze. The patch works just fine.

You just start up DAO while connected to PSN and it prompts the download automatically.

If the machine is within warranty, it is within warranty and should be fixed by the manufacturer regardless of if it is "second hand". Now what do you mean by a refurb? Do you mean the machine has already been to Sony to be repaired before? This does not affect your initial 1 year warranty. Why you would buy a machine that has already been sent in for repairs within the first year of life is not clear though?

I would imaging he bought it because it was cheaper then a brand new one. Pretty simple really.

Cheaper but proven to be faulty? Well I suppose then he should have known of the risks, like buying the fruit that is in the "discounted" stand I suppose.

Refrubished as is there was a previous owner and and then resold by gamestop. Its gauranteed to work but who knows how the previous owner treated it. I sent it in yesterday to get it checked out. It was free

I knew the risks, but $190 for a ps3 was a great deal, and since it had a warranty included i saw no reason not to save myself a few hundred bucks. Once they fix it its all good. No more worries about system issues and money saved from initial purchase.

Oh, ok that's second hand not refurb. A refurb is a unit that has had its internal pieces exchanged at a point during its lifetime.

If it is a second hand machine, but is within warranty, it is within warranty and Sony should fix it for free.

I also got a 2nd hand 80Gb fat .. didn't want to pay full price for a PS3 especially since it's the first PS I own (I'm a Nintendo-guy, sorry ;)) and wanted to see if it lived up to the expectations.

Apart from the crashes in DA:O it's been performing flawlessly so far. Oh, after the patch, I had one more freeze somewhere during an inventory screen.. I still save after every considerable battle anyway (say, every 5 to 10 minutes) so any eventual crash won't ruin my efforts anyway.

Besides, it doesn't crash as frequently as it did before but the patch doesn't mean it won't ever crash at all, right?
