i have the ps3 firmware 3.30 and i have downloaded the patch for dao

does it now freeze again?

do i have to download firmware 3.50 to stop freezing, please help.

It is not bioware it is the ps3 update itself. playstation told me to reset my settings ONLY the setting and nothing else. it fixed the issue for me. i only asked playstation because it was doing it with every game i own even with blue rays.

is this still an issue? I have the ultimate edition and it keeps crashing out right when i kill the arch demon

I am just beyond words. I haven't played DA:O in a while, but last week, I decided to fire up a new character. No problems. 50 hours later, I'm at the battle with the archdemon, and if I can even get through it without the game freezing up, it freezes up immediately after I kill it. I've been through this thread and read in a few other places some suggestions on a fix, all of which I've tried. I deleted my game data and reinstalled, reinstalled all my DLC, reset the settings on my PS3, loaded an old save from Witch Hunt, then loaded my newer save from that point. Still the same. Freezes at the archdemon battle.

So frustrated. This is about the sixth or seventh time, at least, that I've played this game all the way through and this is the first time I've had this problem. If I end up having to delete all my saves, all my favorite characters, and all those hours of play, I'm going to be...unhappy.

Does anyone at all have any more suggestions on what I might try to sort this problem out?

same here, i got this through Gamefly and absolutely loved it. It's my first time into the Archdemon, i get halfway through, and game freezes up. I'm very mad atm cuz i would love to beat the game.

I'm finding now that it's doubly frustrating because in trying to fix this problem, it's broken something else.  After I reinstalled everything, all my reward items from trophies for Witch Hunt, Golems, and Leliana DLC are gone.

I mean, really?  What gives?  I've got all the patches, yet people are saying not to install the patches.  Some people are saying to play through all the DLC again, other people are saying they've tried that and it's not working.

And, btw, deleting the game data and reinstalling everything didn't fix the freezing problem.  I got so angry, I just deleted every save from that playthrough and started another.  I guess we'll see in another 50 hours if the problem is fixed or not.

i read something from GameFAQs that he contacted EA support and they said just load thesave before the autosave because the autosave data wwas corrupted. I'll try that and give feedback if it works

Yeah, unfortunately, I got miffed BEFORE I read that part and had already deleted all the save files.

Good luck, though. Let me know how it turns out. I also read that when you load from the save before the autosave, you should turn autosave off.

It worked i beat the game i didnt turn off autosave but it didnt freeze during the fight.

I am encountering this same issue.
I was having long (unsuccessful) battles against the archdemon before, but It seems to have started hanging the ps3 about 10-20 minutes in after I updated the PS3 to use netflix. Unfortunately, my last save before this was quite a ways back.  This is not fun.  Not sure I want to try going back that far to see if it's fixed.

Hi, sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm playing Awakening on the PS3 (as part of the Ultimate Edition) and it keeps crashing completely every time I leave the Shadowy Crypt to head back to the Blackmarsh Undying. It's not freezing or crashing anywhere else in the game...it just goes to a black screen when I try and exit the Crypt area and while the PS3 is still technically 'on', not even pushing the PS button does anything. It's not my TV. Ummm...help? I don't even have an earlier save for Awakening, as I have a *lot* of game saves on my PS3...bad move. Both my autosave and manual one are at the entrance to the Crypt

Edit: Ooh-kay. Curiouser and curiouser. I went back to the save multiple times (am I patient, or am I just desperately procrastinating on assignments? ) and it eventually worked after I didn't open the coffins to fight with the extra skeletons. Um. Not sure why. But hey, it worked

I just bought DAO Ultimate Edition and I'm having constant freezing as I defeat Loghain in the Landsmeet. It has frozen without fail 5 consecutive times. The last time I loaded a save right before. Is there any way to fix this? I need to continue on to DA2. >.>

Since this thread is the one with the most recent reply, I'll post here and hope for the best.

I have the Ultimate edition and it has been crashing/freezing since day 1. I've had to restore my ps3 system 3 times because of this

Also, I was under the impression that there was already a patch to fix this issue. Has anythig come out of that?
