Like everyone else, I was having random freezing issues in DA:O. After changing some options, I've managed to play for 6 hours with no freezing. It could just be coincidence, but here's what I did: Under game options, turned off 'enable persistent gore'. I also turned off all 4 options under 'Interface'. Under 'Audio/Video' I reduced the sound effects and music volume to around 3/4.

Like I said, it might be coincidence, but I've been running around the Circle Tower for the last 20 minutes or so, actually trying to get it to freeze, but with no luck. . . fortunately. Hope this helps.

BTW, I was playing disconnected from PSN on an 80-gig model.

The Circle Tower is fine, that doesn't seem to glitch for me either. Well mostly, it'll freeze up during large by orders of lyrium dust from the quatermaster- though not near as bad as trying to buy crap in Denerim.
Denerim on the otherhand is another story. Especially when trying to deal with merchants! Potent Lyrium for soveriegns is HELL. I've had even freeze up in Denerim with my party just standing in front of a merchant and chillin' for a min while my back is turned.

I just bought the game, after buying a 60 gig PS3 2 days ago, the guy I bought it from had 3.30 on it.  When I brought it home I formatted hard drive.  The PS3 isn't connected to a network, ( I Don't even have a PSN Account) and the only game played on the ps3 since formatting was Dragon Age.   The game was running fine until I got to Lothering and started the bandit quest, as soon as I got up to them it freezes, restarted it and froze shortly after completing that same quest.  After that I gave up.

Can I please get an estimated time this will be fixed?

Should you not all be complaining in the Sony forums?

I'm sure there will be plenty of complaining there. Not sure who's going to release the patch for this issue, but at least we shouldn't keep Bioware out of the loop, right? :)

i continue my game 2day the one with new profile, currently has 13+ hrs of gameplay. After 4 hrs of playing it finally freezes, reboot it, i continue playing until i got headache reading those minis subtitles. One thing worries me at times it hangs up for a second then it resumes. Maybe 3.30 features w/ the trophies and graphics is ruining the game. Not to mention, my older profiles are constanly freezing at random for every 30-40 mins..

I literally just googled this this morning and got a report about others experiencing it. I bought Dragons age (collectors edition) a few days and I was maybe 30 mins in when it froze one me. I have experienced poor frame rate at points also. It froze for me just after I had completed the second battle in the game. Please fix guys, I have heard awesome things about this game and I havent been let down so far!

@JaapEngel79 - Bioware are aware of it, and why should they release a patch to fix Sony's firmware problem?

I also have an 80Gb model (the one with 2 USB ports, there seem to be different 80Gb's around) running 3.30 and had 2 hangs so far in Redcliffe.. I'll try the option you mentioned later today [my 3 year old daughter is up and about, wouldn't want to traumatize her ;) ] and let you know how it goes.

Why should Sony release a fix for their own firmware which seems to only mess up one BioWare game? :) (though they did fix the Uncharted issue a while ago..). Ok, I'm not sure if there are other 3.30 firmware problems with other games..

Well DA is the only game this affects. I would say it's both Sony's and Biowares problem.

It;s not even close to being the only game affected.  That was my point earlier.  Its great that BioWare is trying to fix its own game but I would prefer they were yelling at Sony with us on this one.  They would be heard long before we would.

Hi guys, I'm running the PS3 at 1080p and the DAO is running at 720p.. I've had no problems since I upgraded to 3.30. I've a 60gig Premium Launch PS3.

I´m running the original 80gb fat model at 1080p, playing DA:O with all DLCs downloaded.
I too have had no crashes since upgrading to 3.30.

Have actually had only 2 crashes at all during 100+ hours DA:O gaming and both were pre-3.30. Once during end battle while pushing a lot of buttons simultaneously and once in Aeducan Thaig just after auto-save finished.

@Mr Wonderstuff ha ha ha ha ha ha aha haha ha ha ha.

Try opening your eyes and reading some other forums.

Oh no hang on - SOny's firmware update problems ARE Bioware's fault aren't they? I bet you don't complain to Sony when DA doesn't work and there's not been a firmware upgrade. Or do you just complain to everyone, just to make sure no one gets left out?

ANyway what do I care I don't even have a PS3.

I'm just bored really... ;O)

I just got DA this morning, so I'm playing it fresh with no trophies or previous saves on my system. I'm playing in the UK, and using 1080p.

I started a new game without creating an EA account with the dragon age servers just to start out. I created a human mage, so started out with the harrowing. I completed the fade section, walked around the tower, and got my first crash after walking through the door leading out of the room with Owain and the other tranquils. I didn't have any downloadable content installed, and all of my equipment is whatever the default stuff is. I haven't altered anything in any menu or options screen anywhere, except for inverting the X and Y axes for camera controls. Otherwise everything else is default.

I was looking forward to this game, so I'm kinda disappointed at this. Hope you guys can get this fixed asap.

I have to say at least the Bioware reps are taking an active part in trying to resolve the matter. Everyone's constructive input is indeed helping them narrow the problem down. If more games were affected then it would be a little easier to try and pin down the commonality in all of them but since DAO seems to be the worst affected they kinda have to run the full gamut of tests to find out what's the deal. Debugging is no easy task but if they do actually have Sony on the line it'll eventually get resolved.

Those who know about the crashing just shelve the game till it's fixed and play something else. Those who just experienced crashes welcome to the club. Pull up a chair, have a cookie and wait for a fix like the rest of us. ;)

The same thing happened to Uncharted after one of Sony's updates, and we had to wait for another firmware update to fix it. Hopefully they care about DA players as much as the Uncharted ones.

Well, Uncharted is first party, Dragon Age is third party, so I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

Does anyone else feel like were beta testing again? Anyhow here is my crash info for today Bioware.

Crash#1: Crashed when going through each character's stat menu w/ L1 or R1. @ the time 2 characters could level up. This happened in the deep roads.

Crash#2: Game froze/hung trying to enter Ordan Thaig but didn't deadlock the system as i was able to quit out with the PS Menu Button

Crash#3-4 Both times this has happened to me and i said screw it for the day. Deadlocked the system at the change party screen at camp when you get ready to leave the campsite. Seem to start it after i started Morrigan's personal quest.

I do.  I figure though, Super street fighter 4 just came out and i love it so i'm using diversion until my next DAO fix.
